A 2D barcode region localization system for the automatic inspection of a long distance logistics objects has been developed. For the successful 2D barcode localization, variance and frequency of the pixel distribution within average 2D barcodes is modeled and the average model of 2D barcode is combined with the corner features detection to localize the final 2D barcode candidates. An automatic 2D barcode localization software was developed with the multiple features mixture method and we tested our system on real camera images of several popular 2D barcode symbologies.
This paper proposes an efficient method to remove the boundary artifacts of rendered views caused by damaged depth maps in the 3D video system. First, characteristics of boundary artifacts with the compression noise in depth maps are carefully studied. Then, the artifacts suppression method is proposed by the iterative projection onto convex sets (POCS) algorithm with setting the convex set in pixel and frequency domain. The proposed method is applied to both texture and depth maps separately during view rendering. The simulation results show the boundary artifacts are greatly reduced with improving the quality of synthesized views.
Image coding based on mixed raster content model generates don't care regions (DCR) in foreground and background layers, and its overall coding performance is greatly affected by region filling methods for DCRs. Most conventional methods for DCR filling fail in utilizing the local signal properties in hole regions and thus the high frequency components in non-DCR regions are reflected into DCR after signal filling. In addition, further high frequency components are induced to the filled signal because of signal discontinuities in the boundary of DCR. To solve this problem, a new DCR filling algorithm using the priority-based adaptive region growing is proposed in this paper. The proposed method uses the watershed algorithm and the flooding priority of each pixel for region filling is determined from the degree of smoothness in the neighborhood area. By growing the filled region into DCR based on the computed priority, the expansion of high-textured area can be minimized which can improve the overall coding performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms conventional algorithms.

This paper presents an effective motion estimation to improve the performance of the motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) which is a core part of the wavelet-based scalable video coding. The proposed scheme makes the motion vector field uniform by the modified median operation and the search strategies using adjacent motion vectors, in order to enhance the pixel connectivity which is significantly relevant to the performance of the MCTF. Moreover, the motion estimation with variable block sizes that reflects the features of frames is introduced for further correlation improvement of the motion vector field. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method reduces the decomposed energy on the temporal high frequency subband frame up to 30.33% in terms of variance compared to the case of the full search with fixed block sizes.

H.264 suggests applying a 2-D 6-tap wiener filter to realize the interpolation for half-pixel positions, followed by a bilinear interpolation to get the data of quarter-pixels precision. This method is comparatively simpler; however, it only considers the affection of 4-connection neighborhood ignoring the influence that comes from the changing rate between respective neighborhoods. As a result, it has the characteristics of a Low-pass filter under the risk of losing high-frequency weights. The Cubic interpolation uses the gray-values within the larger regions of points to be sampled for interpolation. Nevertheless, the cubic interpolation is more complicated and computational. We give a deep analysis on the features while applying both bilinear and cubic interpolation in H.264 presenting a proper selection of interpolation algorithm with respect to specific distribution of gray-value in a certain grand block. The experiments point out that load far motion searching and interpolation are reduced when promoting the precision of interpolation simultaneously.
In this paper, we propose a new vision-based fire detection method for a real-life application. Most previous vision-based methods using color information and temporal variation of pixel produce frequent false alarms because they used a lot of heuristic features. Furthermore there is also computation delay for accurate fire detection. To overcome these problems, we first detected candidated fire regions by using background modeling and color model of fire. Then we made probabilistic models of fire by using a fact that fire pixel values of consecutive frames are changed constantly and applied them to a Bayesian Network. In this paper we used two level Bayesian network, which contains the intermediate nodes and uses four skewnesses for evidence at each node. Skewness of R normalized with intensity and skewnesses of three high frequency components obtained through wavelet transform. The proposed system has been successfully applied to many fire detection tasks in real world environment and distinguishes fire from moving objects having fire color.

Purpose Patient motion during myocardial perfusion SPECT can produce images that show visual artifacts and perfusion defects. This artifacts and defects remain a significant source of unsatisfactory myocardial perfusion SPECT. Motion correction has been developed as a way to correct and detect the patient motion for reducing artifacts and defects, and each motion correction uses different algorithm. We corrected simulated motion patterns with several motion correction methods and compared those images. Materials and Methods Phantom study was performed. The anthropomorphic torso phantom was made with equal counts from patient's body and simulated defect was added in myocardium phantom for to observe the change in defect. Vertical motion was intentionally generated by moving phantom downward in a returning pattern and in a non-returning pattern throughout the acquisition. In addition, Lateral motion was generated by moving phantom upward in a returning pattern and in a non-returning pattern. The simulated motion patterns were detected and corrected similarly to no-motion pattern image and QPS score, after Motion Detection and Correction Method (MDC), stasis, Hopkins method were applied. Results In phantom study, Changes of perfusion defect were shown in the anterior wall by the simulated phantom motions, and inferior wall's defect was found in some situations. The changes derived from motion were corrected by motion correction methods, but Hopkins and Stasis method showed visual artifact, and this visual artifact did not affect to perfusion score. Conclusion It was confirmed that motion correction method is possible to reduce the motion artifact and artifactual perfusion defect, through the apply on the phantom tests. Motion Detection and Correction Method (MDC) performed better than other method with polar map image and perfusion score result.
Homepage design on the Web is incredibly growing fast as the integrative information method than any other media. At the beginning the homepage was designed by text mostly, however, it has been changed to use the multimedia. Design in the Web is changed by the development of computer technology. Rnal destination of Web is an user platform that consists of pixel of monitor screen. Monitor requires different approach from printing material because of the limited of range of presentation and the property of light. This paper has studied to find the possibilities of expression of type which can be the basic structure for HTML. By the case study of homepage, it has analyzed the kind of types, presentation method, the number of frequency, and variation of design.
This study was purpose to evaluation of Modulation Transfer Function in Measurements by using the International electrotechnical commission standard(IEC 62220-1) which were edge device each angle by using edge method. In this study was Aero(Konica, Japan) image receptor which is a indirect Flat panel detector(FPD) was used. The size of matrix 1994 × 2430 (14"× 17" inch) which performed 12 bit processing and pixel pitch is 175 ㎛. The results of shown as MTF measurements at IEC standard. The amount of data seemed reasonable and at an MTF value of 0.1 the spatial frequencies were 2.56 cycles/mm at an angle of 2.4°. MTF value of 0.5 the spatial frequencies were 1.32 cycles/mm at an angle of 2.4°. This study were to evaluate MTF by setting each angle 2.0°~2.8° degrees the most effective optimal edge angle and to suggest the quantitative methods of measuring by using IEC.

This paper proposes a method for recognition of traffic signs using wavelet transform and shape information from the segmented traffic sign regions. It first segments traffic sign candidate regions by connected component algorithm from binary images, obtained by utilizing the RGB color ratio of each pixel in the image, and then extracts actual traffic sign regions based on their symmetries on X- and Y-axes. In the recognition stage, it utilizes shape information including moment edge correlogram and the number of crossings which concentric circular patterns from region center intersects with frequency information extracted by wavelet transform It finally performs recognition by measuring similarity with the templates in the database. The experimental results show the validity of the proposed method from geometric transformations and environmental factors.
