The case clinical report for chronic proststis by hominis placenta herbal-acupunture (자하거약침을 이용한 만성 전립선염 환자의 치험예)

  • Objective It is difficult medicine pass by prostatic barrier. so prostatis is charaterized as relatively incurable illness. Neverthless in chronic prostatis, there is improvement of symptom and blood test numberical index by hominis placenta herbal-acupunture. The purpose of this report is evaluate of improvement of symptom and blood test numberical index by hominis placenta herbal-acupunture Method We observed 2 chronic proststis patient for 6 months. It is evaluate of treatment effect by NIH-chronic prostatis symptom index(CPSI) and expressed prostatic secretion(EPS) per 1month. Result The hominis placenta herbal-acupunture therapy is effective to treat chronic proststis. NIH-CPSI and EPS WBC were decreased considrably.

Three Cases of Frozen Shoulder Treated with Hominis Placenta Pharmacopuncture and Chuna Manual Therapy (자하거 약침과 추나 요법으로 호전된 동결견 치험 3례)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of hominis placenta pharmacopuncture and chuna manual therapy in patients with frozen shoulder. Methods: Frozen shoulder was treated with hominis placenta pharmacopuncture and chuna manual therapy, and the overall shoulder pain was measured by visual analog scale (VAS), and the range of motion (ROM) of shoulder movement was evaluated by measuring passive abduction and external rotation and active hand to shoulder blade test. Results: After the treatment, overall shoulder pain was reduced, and ROM of passive abduction and external rotation was increased. Conclusions: The above results show that hominis placenta pharmacopuncture and chuna manual therapy can be used as an effective treatment for frozen shoulder.

  • Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is an abnormal placental adherence or invasion of the myometrium or extrauterine structures. As PAS is primarily staged and managed surgically, imaging can only guide and facilitate diagnosis. But, imaging can aid in preparations for surgical complexity in some cases of PAS. Ultrasound remains the imaging modality of choice; however, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is required for evaluation of areas difficult to visualize on ultrasound, and the assessment of the extent of placenta accreta. Numerous MRI features of PAS have been described, including dark intraplacental bands, placental bulge, and placental heterogeneity. Failure to diagnose PAS carries a risk of massive hemorrhage and surgical complications. This article describes a comprehensive, step-by-step approach to diagnostic imaging and its potential pitfalls.

The Effects of the Hominis Placenta Herbal acupuncture on Sleep pattern disturbance (자하거(紫河車) 약침(藥鐵)이 수면장애(睡眠障碍)에 미치는 효과(效果))

  • Objectives : This study has been designed and performed to identify the effect of Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture which is usually used in reducing sleep pattern disturbances. Methods : The study subjects studied included 48 patients who were admitted in hospital located in Pusan, and they were classified into 2 groups : 25 patients in the experimental group who injected Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture and 23 patients in the control group who were treated by acupuncture. The both group injected on $GB_{20}$, $GB_{12}$ and $GB_{20}$ for 5 days without medicine. The sleep pattern disturbance score was measured by using 15 questions according to Korean Sleep Scale A(Oh, Jin Joo. Song, Mi. Soon. Kim, Shin Mi. 1998). Results & conclusions : The sleep pattern disturbance score of the experimental group who injected Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture was significantly lower than that of the control group(t=7.00 p=.00). These results provided that Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture of $GB_{20}$, $GB_{12}$ and HT, was effective for relieving sleep pattern disturbances, it is need mere sample's number and more treatment's duration.

  • The placenta is a temporary fetomaternal organ capable of supporting fetal growth and development during pregnancy. In particular, abnormal development and dysfunction of the placenta due to cha nges in the proliferation, differentiation, cell death, and invasion of trophoblasts induce several gynecological diseases as well as abnormal fetal development. Autophagy is a catalytic process that maintains cellular structures by recycling building blocks derived from damaged microorganelles or proteins resulting from digestion in lysosomes. Additionally, autophagy is necessary to maintain homeostasis during cellular growth, development, and differentiation, and to protect cells from nutritional deficiencies or factors related to metabolism inhibition. Induced autophagy by various environmental factors has a dual role: it facilitates cellular survival in normal conditions, but the cascade of cellular death is accelerated by over-activated autophagy. Therefore, cellular death by autophagy has been known as programmed cell death type II. Autophagy causes or inhibits cellular death via the other mechanism, apoptosis, which is programmed cell death type I. Recently, it has been reported that autophagy increases in placenta-related obstetrical diseases such as preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation, although the mechanisms are still unclear. In particular, abnormal autophagic mechanisms prevent trophoblast invasion and inhibit trophoblast functions. Therefore, the objectives of this review are to examine the characteristics and functions of autophagy and to investigate the role of autophagy in the placenta and the trophoblast as a regulator of cell death.

