Compression tests were carried out to investigate morphologies of compressed specimen, deformation microstructure and stress-strain relation in high-nitrogen austenite stainless steel. Tests were performed under a wide range of temperature and, with true strain rates up to $\dot{\varepsilon}$ =0.05, 0.1, 0.5 and $1.0s^{-1}$. The activation energy of loading force was equal to plastic deformation energy within the temperature range of $900^{\circ}C$ to $1250^{\circ}C$. Dynamically recrystallized grain size decreased with an increasing strain rate and temperature. Flow stresses and deformation microstructures, were used to quantify the critical strain rate and recrystallized grain size. The grain size versus strain rate-temperature map obtained in the study was in good agreement with the deformation microstructures of compressed specimens.

The correlation between crystallization and deformation behavior in the supercooled liquid region (SLR) of a $Cu_{54}Ni_{6}Zr_{22}Ti_{18}$ bulk metallic glass (BMG) alloy is investigated by compression tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). In the SLR, This BMG alloy was strongly depended on the deformation temperature and the alloy exhibits important change in deformation behavior after a given time which is directly connected to the development of crystallization. Compressive stress impeded decomposition and consequently retarded forming of nano-crystal, which led to enlarge the homogeneous deformation region of the BMG alloy in SLR during compression test.

The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of the plastic/elastic deformation energy on wet etching characterization on the surface of material by using the nanoindentation and HF wet etching technique. Indents were made on the surface of Pyrex 7740 glass by the hyperfine indentation process with a Berkovich diamond indenter, and they were etched in $50\;wt\%$ HF solution. After etching process, convex structure was obtained due to the deformation-induced hillock phenomena. In this study, effects of indentation process parameters (normal load, loading rate) on the morphologies of the indented surfaces after isotopic etching were investigated from an angle of deformation energies.

A mathematical model for the analysis of roll gap phenomena in strip temper rolling process is described. The mechanical peculiarities of temper rolling process, such as high friction value and non-circular contact arc, low reduction and non-negligible entry and exit elastic zones as well as central restricted deformation (preliminary displacement or sticking) zone etc., are all taken into account. The deformation of work rolls is calculated with the influence function method and arbitrary contact arc shape is permitted. The strip deformation is modeled by slab method and the entry and exit elastic deformation zones are included. The restricted deformation zone near the neutral point is also considered. The concept and the calculation method of limiting preliminary displacement are used to determine the length of the central restricted deformation zone. The comparison of the model results with the measured mill data is also made.

The effects of secondary phase morphology and carbon content on the plastic deformation of 0.2C-1.5Si-1.5mn TRIP(TRansformed Induced Plasticity) steel have been investigated at various annealing and bainitic transformation temperatures. The morphology of ferrite and secondary phases was controlled by the annealing temperature and the distribution of secondary phase was controlled by the bainitic transformation temperature. The secondary phase contributed to elongation and/or UTS depending on the ferrite morphology which determined deformation mode simple elongation or rotation of secondary phase along the tensile direction In case of the sample containing the granular type retained austenite the elongation was improved as carbon stabilized the austenite phase. If the film-shape retained austenite in acicular ferrite was dominant however UTS was enhanced as the transformed martensite was hardened by carbon.
Most studies of failure analysis in ductile metals have been based on the classical plasticity theory using the local constitutive relations. These frequently yields a physically unrealistic solution, in which a numerical prediction of the onset of a deformation localization shows an inherent mesh-size sensitivity. A one way to remedy the spurious mesh sensitivity resulted in the unreasonable results is to incorporate the non-local plasticity into the simulation model, which introduce an internal (material) length-scale parameter into the classical constitutive relations. In this paper, a non-local version of the modified Gurson constitutive relation has been introduced into the finite element formulation of the simulation for plane strain compression of the visco elastic-plastic void material. By introducing the non-local constitutive relations we could successfully removed the inherent mesh-size sensitivity for the prediction of the deformation localization. The effects of non-local constitutive relation are discussed in terms of the load-stroke curve and the strain distributions accross the shear band.

In th is paper, to predicting the large deformation and cyclic plastic behavior of steel members under loading, 3-Dimensional elastic-plastic FE analysis method is developed by using finite deformation theory and proposed cyclic plasticity model. finite deformation theory, described the large deformation, is formulated by using Updated-lagrangian formulation and Green's strain tensor, Jaumann's derivative of Kirchoff stress. Also, cyclic plasticity model proposed by author is applied to developed analysis method. To verification of developed analysis method, analysis result of steel plate specimen compare to the analysis result using infinitesimal deformation theory and test result. Also, load-displacement and deflection shape, analysis result of pipe-section steel column, compare to test result. The good agreement between analysis result and experiment result shown that developed 3-dimensional finite element analysis can be predict the large deformation and cyclic plastic behavior of steel members.

When workability at the a certain bulk deformation process is defined as the maximum plastic deformation capability that the workpiece can sustain without causing any cracks or fracture, the workability is dependent on the microstructure, initial workpiece shape, stress state developed during the deformation process, strain rata and presence of the interfacial friction between workpiece and tool. For a review purpose, the workability definition and test methods are summarized depending on the applied stress state at bulk deformation process in Table 1 at the text. In this study, the cold workabilities of as-cast A16061 bulk material have been measured and comparatively analyzed at the primary tensile stress state by using tensile specimens, the primary compressive stress state by using cylindrical specimens, and the forming limit diagram by ductile fracture.

The distortion and fracture of heat treated components is a major industrial problem, which may considerably increase the costs of operations that involve high cooling rates. And also, thermal deformation would be generated during Heat Treatment. In this paper, the purpose is to check out the thermally deformed components during heat treatment and to analyze thermal deformation and thermal stress by two dimensional Finite Element Method. And two dimensional FEM program is evaluated for heat transfer and thermal deformation.

Although magnesium has high potential for structural material due to the lightweight and high specific strength, the structural application has been limited by the low ductility at room temperature. The reason of the poor ductility is few activated slip systems of magnesium (HCP structure) during deformation. As temperature increases, however, additional non-basal slip systems are incorporated to exhibit higher ductility comparable to aluminum. In the present study, a series of tensile tests of Mg-Al alloy has been carried out to study deformation behavior with temperature variation. Analysis of load relaxation test results based on internal variable approach gave information about relationship between the micromechanical character and corresponding deformation behavior of magnesium. Especially, the material parameter, p representing dislocation permeability through barriers was altered from 0.1 to 0.15 as the non-basal slip systems were activated at high temperature.
