In the remote sensing researches, the reflected bright source such as snow, cloud have effects on the image quality of wanted signal. Even though those signal from bright source are adjusted in corresponding pixel level with atmospheric correction algorithm or radiometric correction, those can be problem to the nearby signal as one of the stray light source. Especially, in the step and stare observational method which makes one mosaic image with several snap shots, one of target area can affect next to the other snap shot each other. Presented in this paper focused on the stray light analysis from unwanted reflected bright source for geostationary ocean color sensor. The stray light effect for total 16 slot images each other were performed according to 8 band filters. For the realistic simulation, we constructed system modeling with integrated ray tracing technique which realizes the same space time in the remote sensing observation among the Sun, the Earth, and the satellite. Computed stray light effect in the results of paper demonstrates the distinguishable radiance value at the specific time and space.
In this paper, we propose a learning based compressive sensing algorithm for the purpose of side scan sonar image denoising. The proposed method is based on Iterative Shrinkage and Thresholding Algorithm (ISTA) framework and incorporates a powerful strategy that reinforces the non-linearity of deep learning network for improved performance. The proposed method consists of three essential modules. The first module consists of a non-linear transform for input and initialization while the second module contains the ISTA block that maps the input features to sparse space and performs inverse transform. The third module is to transform from non-linear feature space to pixel space. Superiority in noise removal and memory efficiency of the proposed method is verified through various experiments.
Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) is the main payload of the KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite(KOMPSAT) with the mission of cartography to build up a digital map of Korean territory including a Digital Terrain Elevation Map(DTEM). This instalment which comprises EOC Sensor Assembly and EOC Electronics Assembly produces the panchromatic images of 6.6 m GSD with a swath wider than 17 km by push-broom scanning and spacecraft body pointing in a visible range of wavelength, 510~730 nm. The high resolution panchromatic image is to be collected for 2 minutes during 98 minutes of orbit cycle covering about 800 km along ground track, over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/offset and on-board image data storage. The image of 8 bit digitization, which is collected by a full reflective type F8.3 triplet without obscuration, is to be transmitted to Ground Station at a rate less than 25 Mbps. EOC was elaborated to have the performance which meets or surpasses its requirements of design phase. The spectral response, the modulation transfer function, and the uniformity of all the 2592 pixel of CCD of EOC are illustrated as they were measured for the convenience of end-user. The spectral response was measured with respect to each gain setup of EOC and this is expected to give the capability of generating more accurate panchromatic image to the users of EOC data. The modulation transfer function of EOC was measured as greater than 16 % at Nyquist frequency over the entire field of view, which exceeds its requirement of larger than 10 %. The uniformity that shows the relative response of each pixel of CCD was measured at every pixel of the Focal Plane Array of EOC and is illustrated for the data processing.

Recently, detecting damages of civil infrastructures from digital images using deep learning technology became a very popular research topic. In order to adapt those methodologies to the field, it is essential to explain robustness of deep learning models. Our research points out that the existing pixel-based deep learning model evaluation metrics are not sufficient for detecting cracks since cracks have linear appearance, and proposes a new evaluation methodology to explain crack segmentation deep learning model more rationally. Specifically, we design, implement and validate a methodology to generate tolerance buffer alongside skeletonized ground truth data and prediction results to consider overall similarity of topology of the ground truth and the prediction rather than pixel-wise accuracy. We could overcome over-estimation or under-estimation problem of crack segmentation model evaluation through using our methodology, and we expect that our methodology can explain crack segmentation deep learning models better.
Rural areas, which account for about 90% of the country's land area, are increasing in importance and value as a space that performs various public functions. However, facilities that adversely affect residents' lives, such as livestock facilities, factories, and solar panels, are being built indiscriminately near residential areas, damaging the rural environment and landscape and lowering the quality of residents' lives. In order to prevent disorderly development in rural areas and manage rural space in a planned manner, detection and monitoring of hazardous facilities in rural areas is necessary. Data can be acquired through satellite imagery, which can be acquired periodically and provide information on the entire region. Effective detection is possible by utilizing image-based deep learning techniques using convolutional neural networks. Therefore, U-Net model, which shows high performance in semantic segmentation, was used to classify potentially hazardous facilities in rural areas. In this study, KOMPSAT ortho-mosaic optical imagery provided by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute in 2020 with a spatial resolution of 0.7 meters was used, and AI training data for livestock facilities, factories, and solar panels were produced by hand for training and inference. After training with U-Net, pixel accuracy of 0.9739 and mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 0.7025 were achieved. The results of this study can be used for monitoring hazardous facilities in rural areas and are expected to be used as basis for rural planning.

