In this experiment, persulfate, a strong oxidant for ISCO (In-Situ Chemical Oxidation) was used to degraded RDX in artificial ground water at ambient temperature. Results of RDX degradation by persulfate in a batch reactor showed that the oxidation reaction was pseudo first order with estimated Ea (activation energy) of $1.14{\times}10^2kJ/mol$ and the rate was increased with the increase of reaction temperature. The oxidation of RDX by persulfate increased slightly with the increase of initial solution pH from 4 to 8. The RDX oxidation rate increased 13 times at pH 10 compared with that at pH 4, however, alkaline hydrolysis was found to be the main reaction of RDX degradation rather than oxidation. The study also showed that the oxidation rate of RDX by persulfate was linearly dependent upon the molar ratios of persulfate to RDX from 5 : 1 up to 100 : 1, with a proportion constant of $4{\times}10^{-4}$ ($min^{-1}$/molar ratio) at $70^{\circ}C$. While NOM (Natural Organic Matter) exerted negative effects on the oxidation rate of RDX by persulfate, with a proportion constant of $1.21{\times}10^{-4}$ ($min^{-1}{\cdot}L/mg-NOM$) at $70^{\circ}C$ and persulfate/NOM molar ratio of 10/1. The decrease in RDX oxidation rate was linearly dependent upon the added NOM concentration. However, the estimated activation energy in the presence of 20 mg-NOM/L was within 3.3% error compared to that without NOM, which implies the addition of NOM does not alter intrinsic oxidation reaction.
This study is aimed to analyze the reduction performance of building energy consumption according to planting base types of panel-type green walls which can be applied to existing buildings. The performance was compared to the general performance of green walls that have demonstrated effects of improving the thermal environment and reducing building energy consumption in urban areas. The number of planting base types was 4 in total, and simulations were conducted to analyze the thermal conductivity, thermal transmittance, and overall building energy consumption rate of each planting base type. The highest thermal conductivity by the planting base type was Case C (0.053W/mK), followed by Case B (0.1W/mK) and Case D (0.17W/mK). According to the results of energy simulation, the most significant reduction of cooling peak load per unit area was Case C (1.19%), followed by Case B (1.14%) and Case D (1.01%) when compared to Case A to which green wall was not applied; and the most significant reduction of heating peak load per unit area was estimated to be Case C (2.38%), followed by Case B (1.82%) and case D (1.50%) when compared to Case A. The amount of yearly cooling and heating energy use per unit area showed 3.04~3.22% of reduction rate. The amount of the 1st energy use showed 5,844 kWh/yr of decrease on average for other types when compared to Case A. The amount of yearly $CO_2$ emission showed 996kg of decrease on average when compared to Case A to which the green wall was not applied. According to the results of energy performance evaluation by planting location, the most efficient energy performance was eastward followed by westward, southward and northward. According to the results of energy performance evaluation by planting location by green wall ratio, it was found that as the ratio of green wall increased, the energy performance displayed better results, showing approx. double reduction rate in energy consumption at 100% of green wall ratio than the reduction rate at 20% to 80% of green wall ratio.

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is one of the ancient crops cultivated in the Andes region at an altitude of 3,500-4000m in Chile and Bolivia from 5000 BC. It contains a large amount of protein, minerals and vitamins in comparison with other crops. The cultivation area has been increasing worldwide because of its excellent resistance to various abiotic stress such as salinity, drought and low temperature. ${\gamma}$-Ray radiation of high dose is often used as a tool to induce mutations in plant breeding, but it has a deleterious effect on organisms. However, the radiation may have a positive stimulatory effect of 'hormesis' in the low dose range. This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimum dose range for creating the quinoa genetic resources and to investigate the hormesis effect at low dose on the quinoa. This experiment was performed for 120 days from November, 2016 to February, 2017 in the greenhouse of Gyeongsang National University. ${\gamma}$-Ray radiation was irradiated to seeds at 0 Gy, 50 Gy, 100 Gy, 200 Gy, 300 Gy, 400 Gy, 600 Gy, 800 Gy and 1000 Gy for 8 hours. (50 Gy) using the low level radiation facility ($Co^{60}$) of Cooperative Research Institute of Radiation Research Institute, KAERI. Fifty seeds were placed on each petri dish lined with wet filter paper and germination rate was measured at a time interval of 2 hours for 40 hrs. The length of the root length was measured one week after germination. Each treatment was carried out in 3 replicates. The growth of seedlings were investigated for 10 days after transplanting of 30 day-old seedlings. The plant height, NDVI, SPAD, Fv/Fm, and panicle weight were measured. The germination rate was highest at 50Gy and 0Gy and the rate of seeds treated with 400Gy or higher rate decreased to 25% of the seeds treated with 50Gy. The emergence rate of seedling in pot experiment was higher at the dose of 200 Gy, 300 Gy and 400 Gy than at 0 and 50Gy. However, the rate was lower at strong radiation higher than 600Gy at which $1^{st}$ leaf was not expanded fully and dead due to extreme overgrowth at 44 days after treatment (DAT). The highest value of panicle weight was observed at 50Gy (6.15g) and 100Gy (5.57g). On the other hand, the weight at high irradiated dose of 300Gy and 400Gy was decreased by about 55% compared to low dose (50 Gy). NDVI measurement also showed the highest value at 50 Gy as the growth progressed. SPAD was the highest at 400 Gy and showed positive correlation with irradiation dose except 0 Gy. Fv/Fm was high at 50 Gy up to 30 DAT and no difference between treatments was observed except for 400 Gy from 44 DAT. The plant height was the highest in 50Gy during the growing period and was higher in the order of 50Dy, 100Gy, 0Gy, 200Gy, 300Gy and 400Gy in 88 DAT. In this experiment, the optimal radiation dose for hormesis was 50Gy and 100Gy, and the optimal radiation dose for mutagenesis seems to be 400 Gy.
