  • This study was carried out to investigate the reaction characteristics of NOx with reagents to grope the power consumption rate reduction and NOx removal rate improvement for the non-thermal plasma denitrification process. The experiments were performed using the real flue gas and wire-plate type plasma reactor. and the flow rate of real flue gas is $20Nm^3/hr$. Paraffinic and olefinic hydrocarbons and ammonia were used as reagents. Olefinic hydrocarbon oxidizes NO more actively than paraffinic hydrocarbon under the non-thermal plasma conditions, resulting in the generation of large amount of $NO_2$ and a very small amount of CO. When the initial NOx concentration increases. oxidation rate of NO decreases and the consumption rate of olefinic hydrocarbon increases significantly. On the other hand. $NH_3$ did not promote reduction reaction with NO under non-thermal plasma conditions. however, there was a tendency that the NHa was effective to remove the $NO_2$ oxidized by olefinic hydrocarbon.

  • We are facing the serious environmental pollution difficulties such as acid rain, green house effects, etc. The gaseous matter NOx, SOx, VOCs which are regarded as main factors for these current pollutions are mainly emitted from power plants and vehicles. Therefore several leading countries are regulating the emissions strictly, especially the exhaust emissions from a Diesel engine without an aftertreatment device. The objective of this study is to find out soot and NO removal characteristics focused on the emissions of a Diesel engine by using nonthermal plasma for each engine speeds and loads. Electrostatic precipitator(wire-to-plate type reactor) is used for soot removal. Radicals generated from outer air and put into a mixing chamber in the end of exhaust line are used for NO removal. Concentration of exhaust emissions is analyzed from the gas analyzer(KaneMay) and FTIR to estimate by-products.

  • Plasma researches using parallel-plate electrodes are widely used in semiconductor application such as etching and thin film deposition. Therefore, a quantitative understanding and control of plasma behavior are becoming increasingly necessary because their important applications and simulation techniques have been actively carried out in order to solve such problems above. In this paper, we developed a two-dimensional(2D) self-consistent fluid model, because 2D models can deal with real reactor geometries. The fluid model is based on particle continuity equations for taking account of an electrode system in a cylindrical geometry. An pure Ar gas was used at 500[mTorr] and radio-frequency (13.56(MHz)). Four models were simulated under the different electrode geometries which have chamber widths of 5.25, 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0[cm] and we compared their results with each other. Plasma uniformity and a do self-bias voltage were also discussed.
