A typical louvered-fin oil cooler can be easily contaminated under dusty environment hence resulting in poor performance of a heat exchanger. Thus, in this study, a dust-proof oil cooler has been studied with a unique shape of a 3-dimensional wavy fin since non-louvered fins could have better performance under dusty environment compared to louvered fins. Recently, they have been introduced to commercial and constructional vehicles in Japan. At first numerical analysis has been done to optimize the angle of the wavy fin so that the oil cooler developed can satisfy the target performance. The wavy fin has been then made with roll-forming and roll-pitch stands, and a prototype of an oil cooler with the wavy fin has been finally built with brazing. The performance test showed that the heat release rate of the oil cooler was well beyond the target, 4.94kW and the air-side pressure drop was below the criterion, 0.19kPa. In addition, the results showed that the numerical prediction was effective enough to design the dust-proof oil cooler that satisfies the performance criteria.

It was carried out a review of operating limit analysis for small high-speed boat by author. In general, a review of ship's seakeeping performance is performed in the step of ship design, but this study was carried out in the state of completion of boat. Motion performance of Pitch, Vertical and Lateral acceleration and Slamming were satisfied in some encounter angle but deck wetness was not satisfied in all it does the analysis. As a result, sea state rather than the speed and encounter angle of vessel have a greater effect on the seakeeping performance of target vessel. It seems to be due to the size of the target ship.
The theme of the current study is to study intonation of Taiwanese(Tw.) by comparing the intonation patterns in native language (Ll), target language (L2), and interlanguage (IL). Studies on interlanguage have dealt primarily with segments. Though there were studies which addressed to the issues of interlanguage intonation, more often than not, they didn't offer evidence for the statement, and the hypotheses were mainly based on impression. Therefore, a formal description of interlanguage intonation is necessary for further development in this field. The basic assumption of this study is that native speakers of one language perceive and produce a second language in ways closely related to the patterns of their first language. Several studies on interlanguage prosody have suggested that prosodic structure and rules are more subject to transfer than certain other phonological phenomena, given their abstract structural nature and generality(Vogel 1991). Broselow(1988) also shows that interlanguage may provide evidence for particular analyses of the native language grammar, which may not be available from the study of the native language alone. Several research questions will be addressed in the current study: A. How does duration vary among native and nominative utterances\ulcorner The results shows that there is a significant difference in duration between the beginning English learners, and the native speakers of American English for all the eleven English sentences. The mean duration shows that the beginning English learners take almost twice as much time (1.70sec.), as Americans (O.97sec.) to produce English sentences. The results also show that American speakers take significant longer time to speak all ten Taiwanese utterances. The mean duration shows that Americans take almost twice as much time (2.24sec.) as adult Taiwanese (1.14sec.) to produce Taiwanese sentences. B. Does proficiency level influence the performance of interlanguage intonation\ulcorner Can native intonation patterns be achieved by a non-native speaker\ulcorner Wenk(1986) considers proficiency level might be a variable which related to the extent of Ll influence. His study showed that beginners do transfer rhythmic features of the Ll and advanced learners can and do succeed in overcoming mother-tongue influence. The current study shows that proficiency level does play a role in the acquisition of English intonation by Taiwanese speakers. The duration and pitch range of the advanced learners are much closer to those of the native American English speakers than the beginners, but even advanced learners still cannot achieve native-like intonation patterns. C. Do Taiwanese have a narrower pitch range in comparison with American English speakers\ulcorner Ross et. al.(1986) suggests that the presence of tone in a language significantly inhibits the unrestricted manipulation of three acoustical measures of prosody which are involved in producing local pitch changes in the fundamental frequency contour during affective signaling. Will the presence of tone in a language inhibit the ability of speakers to modulate intonation\ulcorner The results do show that Taiwanese have a narrower pitch range in comparison with American English speakers. Both advanced (84Hz) and beginning learners (58Hz) of English show a significant narrower FO range than that of Americans' (112Hz), and the difference is greater between the beginning learners' group and native American English speakers.

In the present study, aerodynamic load analysis for a floating off-shore wind turbine was conducted to examine the effect of periodic platform motion in the direction of 6-DOF on rotor aerodynamic performance. Blade-element momentum method(BEM) was used for a numerical simulation, the unsteady airload effects due to the flow separation and the shed wake were considered by adopting a dynamic stall model based on the indicial response method. Rotor induced downwash was estimated using the momentum theory, coupled with empirical corrections for the turbulent wake states. The periodic platform motions including the translational motion in the heave, sway and surge directions and the rotational motion in the roll, pitch and yaw directions were considered, and each platform motion was applied as a sinusoidal function. For the numerical simulation, NREL 5MW reference wind turbine was used as the target wind turbine. The results showed that among the translation modes, the surge motion has the largest influence on changing the rotor airloads, while the effect of pitch motion is predominant for the rotations.

