  • In this study, we investigated the perception difference of industrial managers and engineering faculties in the engineering education, and searched for a rational solution to resolve this perception differences. Both engineering faculties and industrial managers place strong emphasis on practical training, but they showed a significant difference in addressing the issues on the graduates of engineering education have. This different perceptions are occurred since the industrial managers prefer "the instant(or ready-made) human resource type", the ones to put to work right away whereas professors prefer the ones with the strong basic knowledge, "the potential human resource type", who may in the long run contribute to the development of the industry. We believe Finland Helsinki Engineering School's co-op course and Pennsylvania State University's Capstone Design Education are the good examples of nurturing "practical" human resource although both programs are conducted in very different imaginative ways.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the status of the nutritional education program on educational perception, facilities, contents and systems, which were focused on the school obesity education in the elementary school. A five point Likert scale was used to evaluate the importance and performance of each item in four sections of the survey and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA; gap between importance and performance) matrix analysis was applied to determine improvement priority. The findings from IPA matrix analysis are in the following. The items of the sections to be improved intensively are recognition of parents and in-charge teacher, availability of the education place, preparation of consulting room, preparation of various teaching media, interest of an education program, meal adjustment of overweight children, combination with education and exercise, education for psychological factors, development of scientific and systematic education program and reduction of meal service duty for education. Accordingly, the IPA matrix analysis suggested that an intensive improvement area should be excessively concentrated on for better performance. The regional gap between importance and performance showed significant difference for textbook and diet of overweight children in Kyunggi-Do. There were significant differences for the government perception, dietary habits and food-life education, fast-food education, education for breakfast importance, and education of school meal indication system and method to read food nutrition indication in Chollabuk-Do. As for the age gap between importance and performance, the twenties showed significantly bigger gaps in perception of school dietitians and linking between school meals and diet education. Therefore, more proactive efforts for the education for obesity prevention are necessary to prevent childhood obesity in elementary school and to help children to possess better health throughout their entire lives.

  • In existing method, research for landscape resource is driven by professional (or with the participation of local people at Tokenism level), and usually hinder local residents from reflecting their appreciations on the landscape resources in their own ways and eventually ends up with indistinguishable landscape planning. To avoid this, a profound understanding of what landscape they experience in their daily life and how they perceive it should be empirically analysed carefully. The purpose of this study is to apply walking behavior as a method to examine local residents' subjective perceptions and consider its usability. The researcher walked the site(Sucheongri) with the residents, carrying a GPS device, taking photographs of the landscape objects they described, and recording the relevant explanations. After gathering photographs and explanations which represent the research participants' individual subjective perception, the researcher analysed the explanation using open coding, based on grounded theory. By the analysis, 117 landscape objectives are identified and 18 reason factors for landscape perception were deduced from the explanation. Those factors could be classified as 'positive feeling inducing' and 'negative feeling inducing', and also as 'personal emotion based' and 'community based emotion'. By comparison between feeling map by conventional method and feeing map by new method, usability of new method was empirically reveled. Walking behavior makes it easier for researcher to get more abundant data in quantitative aspect and profound understanding with affection of respondent by allowing them to 'go beyond' the perceptions they remember. Finally new method with walking gives professionals a contextual understanding of a place and more resident-oriented plans and management on sites.