In order to evaluate soil factors affecting the growth of Italian poplar, 23 areas planted with Italian poplar were surveyed. These 23 areas were classified into 3 categories, river-side, fallow-land and hill-side. The growth performance and soil factors for each area were investigated. The growth of Italian poplar at river-side was shown to be superior to that of fallow-land and fill-side. The rates of growth for fallow-land and hill-side are decreased by 8% and 21% compared to those of river-side, respectively. This suggests that plantation of Italian poplar at hill-side would not be profitable. Soil conditions of high productive area appeared liquid phase 20%, porosity 45%, water holding capacity 35 - 40%, soil hardness $1kg/cm^3$. pH 6 and rich in organic matter and total nitrogen. The results of factor analysis for soil factors affecting to Italian poplar growth that showed eigenvalue over 1 and communality value over 70% explained factor 1 : liquid phase, porosity and water holding capacity, factor 2 : pH and calcium, and factor 3 : soil hardness. This suggests that physical characteristics of soil is more important than chemical characteristics for Italian poplar growth. Multiregerssion analysis was conducted between diameter growth and soil hardness, liquid phase and calcium. The t-values for each independent variables showed significance at 1 - 10% level, but water holding capacity and pH are not significant. It is supposed that sites suitable to Italian poplar were alluvial plain of sandy loam or part of banking soil, well-ventilating soil, lower soil hardness, apposite soil moisture absorbing with about 100cm of ground water level, plentiful organic matters and total nitrogen and little acidity soil.
The dual drug-loaded alginate beads simultaneously containing drug in inner and outer layers were prepared by dropping plain (single-layered) alginate beads into $CaCl_2$ solution. The release characteristics were evaluated in simulated gastric fluid for 2 h followed by intestinal fluids thereafter for 12 h. The surface morphology and cross section of dual drug-loaded alginate beads was also investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The poorlv water-soluble ibuprofen was chosen as a model drug. The surface of single-layered and dual drug-loaded alginate beads showed very crude and roughness, showing aggregated particles, surface cracks and rough crystals. The thickness of dual drug-loaded alginate beads surrounded by outer layer was ranged from about 57 to 329mcm. The distinct chasm between inner and outer layers was also observed. In case of single-layered alginate bead, the drug was not released in gastric fluid but was largely released in intestinal fluid. However, the release rate decreased as the reinforcing $Eudragit^{\circledR}$ polymer contents increased. When the plasticizers were added into polymer, the release rate largely decreased. The release rate of dual drug-loaded alginate beads was stable in gastric fluid for 2 h but largely increased when switched in intestinal fluid. The drug linearly released for 4 h followed by another linear release thereafter, showing a distinct biphasic release characteristics. There was a difference in the release profiles between single-layered and dual drug-loaded alginate beads due to their structural shape. However, this biphasic release profiles were modified by varying formulation compositions of inner and outer layer of alginate beads. The release rate of dual drug-loaded alginate beads slightly decreased when the outer layer was reinforced with $Eudragit^{\circledR}$ RS1OO polymers. In case of dual drug-loaded alginate beads with polymer-reinforced outer layer only, the initial amount of druc released was low but the initial release rate (slope) was higher due to more swellable inner cores when compared to polymer-reinforced inner cores. The current dual drug-loaded alginate beads may be used to deliver the drugs in a time dependent manner.

Geographic Information System(GIS) is useful to preserve cultural heritage and land use management using both spatial information management technique and spatial analysis function in cultural heritage management. The purpose of this study is to build a database of pottery and kiln sites in South Korea, to analyze site locations and finally to make prediction model. The locations of 1,200 sites are put into GIS database. Such factor elevation, slope angle, aspect, horizontal/vertical distance from the nearest water are analyzed. Each factor was statistically analyzed on GIS and represented to rank 1-5. Pottery/kiln can be predicted by the spatial analysis function in overlay methods. As a result of this study, preliminary application of prediction model shows that the high potential area is between the slope and alluvial plain. Field survey in the Sungbuk-dong in Daejeon city supports the preliminary result. More data can make improve efficient prediction model in unknown areas.