We report plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy of $In_XGa_{1-X}N$ films on c-plane sapphire substrates. Prior to the growth of $In_XGa_{1-X}N$ films, GaN film was grown on the nitride c-plane sapphire substrate by two-dimensional (2D) growth mode. For the growth of GaN, Ga flux of $3.7{\times}10^{-8}$ torr as a beam equivalent pressure (BEP) and a plasma power of 150 W with a nitrogen flow rate of 0.76 sccm were fixed. The growth of 2D GaN growth was confirmed by $in-situ$ reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) by observing a streaky RHEED pattern with a strong specular spot. InN films showed lower growth rates even with the same growth conditions (same growth temperature, same plasma condition, and same BEP value of III element) than those of GaN films. It was observed that the growth rate of GaN is 1.7 times higher than that of InN, which is probably caused by the higher vapor pressure of In. For the growth of $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ films with different In compositions, total III-element flux (Ga plus In BEPs) was set to $3.7{\times}10^{-8}$ torr, which was the BEP value for the 2D growth of GaN. The In compositions of the $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ films were determined to be 28, 41, 45, and 53% based on the peak position of (0002) reflection in x-ray ${\theta}-2{\theta}$ measurements. The growth of $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ films did not show a streaky RHEED pattern but showed spotty patterns with weak streaky lines. This means that the net sticking coefficients of In and Ga, considered based on the growth rates of GaN and InN, are not the only factor governing the growth mode; another factor such as migration velocity should be considered. The sample with an In composition of 41% showed the lowest full width at half maximum value of 0.20 degree from the x-ray (0002) omega rocking curve measurements and the lowest root mean square roughness value of 0.71 nm.

Cryogenic air separation unit produces various gases such as $N_2$, $O_2$, and Ar by liquefying air. The process also varies with diverse production conditions. The one for SNG production among them has lower efficiency compared to other air separation unit because it requires ultrapure $O_2$ with purity not lower than 99.5%. Among factors that reduce the efficiency of air separation unit, power consumption due to compress air and heat duty of double column were representatives. In this study, simulation of the air separation unit for SNG production was carry out by using ASEPN PLUS. In the results of the simulation, 18.21 kg/s of at least 99.5% pure $O_2$ was produced and 33.26 MW of power was consumed. To improve the energy efficiency of air separation unit for SNG production, the sensitivity analysis for power consumption, purities and flow rate of $N_2$, $O_2$ production in the air separation unit was performed by change of air boosting ratios. The simulated model has three types of air with different pressure levels and two air boosting ratio. The air boosting ratio means flow rate ratio of air by recompressing in the process. As increasing the first air boosting ratio, $N_2$ flow rate which has purity of 99.9 mol% over increase and $O_2$ flow rate and purity decrease. As increasing the second air boosting ratio, $N_2$ flow rate which has purity of 99.9 mol% over decreases and $O_2$ flow rate increases but the purity of $O_2$ decreases. In addition, power consumption of compressing to increase in the two cases but results of heat duty in double column were different. The heat duty in double column decreases as increasing the first air boosting ratio but increases as increasing the second air boosting ratio. According to the results of the sensitivity analysis, the optimum air boosting ratios were 0.48 and 0.50 respectively and after adjusting the air boosting ratios, power consumption decreased by approximately 7% from $0.51kWh/O_2kg$ to $0.47kWh/O_2kg$.