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the pro-con of re-implementation by administrative areas and the difference in perception of community water fluoridation in implemented and non-implemented areas after the community water fluoridation in Korea was suspended. Through this, we intend to provide basic data that can help find ways to increase the support and interest of local residents. Methods: The 601 questionnaires collected through the survey and statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS Statistics 28.0. Results: As a result of analyzing the perception of the community water fluoridation according to the understanding of fluorine, the proportion of people who were not recognized by both fluorine and community water fluoridation was the highest (p<0.05). As a result of the analysis of the pro-con of re-implementation of community water fluoridation, the approval was high. Among those who responded in favor, the place of re-implementation showed that 'implementation nationwide' was high. As for the reason for favor, it was found that it was possible to prevent dental caries disease. The reason for the objection was the lack of knowledge about fluoride. Conclusion: The results of the survey for the pro-con of the re-implementation of community water fluoridation showed a higher degree of 'agree' and showed that people in the area where community water fluoridation was not implemented showed higher interest in oral health prevention and management. Through this, not only oral education, but also correct information on the implementation method of community water fluoridation, the benefits of community water fluoridation, and the facts that were misunderstood in the past, as well as oral education, can be provided to raise interest in community water fluoridation. It is thought that the expected effect of the re-implementation of community water fluoridation can be obtained if such activities are carried out.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate individuals' perceptions toward green tea and green tea cafes according to their usage of green tea cafes, gender, and marital status. The survey was conducted online and completed by 200 respondents who had been to green tea cafes and by 200 respondents who had not. The visitors of green tea cafes had more positive perceptions regarding the atmosphere, familiar taste, good quality of raw foods, freshness of foods, good service, excellent taste, and menu variety of green tea cafes. Males perceived green tea as 'good for health' more than the females. There was no difference in the perception of green tea cafes by marital status. Regarding a popularization plan for green tea cafes, the customers felt more need for a tea sommelier than the non-customers, and females versus males felt stronger about having a tea sommelier that would provide opportunities to taste various tea products and develop a green tea menu that considered nutrition and health. Unmarried respondents felt a greater necessity for having a place with a comfortable environment, tasting a variety of tea products, and having a chance to experience tea culture. When selecting a green tea cafe, the quality of the food and cleanliness of the cafe were considered to be most important. The implications of the data are discussed.

  • Energy environment has been changing rapidly such as the fluctuation of oil prices and the effect on UNFCCC. Oil price change affects Korea's economy heavily due to her poor natural resources and large dependence of consumed energy resources. Korea takes the 4th place of importing the crude oil and 9th place in $CO_2$ emissions with the 1st place of $CO_2$ emissions increasing rate. Considering the current statue of Korea including oil price change and UNFCCC, Korea will be expected to be the Annex I nation due to Korean energy environments and the quantity of $CO_2$ emission. Energy technology development is a crucial key to cope with Korea's national energy security and environments. In this study, we establish the framework, which allocates the relative weights of assessment criteria and sub-criteria, for assessing and selecting R&D programs of energy technologies strategically. We integrated fuzzy theory and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach since the fuzzy AHP approach reflects the vagueness of human thoughts and perception effectively as making pairwise comparisons of criteria and alternatives. The fundamental data of this research results will support R&D planning phase for policy-makers and the production of well focused R&D outcomes.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand modernization process of korean housing during the past one century. To following up the changes of everyday lives of common peoples, magazines, news papers, tourist's records and gossip items were collected and interpreted from the microscopic point of view. In this study arguments on 'modernity' of korean housing was focused on some issues, thus, separation, differentiation, individualization, as well as privatization. Concrete discourses are; firstly, spatial isolation of housing and urban place each other, secondly, functional division of inner spaces of housing, and lastly, guarantee of privacy sphere. Historical changes of housing showed some meaningful phenomena. Before modernization housing was place of reproduction and consume at the same time. However after modern urban space came into existence and work and rest were separated, housing gained only mono function. Thus, housing have only one meaning as private place for nuclear family, that is "Home, Sweet Home." Instead of past multi-functional rooms, functional prescribed rooms, for example, dinning room, were newly born. In the past, the boundary between public and private sphere was not clear. For examples, everyday experiences of family were extended to the street and in the house in most cases spaces were shared. But after modernization the scale of individual spaces become larger and private life can be secured. Consequently, history of everyday life from traditional agricultural society to industrialized modern society demonstrates the structural context between the micro and macro dimension in the fields of human life. In other words, everyday lives and macro history response each other and create new perception of time-space structure in the modern housing.
