The postbeam joint connection of the existing steel structure moment flexible frame system did not produce sufficient seismic resistance during the earthquakes in Northridge and Kobe, and it sustained brittle fracturing on the joint connection. This study was performed to execute the high-tensile bolt share connection of H-beams web and the full-scale experiment as a parameter of the existing reinforcement of H-flange rib, by making the shape of the existing joint connection. This experiment was performed to determine the extent of the decrease of the number of high-tensile bolts and how to improve workability of the two-phase shear connection of web beam. In addition, this study was performed to enhance the seismic resistant capacity through the enforcement of rib plates. As a result of the experiment of two-phase shear connection of H-beam web and of joint connection to be reinforced by rib plates, the results of this study showed that the initial stiffness, energy-dissipation capacity, and rotational capacity of plasticity was higher than the existing joint connection. As to the rate of increasing the strength and deformation capacity, there were differences between the tension side and compression side because of the position of shear tap. However, as a whole, they have shown excellent seismic resistant capacity. Also, all the test subjects exceeded 4% (rate of delamination), about 0.029 rad (total plastic capacity), and about 130% (maximum strength of joint connection) of fully plastic moment for the original section. Accordingly, this study was considered as it would be available in the design more than the intermediate-level of moment flexible frame.

Recently, with the tendency of more lightening, high-strength and high-speed in the marine industries such as marine structures, ships and chemical plants, the use of the aluminium Alloy is rapidly enlarge and there occurs much interest in the study of corrosion fatigue crack characteristics. In this paper, the initiation of surface crack and the propagation characteristics on the base metal and weld zone of 5086-H116 Aluminium Alloy Plate which is one of the Al-Mg serious alloy(A5000serious) used most when building the special vessels, were investigated by the plane bending corrosion fatigue under the environments of marine, air and applying cathodic protection. The effects of various specific resistances on the initiation, propagation behavior of corrosion fatigue crack and corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and heat affected zone were examined and its corrosion sensitivity was quantitatively obtained. The effects of corrosion on the crack depth in relation to the uniform surface crack length were also investigated. Also, the structural, mechanical and electro-chemical characteristics of the metal at the weld zone were inspected to verify the reasons of crack propagation behavior in the corrosion fatigue fracture. In addition, the effect of cathodic protection in the fracture surface of weld zone was examined fractographically by Scanning Electron Microscope(S.E.M.). The main results obtained are as follows; (1) The initial corrosion fatigue crack sensitibity under specific resistance of 25Ω.cm% show 2.22 in the base metal and 19.6 in the HEZ, and the sensitivity decreases as specific resistance increases (2) By removing reinforcement of weldment, the initiation and propagation of corrosion crack in the HAZ are delayed, and corrosion fatigue life increases. (3) As specific resistance decreases, the sensitivity difference of corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and HAZ is more susceptible than that of intial corrosion fatigue crack. (4) Experimental constant, m(Paris' rule) in the marine environment is in the range of about 3.69 to 4.26, and as specific resistance increases, thje magnitude of experimental constant, also increases and the effect by corrosion decreases. (5) Comparing surface crack length with crack depth, the crack depth toward the thickness of specimen in air is more deeply propagated than that in corrosion environment. (6) The propagation particulars of corrosion fatigue crack for HAZ under initial stress intensity factor range of $\Delta$k sub(li) =27.2kgf.mm super(-3/2) and stress ratio of R=0 shows the retardative phenomenon of crack propagation by the plastic deformation at crack tip. (7) Number of stress cycles to corrosion fatigue crack initiation of the base metal and the welding heat affected zone are delayed by the cathodic protection under the natural sea water. The cathodic protection effect for corrosion fatigue crack initiation is eminent when the protection potential is -1100 mV(SCE). (8) When the protection potential E=-1100 mV(SCE), the corrosion fatigue crack propagation of welding heat affected zone is more rapid than that of the case without protection, because of the microfissure caused by welding heat cycle.