Recently, as interest in air quality in vehicles increases, the use of fine dust detection sensors for air quality measurement is becoming common. An axial-flow fan is inserted in the fine dust sensor installed in the air conditioning system in the vehicle to prevent dust from sinking directly on the sensor. When the sensor operates, the flow noise caused by the rotation of the axial-flow fan acts as a major noise source of the fine dust sensor. flow noise is recognized as one of the product competitiveness of fine dust sensors. In this study, the noise was gradually reduced at the same flow rate by improving the flow performance of the small axial flow fan. First, a virtual fan performance tester consisting of about 20 million grids was developed to analyze the aerodynamic performance of the target small axial-flow fan. In addition, the flow field was simulated by using compressible Large Eddy Simulation for direct computation of flow noise as well as high-accurate prediction of flow rate. The validity of numerical method are confirmed through the comparison of predicted results with experimental ones. After the effects of pitch angle on flow performance were analyzed using the verified numerical method, the pitch angle was determined to maximize the flow rate. It was found that the flow rate was increased by 8.1 % and noise was reduced by 0.8 dBA when the axial-flow fan with the optimum pitch angle was used.
In broadcasts such as news and coverage programs, voice is modulated to protect the identity of the informant. Adjusting the pitch is commonly used voice modulation method, which allows easy voice restoration to the original voice by adjusting the pitch. Therefore, since broadcast voice modulation methods cannot properly protect the identity of the speaker and are vulnerable to security, a new voice modulation method is needed to replace them. In this paper, using the Lightweight speech de-identification model as the evaluation target model, we compare speech de-identification performance with broadcast voice modulation method using pitch modulation. Among the six modulation methods in the Lightweight speech de-identification model, we experimented on the de-identification performance of Korean speech as a human test and EER(Equal Error Rate) test compared with broadcast voice modulation using three modulation methods: McAdams, Resampling, and Vocal Tract Length Normalization(VTLN). Experimental results show VTLN modulation methods performed higher de-identification performance in both human tests and EER tests. As a result, the modulation methods of the Lightweight model for Korean speech has sufficient de-identification performance and will be able to replace the security-weak broadcast voice modulation.

Purpose: To evaluate the usefulness of the $HexaPOD^{TM}$ evo RT system(6DoF couch) and the tendency of dose difference according to size of rotational direction error for volumetric rotational modulated radiotherapy(V-MAT) in patients with long target lengths. Therefore, it is suggested to recommend the need for rotational error correction. Materials and Methods: Ten patients with Esophagus cancer or Breast cancer including SCL treated with HexaPOD 6DoF(Six-Degree of Freedom) couch were included in this study. 6DoF couch was used to measure the difference in dose according to the rotation error in the directions of Rx(pitch), Ry(roll), and Rz(yaw). Each rotation error was applied. Positioning variation on x, y and z axis was verified and random variations were made by 6DoF couch with positioning variation. Modified DQA is conducted and point dose and gamma value are analyzed and compared. In addition, after applying the rotation error every $1^{\circ}$ to treatment plans of each target with a diameter of 3 cm, 5, 10, 15, and 20 cm respectively, gamma passing rate is being monitored by its aspect of change according to types and sizes of the target length and rotation error. Results: Mean error of the point dose and Gamma passing rate when the position variation was applied were $2.50{\pm}1.11%$ and $84.1{\pm}7.39%$ in the Rx direction, $2.36{\pm}1.16%$, and $81.0{\pm}8.49%$ in the Ry, $2.35{\pm}1.10%$ and $84.4{\pm}6.99%$ in the Rz direction, respectively. As a result of analysis on gamma passing rate according to types and sizes of the target length and rotation error, the gamma passing rate tended to decrease with increasing rotation error in the Rx and Rz directions except Ry direction. In particular, the lowest gamma passing rate (74.2 %) was in the case of $2.5^{\circ}$ rotation error in Rz direction of the target of 10 cm. Conclusion: The correction of the rotational error is needed for volumetric modulated radiotherapy of the treatment area with a long target length, and the use of 6DoF couch will improve the reproducibility of the patient position and the quality of the treatment.

Conventional music players offer simple replay and one way entertainment. The paper presents an algorithm to extract, within a digitally recorded music file, the temporal information of a sequence of target notes (i.e. melody). We assume to have the score (e.g. MIDI or printed score), and using this information, it becomes possible to first sequentially predict the probable location of the target notes. However, recorded music is hardly performed according to the score, especially temporally. Thus, additional analysis is carried out to hone in on the exact location of the target note from the initially predicted location. This prediction and correction process is repeated to find one note after another. This allows us to develop an interactive music player that is enacted by rhythmic interaction, and induce a new user experience, i.e. as if one is playing the music oneself.
The optical storage device has recently experienced significant improvement, especially for the aspects of high capacity and fast transfer rate. However, it is necessary to study a new shape of air bearing surface for the rotary type actuator because the optical storage device has the lower access time than that of HDD (Hard Disk Drives). In this study, we proposed the air bearing shape by using SA (Simulated Annealing) algorithm which is very effective to achieve the global optimum instead of many local optimums. The objective of optimization is to minimize the deviation in flying height from a target value 100nm. In addition, the pitch and roll angle should be maintained within the operation limits.
Most surgery illumination systems have been developed as passive systems. However, sometimes it is inconvenient to relocate the position of the illumination system whenever the surgeon changes his pose. To cope with such a problem, this study develops an auto-illumination system that is autonomously tracking the surgeon's movement. A 5-DOF serial type manipulator system that can control (X, Y, Z, Yaw, Pitch) position and secure enough workspace is developed. Using 3 ultrasonic sensors, the surgeon's position and orientation could be located. The measured data aresent to the main control system so that the robot can be auto-tracking the target. Finally, performance of the developed auto-illuminating system was verified through a preliminary experiment in the operating room environment.