Study on a Single Oral Dose Toxicity Test of Horse Placenta Hydrolysate Extract in Sprague-Dawley Rats (말 태반 가수분해 추출물의 Sprague-Dawley Rat를 이용한 단회 경구투여 독성시험)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to analyze the single-dose toxicity of horse placenta hydrolysate extracts. Methods : Sprague-Dawley rats were chosen for the study. Doses of horse placenta hydrolysate extracts, 2,000 mg/kg, 1,000 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg, were administered to the experimental group, and the same doses of normal saline solution were administered to the control group. This study was conducted under the approval of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee. Results : In all 4 groups, no deaths occurred, and the horse placenta hydrolysate extracts administered by oral was over 2,000 mg/kg. No significant changes in the weight between the control group and the experimental group were observed. To check for abnormalities in organs and tissues, we used microscopy to examine representative histological sections of each specified organ, the results showed no significant differences in any organs or tissues. Conclusions : The above findings suggest that treatment with horse placenta hydrolysate extracts is relatively safe. Further studies on this subject should be conducted to yield more concrete evidence.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate and report the effectiveness of Hominis Placenta pharmacopuncture treatment for chronic ankle sprain. Methods 2 patients are treated at Dept. of Korean Medicine, the Armed Forces Busan Hospital, diagnosed as thinning of anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), suggestive of partial tear and anterior tibiofibular ligament partial tear. They are treated with Hominis Placenta pharmacopuncture. Each cases are measured and assessed by ankle hindfoot scale (AHS), visual analgue scale (VAS), cumberland ankle instability tool (CAIT) scores. Results 2 patients of chronic disease of ankle sprain have a different kind of diagnoses they have. After treatment of Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture, spontaneous pain is decreased and ankle instability, ankle functions are increased significantly. Conclusions Hominis placenta Pharmacopuncture has a effect on chronic ankle sprain.

  • Objective : Oculomotor nerve palsy is a disorder which causes eyeball movement trouble, diplopia, dizziness and eyelid ptosis. It is caused by aneurysm, mass, trauma, infection and so on. But sometimes we can't establish the cause. We observed 3 cases of idiopathic oculomotor nerve palsy patient treated with hominis placenta pharmacopuncture. Method & Result : We treated three idiopathic oculomotor nerve palsy patients with hominis placenta pharmacopuncture and electroacupuncture. As the result, symptoms of three patients were improved remarkably. Conclusion : In this cases, the hominis placenta pharmacopuncture is effective on idiopathic oculomotor nerve palsy. We need further study about idiopathic oculomotor nerve palsy and hominis placenta pharmacopuncture.

  • Purpose. Free radicals are implicated in the pathophysiology of aging, ischemic injury and neurodegenerative disorders. To deform]no whether Hominis Placenta extract prevents $H_2O_2$-induced apoptosis, we have performed morphological and biochemical analyses for the detection of apoptotic phenomena in the pineal tumor cell line $PGT-{\beta}$ We have also peformed cytochemical and immunocytochemical analyses for the detection of changes in nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity and estimated the expression . of apoptotic genes using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Methods. $PGT-{\beta}\;cells$ were pretreated with Hominis Placenta extracts $(0,\;10^{-2}\;{\mu}g/ml)$ for 2 hours and then exposed to $H_2O_2\;(0,\;50\;{\mu}M)$ for 3 hours. Appearance of apoptotic characteristics were monitored using 4, 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride (DAPI) staining assay, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-digoxigenin nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay and flow cytometric analysis. NOS activity was measured by NADPH-diaphorase cytochemistry. Expression of inducible NOS (iNOS) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF k B) was assessed via immunocytochemistry. The expression of apoptotic genes was examined by RT-PCR. Results. After 3 flours of exposure to $H_2O_2$, it was shown that $PGT-{\beta}\;cells$ treated with $H_2O_2(50\;{\mu}M)$ exhibit classical apoptotic features and increases in NOS activity and caspase-3 expression. Treatment with Hominis Placenta extract resulted in a reduced occurrence of apoptotic features. DAPI staining, TUNEL and flow cytometric assays revealed decreases in the occurrence of nuclear fragmentation and in the sub-Gl fraction in the $PGT-{\beta}\;cells$ treated with Hominis Placenta extract. Cells treated with Hominis Placenta extract also showed lower activity of NADPH-diaphorase and immunoreactivities of both iNOS and NF k B than those of $H_2O_2$-treated cells which were not treated with Hominis Placenta extract. By RT-PCR, it was shown that the level of caspase-3 mRNA was derreased In the cells treated with Hominis Placenta . extract. Conclusions. This study shows that Hominis Placenta extract prevents $H_2O_2$-induced apoptosis in $PGT-{\beta}\;cells$; inhibitions of iNOS and caspnse-3 are possible mechanisms of the protection against apoptosis.

The Case Report of Trigger Finger Improved with Hominis Placenta Pharmacopuncture Treatment (자하거 약침으로 호전된 방아쇠 수지 환자의 증례 보고)

  • Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate and report the effectiveness of Hominis Placenta using Pharmacopuncture treatment for trigger finger. Methods : 3 Patients are admitted at Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation, Bu-Chun Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital, diagnosed as Trigger finger and treated with Hominis Placenta Pharmacopuncture. Each cases are measured and assessed by Quinnell's classification of triggering and VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) scores. Results : 3 Patients of trigger finger have a different kind of cause and fingers lesion they have, but nodules are not significantly found up, so we could classify all of 3 patients to diffuse type. After treatment of Hominis placenta Pharmacopuncture, spontaneous pain and tenderness, grades of triggering are decreased significantly. We would expect that Hominis placenta Pharmacopuncture has a effect on degenerative diseases of diffuse type's tendon sheath. Conclusions : Trigger finger is generally divided into two stages, inflammatory and degenerative stage, and when degenerative stage, Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture appears to be effective.