Parental care of eggs of Chromis fumea (Tanaka) was observed by Skin Scuba gear in August 1995 off Cheju Island. The eggs and larval development were observed in the laboratory at Pukyong National University, Pusan. Eggs were deposited on a flat surface of hard substratum and formed a plain sheet of one layer of eggs. Males showed parental care of the eggs by hovering over the nest and attacking other fishes that approached the nest. The spawned eggs were transparent, elliptical in shape and measured 0.73~0.88 mm in long axis and 0.50~0.56 mm in short axis. An analysis by T-test of the long axis of the egg with time showed a significant difference (p<0.01). However, there was no significant difference in short axis with time. Eggs were reared at water temperatures of $23.0{\sim}25.5^{\circ}C$ and took about 4~5 days from embryonic body stage to hatching. The newly hatched larvae were 1.10~1.61 mm in notochord length (NL) had 21 myomeres, has closed mouth but open anus, preanus length was 45.8% of NL. Melanophores were distributed on the occipital region of head, the eye, the peritoneal region, and along the ventral contour. The larvae absorbed the yolk material and oil globule in 3~4 days after hatching and became postlarvae. On the third day after hatching, the larvae had attained 1.9~2.4 mm in NL, had 25 myomeres, and showed rapid growth. By the ninth day after hatching, the larvae had attained 2.9 mm in NL, had an swimbladder in the dorsal margin of ventral region, the preanus length was 37.9% of NL, and their melanophores were enlarged and reduced in number.
Recently, surface finishing and protection materials were developed to restore performance of the deteriorated concrete and inhibiting corrosion of the reinforcing-bar. For this purpose, surface protection agent as well as coatings are used. Coatings have the advantage of low Permeability of $CO_2,\;SO_2$ and water. However, for coatings such as epoxy, urethane and acryl, long-term adhesive strength is reduced and the formed membrane of those is blistered by various causes. Also when organic coatings are applied to the wet surface of concrete, those have a problem with adhesion. On the other hand, surface protection agent penetrates into pore structure in concrete through capillary and cm make a dense micro structure in concrete as a result of filling effect. Furthermore, the chemical reaction between silicate from surface protection agent and cement hydrates can also make a additional hydration product which is ideally compatible with concrete body. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of penetrative surface protection agent(SPA) by evaluating several concrete durability characteristics. The results show that the concrete penetrated surface protection agent exhibited higher durability characteristics for instance, carbonation velocity coefficient, resistance to chemical attack and chloride ion penetration than the plain concrete. These results due to formation of a discontinuous macro-pore system which inhibits deterioration factors of concrete by changed the pore structure(porosity and pore size distributions) of the concrete penetrated surface protection agent.
To investigate the effect of N split application on the increasing ratio of yield and the yield of rice, urea and slow-releasing complex for sideband placement of fertilizer were applied in Jeonbuk series of Honam plain area. Increasing ratio of yield by N split application was higher in puddled drill seeding (PDS) than flooded direct seeding surface (FDSS) under split application of 40-0-30-30% and 70-0-0-30% at basal, 3 leaf, 5 leaf and panicle initiation stage, respectively. It was also higher in LCU application of 70 % of total urea amount than urea application but was not different between two methods of seeding in urea application. Nitrogen ratio transfered to rough grain of rice was higher in FDSS than PDS, errespective of methed of split application, except for the split application of 0, 40, 30 and 30% N fertilizer at basal, 3 leaf, 5 leaf and panicle initiation stage, respectively. Nitrogen amount outflowed by artificial drainage for paddy field drying in a day after application of fertilizer was 1,134g/10a in PDS. $NH_4-N$ incerased higher in PDS than FDSS under split application of urea, while was versa under LCU application.