This paper contains a Hough transform based projection method derived from Radon transform for tracking dim unresolved(sub-pixel) moving targets that move along straight line parths across a time sequential image data. In contrast to several recently presented Hough transform methods using a compressed image referred to as the track map our proposed technique utilizing a set of projections taken along arbitrary orientations effectively increases the changes of target detection, and creates a robust track estimation environment by incorporating all the available knowledge obtained from the projections. Moreover, in order to quantitatively assess the estimation capability of the projection-based Hough transform algorithm, the analytical bounds on the Hough space parameter errors introduced by image space noise contamination are derived. The simulation yielded promising results of estimating the track parameters even under low signal to noise rations when our technique was tested against the time sequential sets of real infrared image data referred to as the HiCamps.

In this paper, we make a design study for a local oscillator system of the 100 ㎓ band cosmic radio receiving system. We use the YIG oscillator with digital driver which is the main oscillator. This oscillator has a good frequency and phase stability at some temperature variation, and the easy computer aided control characteristics. This total system designed to two subsystem, first is the oscillator system include YIG oscillator, tripler, harmonic mixer and triplexer etc., second is the PLL system to supply the precise and stable local oscillator frequency to mixer. The proposed local oscillator system in this paper can be used in a single or multi pixel receiver because this system can be lock the local oscillator frequency automatically using PC.

The changes of electromagnetic wave velocity in rock were monitored to investigate rock behaviors due to the drill & blasting excavations through georadar tomography during the construction of the underground rock laboratory (5 m wide, 6 m high, and 140 m long) at Mabuk-Ri, Goosung-Myun, Yongin-Si, Kyunggi-Do. Two horizontal boreholes spaced 1.4 m apart were drilled parallel to the test tunnel before excavating it, high-resolution crosshole georadar tomography with about 500 MHz electromagnetic waves was performed at pre-excavation phase (May, 1996) and post-excavation phase (August, 1996). The data were acquired with the combination of 34 sources and 44 receivers with space of 0.3 m. Only 11 continuous receivers were selectively utilized with one fixed source. Sampling interval was 0.4 ns and each trace has 512 samples. The first arrival of each trace was picked manually with a picking software. The total number of rays used in inversion amounted to 34x11 and the size of pixel was determined to be 0.3 m. As an inversion technique, SIRT(Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique) was applied in this study. The velocity of electromagnetic waves at post-excavation phase decreased as large as 15% in comparison with that at pre-excavation phase, which may be attributed to the creation of micro-cracks in rock due to excavations and saturation with groundwater. Small amount of borehole deviation made a critical effect in radar tomography. Totally different tomograms were created after borehole deviation corrections.
In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the difference in image characteristics when multiple camera images are captured for virtual space production. Sixty-four images were used by cross-mounting eight bodies and lenses, respectively. Image analysis compares and analyzes the standard deviation of the histogram and pixel distribution values. As a result of the analysis, it shows different image characteristics depending on the lens or image sensor, though it is a camera of the same model. In this paper, we have adjusted the distribution of the overall brightness value of the image to compensate for this difference. As a result, the average deviation was the maximum of (Indoor: 6.89, outdoor: 24.23), we obtained images with almost no deviation (Indoor: maximum 0.42, outdoor: maximum: 2.73). In the future, we will study and apply more accurate image analysis methods than image brightness distribution.

We present Herschel-PACS observations of L1448-MM, a Class 0 protostar with a prominent outflow, part of the DIGIT Key Program (PI: N. Evans). We detect numerous emission lines including CO and $H_2O$ rotational transitions, OH transitions, and [OI] forbidden transitions at wavelengths from 55 to 210 ${\mu}m$. The $H_2O$, [OI], mid-J CO (J < 23), and OH emission distributes along the outflow direction although high-J CO and other OH emission peaks at the central spatial pixel. According to our simple excitation analysis, CO seems to have two temperature components of warm and hot, which might be attributed to the PDR and shock, respectively. After exploring a wide range of physical conditions with a non-LTE LVG code, RADEX, we found that either shock alone or the combination of PDR and shock can explain the observations. The relative fraction of observed line luminosities suggest that L1448-MM is shielded from the UV radiation because $H_2O$ and CO are the dominant coolants rather than OH and [OI]. In addition, our observed fluxes match better with C-shock models rather than J-shocks. The non-LTE LVG model supports that the IR pumping process is important for OH transitions because the OH line ratios are fitted much better when the dust thermal continuum is included.