In order to investigate the structural performance of a novel prefabricated-SRC column using bolt-connected steel angles(PSRC column), eccentric axial loading tests were performed for six PSRC column specimens and two conventional SRC column specimens. The test parameters were the spacing and sectional configurations of lateral reinforcement, and eccentricity ratio of axial load. The test results showed that, due to high axial-stiffness of the angles located at the corners of the cross section, the compressive load-carrying capacity and deformation capacity of the PSRC specimens were greater than those of the SRC specimens in the large eccentricity ratio of axial load. Closely spaced lateral steel plates and Z-shaped lateral steel plates improved lateral confinement, which increased the load-carrying capacity of the PSRC specimens. The combined flexural and axial load-carrying capacity of the specimens by tests and nonlinear numerical analysis were greater than the predictions by current design codes. The numerical analysis agreed well with the test results including the initial stiffness, peak strength, and post-peak strength degradation.
In order to know the shear performances of a bolted connection in reinforced glulam depending upon the combination of textile glass fiber, a tensile-type shear test was conducted. Textile glass fiber was used as a reinforcement, whose glass fiber arrangement was a plain weaving type or a diagonal cloth type. Reinforced glulam was made up of 5 plies and it was produced by inserting and laminating the plies between laminas depending upon a changed insert position and combination form of textile glass fiber. Tensile-type shear test specimens were a steel plate insert-type and joined at end-distance 7D with bolts whose diameter 12 or 16 mm. In textile glass fiber reinforced glulam, whose volume ratio was 1%, the yield shear strength of a 12 mm bolted connection increased by 10% when a test specimen had reinforced internal layers than when external layers were reinforced. As for textile glass fiber reinforced glulam, whose volume ratio was 2%, the yield shear strength of a 12 mm bolted connection increased significantly by about 22% compared to the bolted connection of non-reinforced glulam, and the yield shear strength of a 16 mm bolted connection was improved by about 20% compared to the bolted connection of non-reinforced glulam.
In this paper, a total of 13 beams with bonding, anchorage system, amount of prestressing and span length as variables of experiment were tested in flexural test and analyzed in finite element analysis; one control beam, two simplified FRP-boned beams, four prestressed FRP-unbonded beams and four prestressed FRP-bonded beams. Also, a nonlinear finite element analysis of beams in the flexural test is performed by DIANA program considered material nonlinear of concrete, reinforcement and the interfacial bond-slip model between concrete and CFRP plates. The failure mode of prestressed CFRP plated-beams is not debonding but FRP rupture. RC members strengthened with external bonded prestressed CFRP plates occurred 1st and 2nd debonding of the composite material. After the debonding of CFRP plates occurs in bonded system, behavior of bonded CFRP-plated beams change into that of unbonded CFRP-plated beams due to fix of the anchorage system. Also, It was compared flexural test results and analytical results of RC members strengthened with CFRF plates. The ductility of beams strengthened by CFRP plates with the anchorage system is considered high with the ductility index of above 3. Analysis results showed a good agreement with experiment results in the debonding load, yield load and ultimate load.

The purpose of this study was to develop an efficient process in the design and construction of a 1:5 scale 10-story R.C. apartment building model for an earthquake simulation test. The reduction ratio of the specimen was determined by the size ($5m{\times}5m$) and pay load (600kN) of the available shaking table and the availability of model reinforcements. For efficiency and quality control of the reinforcement work, prefabrication was used. Construction was conducted in two steps, the wall in one step, and another step for the slab, because it was impossible to remove the formwork of a wall if the walls and slabs in a story were constructed in one step. The slip form construction method was used repetitively for walls. The formwork of a wall was made with veneer and acryl plate on each side, so it was possible to check the quality of the concrete placing. To construct this model, it took roughly six months with five full-time research assistants, for a total of 602 man days of labor in construction.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to accurately analyze the damage of bridges in order to determine whether fire bridges can be used continuously or to provide information on maintenance augmentation data. Method: XRD, SEM and EDS analyzes of concrete were carried out to estimate the fire temperature transferred to the structure, and analyzed by depth and area from PSCI beam and bottom plate concrete surface. Results: Test results G12,11 for the fire zone concrete were confirmed to be affected by heat up to depth of 60mm and the temperature of the hydrothermal heat was above 1000℃. Also, the girder G10,9,8 was relatively weakly damaged compared to G12,11, and the degree of damage was confirmed to be affected by heat up to a depth of 40 mm. Conclusion: Based on the analyzed data, it is considered that if the repair / reinforcement and periodic inspection are carried out, the bridge can secure sufficient safety even considering the damage caused by the fire.

