In the electrolysis process of zinc plating impurity ions must be removed from zinc chloride plating solution because it's harmful to the current efficiency and the purity of zinc plating. In this study using zinc ball as a prcipitant instead of zinc dust, the fundamental data for continuous cementation process was studied. Based upon two series of experiments that consist of batch experiment with cylindrical zinc specimen and continuous experiment with zinc balls, following results have been obtained. In the continuous experiment all impurity ions have been removed within 1 hour regardless of various experimental conditions.

Electroless plating nickel has superior mechanical property to electroplated nickel. Furthermore nickel can be coated on nonconducting substrate. In this research, electroless plating of nickel were conducted in different bath condition to find optimum conditions of electroless nickel plating for MEMS applications. The selectivity of activation method on several substrates was investigated. The effects of nickel concentration, reducing agent concentration and inhibitor on deposition rate were investigated. The effect of pH on deposition rate and content of phosphorous in deposited nickel was also investigated.
SA508 low-alloy steel for a reactor vessel was exposed to primary water in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) plant because the cladding layer of type 309 stainless steel for the RPV was removed, due to an accident in which the detachment of the thermal sleeve occurred. The major advantage of the electrochemical deposition (ECD) Ni plating technique is that the reactor pressure vessel can be repaired without significant thermal effects, and Ni has solid corrosion resistance that can withstand boric acid. The corrosion rate assessment of the damaged part was performed, and its trend was analyzed. Essential variables of the Ni plating for repair of the damaged part were derived. These conditions are applicable variables for the repair plating device, and have been carefully adjusted using the repair plating device. The process for establishing ASME technical standards called Code Case N-840 is described. The process of developing Ni-plating devices, and the electroplating procedure specification (EPS) are described.
The screen printing method for forming the electrode by applying the existing pressure is difficult to apply to thin wafers, and since expensive Ag paste is used, it is difficult to solve the problem of cost reduction. This can solve both of the problems by forming the front electrode using a plating method applicable to a thin wafer. In this paper, the process conditions of electrode formation are optimized by using LIEP (Light-Induced Electrode Plating). Experiments were conducted by varying the Ni plating bath temperature $40{\sim}70^{\circ}C$, the applied current 5 ~ 15 mA, and the plating process time 5 ~ 20 min. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the optimal condition of the structural characteristics was obtained at the plating bath temperature of $60^{\circ}C$, 15 mA, and the process time of 20 min. The Cu LIEP process conditions, experiments were conducted with Cu plating bath temperature $40{\sim}70^{\circ}C$, applied voltage 5 ~ 15 V, plating process time 2 ~ 15 min. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the optimum conditions were obtained as a result of electrical and structural characteristics at the plating bath temperature of $60^{\circ}C$ and applied current of 15 V and process time of 15 min. In order to form Ni silicide, the firing process time was fixed to 2 min and the temperature was changed to $310^{\circ}C$, $330^{\circ}C$, $350^{\circ}C$, and post contact annealing was performed. As a result, the lowest contact resistance value of $2.76{\Omega}$ was obtained at the firing temperature of $310^{\circ}C$. The contact resistivity of $1.07m{\Omega}cm^2$ can be calculated from the conditionally optimized sample. With the plating method using Ni / Cu, the efficiency of the solar cell can be expected to increase due to the increase of the electric conductivity and the decrease of the resistance component in the production of the solar cell, and the application to the thin wafer can be expected.

In chemical plating of nickel and chromium on steel, studies on various factors affect-ing the plating operations were carried out. The optimum bath compositions and operat-ing conditions were obtained. The structure and properties of the as deposits or deposits after heat treatment were investigated. (1) The most optimum conditions for the chemical nickel and chromium plating were; 〔Ni2+〕/〔H2PO2-〕; 0.5∼0.8, 〔Cr3+〕/〔H2PO2-〕; 0.6∼0.9 PH;5.0∼5.5, temperature; 90∼95$^{\circ}C$ (2) In the case of nickel deposition, the hardness of deposits increased with increasing phosphorous contents. Heat-treating at the temperature range 200$^{\circ}C$ to 600$^{\circ}C$, the maximum hardness of deposits was obtained at 400$^{\circ}C$ and decreased at temperature above 400$^{\circ}C$ due to growth of Ni3P. (3) Corrosion resistance of chemical nickel deposits was improved with increasing of p-hosphorous contents and heat treating temperature.

An attempt was made to characterize the relationship between pretreatment processes, electrolysis conditions and behaviors of the plated gold layer. In order to investigate the effect of pretreatment processes on plating, rest potential measurements of various pretreated stainless steels and a.c.-impedance spectroscopy tests were carried out in the strike plating solution. Characteristics of plated gold layers and adhesions between plated gold layers and stainless steel substrates were examined by scratching tests and micro-Vickers hardness tests. The result shows that the strike plating enhanced the adhesion of interface, the cathodic electro-activation pretreatment process improving both corrosion resistance and adhesion strength. The preferred orientations of plated gold layers were examined by the X-ray diffraction technique. As the current density increases, [111] preferred orientation of plated gold layers was found to become well developed.

Gold plating is used as a coating of connecter in printed circuit boards, ceramic integrated circuit packages, semiconductor devices and so on, because the film has excellent electric conductivity, solderability and chemical properties such as durability to acid and other chemicals. As increasing the demand for miniaturization of printed circuit boards and downsizing of electronic devices, several types of electroless gold plating solutions have been developed. Most of these conventional gold plating solutions contain cyanide compounds as a complexing agent. The gold film obtained from such baths usually satisfies the requirements for electronic parts mentioned above. However, cyanide bath is highly toxic and it always has some possibility to cause serious problems in working environment or other administrative aspects. The object of this investigation was to develop a cyanide-free electroless gold plating process that assures the high stability of the solution and gives the excellent solderability of the deposited film. The investigation reported herein is intended to establish plating bath composition and plating conditions for electroless gold plating, with thiomalic acid as a complexing agent. At the same time, we have investigated the solution stability against nickel ion and pull strength of solder ball. Furthermore, by examining the characteristics of the plated Au plating film, the problems of the newly developed electroless Au plating solution were improved and the applicability to various industrial fields was examined. New type electroless gold-plating bath which containing thiomalic acid as a complexing agent showing so good solution stability and film properties as cyanide bath. And this bath shows the excellent stability even if the dissolved nickel ion was added from under coated nickel film, which can be used at the neutral pH range.

In decorative chromium plating, highly concentrated conventionl baths ($CrO_3$ 150~400g/l) have been used. Because of the problems of heavy metal pollution and the saving of raw materials, chromium plating from dilute bath has been developed recently. The present study was performed to determine the effects of all the variables in the low concentrated chromium plating bath, such as brightness, appearence, current efficiency, and plating rate with regard to the bath composition and plating conditions.