The continuous casting process has been adopted increasingly in recent years to save both energy and labor. It has experienced a rapid development in the production of semi-finished steel products, replacing the conventional route of ingot casting plus rolling. To achieve this good merit, however, more studies about a heat transfer mechanism between roll and slab are needed. So this paper shows the results of the deformation behavior of steel cast slabs, which are about the solidification and heat transfer. This study is used to prevent internal cracks of a slab in a bending and unbending zone. The value of moving strand shell bulging between two supporting rollers under ferrostatic pressure and slab-self weight has been computed in terms of creep and elastic-plasticity. The high strand distributions in solidified shell undergoes a series of bulging are calculated with boundary condition a very closed to continuous steel cast slabs productions.
Frequency is an important operating parameter of a power system. Frequency of a power system remains constant if sum of all the loads plus losses equals total generation in the system. However, the frequency starts to decrease if total generation is less than the sum of loads and tosses. On the other hand, the system frequency increases if total generation exceeds the sum of loads and losses. Electric power systems sustain transient frequency swings whenever the balance between generation and load does not no longer hold. To cope with this Constraints, it requires an accurate and high speedy frequency deviation estimation technique and suitable adjustment to obtain the power system energy balance. The fundamental frequency component of 3-phase signal is first extracted by using an algorithm based on FIR(finite duration impulse response) filter, a phase angle of a voltage. The rate change of the phase angle is used for estimation and speed in its process. Also, to confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm, the simulation results obtained by using EMTP(electro magnetic transients program) are shown.
A robust controller that combines the merits of the feed-back, feed-forward and model-following control for induction motor drives utilizing field orientation control is designed in this paper. The proposed controller is a two-degrees-offreedom (2DOF) integral plus proportional & rate feedback (I-PD) speed controller combined with a model-following (2DOF I-PD MFC) speed controller. A systematic mathematical procedure is derived to find the parameters of the 2DOF I-PD MFC speed controller according to certain specifications for the drive system. Initially, we start with the I-PD feedback controller design, then we add the feed-forward controller. These two controllers combine to form the 2DOF I-PD speed controller. To realize high dynamic performance for disturbance rejection and set point tracking characterisitics, a MFC controller is designed and added to the 2DOF I-PD controller. This combination is called a 2DOF I-PD MFC speed controller. We then study the effect of the 2DOF I-PD MFC speed controller on the performance of the drive system under different operating conditions. A computer simulation is also run to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The results verify that the proposed 2DOF I-PD MFC controller is more accurate and more reliable in the presence of load disturbance and motor parameter variations than a 2DOF I-PD controller without a MFC. Also, the proposed controller grants rapid and accurate responses to the reference model, regardless of whether a load disturbance is imposed or the induction machine parameters vary.

The disturbance of oil-water interface confined between tandem fences caused by a sequence of traveling vortices below the interface is investigated. The traveling vortices are assumed to be those detached from the tip of the fore fence. The potential flow is assumed and the density interface is replaced as a sheet of vortex. The shape of the interface is predicted by tracing a finite number of marker particles placed at the interface. The velocity of the marker particles is determined by the Biot-Savart integral along the vortex sheet plus the contribution from the traveling point vortices. The rate of change of vortex-sheet strength is predicted by using an evolution equation for vorticity. The calculated results obtained for various conditions demonstrate that the large amplitude of interfacial wave following the moving vortek can be generated by the vortices.
Petcokes is the final product obtained from a refinery process. This petcokes includes high percentage of inorganic and sulfur compounds. Currently, the petcokes produced from domestic refinery plants include more than 6% of sulfur. To use petcokes as valuable raw materials, the weight percentage of sulfur must be lower than 2% of sulfur. Solvent extraction, thermal desulfurization, and hydro-desulfurization have been used to remove the sulfur. In this study, we attempted new approach to remove the sulfur introducing microwave energy. Microwave increase the reaction rates by providing the fast heating and disconnecting the bonding structure of the molecules. The experiments of microwave thermal desulfurization and microwave plus hydrogen gas were carried out to remove the sulfur. We obtained 68.3% of sulfur removal rate with the 2 hours of reaction time and 1835 W of microwave powder. In the experiment of microwave with hydrogen gas, we obtained 86.4% of sulfur removal rate with the 1.5 hours of reaction time and 1835 W of microwave power. If we increase reaction time or decrease the particle size of petcokes, we expect more than 90% of sulfur removal.