In this study, a double wall system is introduced, which was invented to simplify the complicated manufacturing process of the existing precast concrete (PC) double wall systems and to remove defects such as laitance that may occur during the production of concrete panels. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the tensile resisting capacity of the steel tube which is embedded in the precast concrete panel to keep the spacing between PC panels and to prevent damage of the PC panels during transportation and casting concrete onsite. The experiment was planned to determine the detail of effective steel tube connection considering the steel plate treatment method according to the formation of the opening, the presence of embedded concrete, and the reinforcement welding for additional dowel action as key variables. As a result, the ultimate tensile strength increased by 20-30% compared to the control specimen (ST) except for the steel tube specimen (ST_CP) which has steel plates bent inward at the end part of the steel tube. Since the specimen (ST_CON) filled with concrete inside the control specimen has no additional process and cost for the steel tube connections compared to the control specimen during the production of the developed double wall system, it is determined to be the appropriate detail of steel tube connection.
In this study to improve stability, workability and economics of the H-Pile+Earth plate or H-Pile+Earth plate+Cutoff grouting currently in use, we had developed HCS method belonging to the retaining wall which is consisting of a combination H-Pile, Plastic Sheet Pile and Steel Square Pipe for gap maintenance and reinforcement of flexible plastic Sheet Pile, and the behavior of each member composing HCS method is investigated by three-dimensional finite element analysis. To numerically analyze the behavior of the HCS method, we have performed extensive three-dimentional finite element analysis for three kinds of plastic Sheet Pile size, two kinds of H-Pile size and three kinds of H-Pile installation interval, one kinds of Steel Square Pipe and three kinds of Steel Square Pipe installation interval. After analyzing the numerical results, we found that the combinations of $P.S.P-460{\times}131.5{\times}7t$ (PS7) and H-Pile $250{\times}250{\times}9{\times}14$ (H250), $P.S.P473{\times}133.5{\times}9t$ (PS9) and H-Pile $300{\times}200{\times}9{\times}14$ (H300) is the most economical because these combinations are considered to have a stress ratio (=applied stress/allowable stress) close to that as the stiffness of H-Pile, plastic Sheet Pile and Steel Square Pipe composite increased, the horizontal displacement of the retaining wall and the vertical displacement of the upper ground decreased. Especially, due to the arching effects caused by the difference in stiffness between H-Pile and plastic Sheet Pile, a large part of the earth pressure acting on plastic Sheet Pile caused a stress transfer to H-Pile, and the stress and displacement of plastic Sheet Pile were small. Through this study, we can confirm the behavior of each member constituting the HCS method, and based on the confirmed results of this study, it can be used to apply HCS method in reasonable, stable and economical way in the future.
In this investigation, results of laboratory tests on four reinforced concrete flat plate interior connections with elongated rectangular column support which has been used widely in tall residential buildings are presented. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an effect of column aspect ratio (${\beta}_c={c_1}/{c_2}$=side length ratio of column section in the direction of lateral loading $(c_1)$ to the direction of perpendicular to $c_1$) on the hysteretic behavior under earthquake type loading. The aspect ratio of column section was taken as $0.5{\sim}3\;(c_1/c_2=1/2,\;1/1,\;2/1,\;3/1)$ and the column perimeter was held constant at 1200mm in order to achieve nominal vertical shear strength $(V_c)$ uniformly. Other design parameters such as flexural reinforcement ratio $(\rho)$ of the slab and concrete strength$(f_{ck})$ was kept constant as ${\rho}=1.0%$ and $f_{ck}=40MPa$, respectively. Gravity shear load $(V_g)$ was applied by 30 percent of nominal vertical shear strength $(0.3V_o)$ of the specimen. Experimental observations on punching failure pattern, peak lateral-load and story drift ratio at punching failure, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation in the hysteresis loop, and steel and concrete strain distributions near the column support were examined and discussed in accordance with different column aspect ratio. Eccentric shear stress model of ACI 318-05 was evaluated with experimental results. A fraction of transferring moment by shear and flexure in the design code was analyzed based on the test results.