In this paper, the fabric specimen undergoes repeated laundering under given condition. After this cyclic laundering was applied, the crease recoveries of the specimen were measured using shirley crease revovery tester in order to evaluate the effect of factors at given condition during crease deformation. 5 samples of grey plain cloth were desized, alkali-scoured, bleached, whased with water, and air-dried. All tests were made on samples preconditioned to $65\%\;RH\;and\;20^{\circ}C$. The experimental results were analysed statistically to relate crease recoveries and the properties of smaples, recovery periods (time) of crease. Furthermore, the crease recoveries of core-spun yarn woven fabrics were discussed in comparison with those values for $100\%$ combed cotton yarn woven fabric and $65\%$ polyester $35\%$ carded cotton blended yarn woven fabric. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Regardless of materials, remarkable decrease are observed in crease recoveries about 1-5 cycles of the repeated laundering, but slack decrease are observed in crease recoveries after 5 cycle of the re-peated laundering. 2. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to recovery periods (t) of crease as follows; log$\alpha$=0.01415 log t+2.1168 ($r^2=0.94$) 3. Core-spun yarn woven fabrics were superior to $100\%$ combed cotton yarn woven fabrics and $65\%$ polyester $35\%$ carded cotton blended yarn woven fabric in crease recoveries. 4. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to cover factor (CF), thickness (T) at pressure 0.5 $gf/cm^2$, weight (W) as follows; log$\alpha$=-0.3482 log CF-0.4924 log T-0.4727 W+2.4243 ($r^2=0.88$) 5. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to 2HB/B, 2HB/W, $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$, WC/T which are concerning to formation of weared clothes and bending Iran formation behavior as follows: log $\alpha$=0.0091 2HB/B+0.4667 2HB/W+0.0185 $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$+0.0114 WC/T+1.8433 ($r^2=0.86$)
The purpose of this research is to investigate characteristics of lathe scrap for manufacturing fiber reinforced cementitious composites(FRCCs) to use lathe scrap as a alternative materials of steel fiber. It should be noted that the use of the lathe scrap for making FRCCs raised friendly environmental effect as well as economy because the lathe scrap was a by-product of steel manufactures. For this purpose, various steel scraps were collected from processing plants of metal and then their physical properties were evaluated. Also, steel scraps were classified and analyzed according to the KS D 2101 and then of these scraps, lathe scrap as a alternative materials of steel fiber was suggested. In addition, FRCCs containing lathe scraps were made according to their total volume fractions of 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0% for water-binder ratios of 30%, 40%, respectively, and then characteristics, such as the workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength of those were evaluated. It was observed from the test result that the compressive strengths at 7 and 28 days of FRCCs containing lathe scrap were slightly small but the flexural strengths at 28 days of those increased by 10% compared with plain concrete.
In this study, scaled model tests were performed on blasting demolition of reinforced concrete structures and the experimental results were analyzed in comparison with the results of numerical analysis. The tests were designed to induce a progressive collapse, and physical properties of the scaled model were determined using scale factors obtained ken dimension analysis. The scaled model structure was made of a mixture of plaster, sand and water at the ratio determined to yield the best scaled-down strength. Lead wire was used as a substitute for reinforcing bars. The scaled length was at the ratio of 1/10. Selecting the material and scaled factors was aimed at obtaining appropriately scaled-down strength. PFC2D (Particle Flow Code 2-Dimension) employing DEM (Distinct Element Method) was used for the numerical analysis. Blasting demolition of scaled 3-D plain concrete laymen structure was filmed and compared to results of numerical simulation. Despite the limits of 2-D simulation the resulting demolition behaviors were similar to each other. Based on the above experimental results in combination with bending test results of RC beam, numerical analysis was carried out to determine the blasting sequence and delay times. Scaled model test of RC structure resulted in remarkably similar collapse with the numerical results up to 900㎳ (mili-second).

This study evaluates the physical mechanical properties, durability and sound absorbtion of porous concrete for pavement according to content of silica fume and steel fiber to elicit the presentation of data and the way to enhance its function for the practical field application of porous concrete as a material of pavement. The results of the test indicate that in every condition, the void ratio and the coefficient of water permeability of porous concrete for pavement satisfy both the domestic standards and proposition values. Among the properties of strength, the compressive strength satisfies the standards in the specification of Korea National Housing Corporation as for every factor of mixture but in the case of the flexural strength, more than 0.6vol.% of steel fiber satisfied the Japan Concrete Institute proposition values. The mixture of silica fume and steel fiber presents the excellent intensity, though. The case when silica fume and steel fiber are used simultaneously presents the strongest durability because the durability shows the similar tendency to the dynamic characteristics. The case when 10wt.% of silica fume and 0.6vol.% of steel fiber are used at the same time shows that the loss rate of mass by Cantabro test became 27% better and freeze-thaw resistance became 60% better. As for the characteristics of sound absorption of porous concrete for pavement, Noise Reduction Coefficient is 0.48 to prove that it possesses almost 50% sound absorption.
