리니어 컴프레서의 위상제어를 통한 동특성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study of Dynamic Performance Improvement of Linear Compressors Using Phase Control Loop)

  • 본 논문에서는 리니어 컴프레서의 스트로크 동특성 향상을 위해 위상 제어 시스템을 구현하였다. 리니어 컴프레서가 적용된 냉장고나 에어컨의 냉각능력을 제어하기 위해서는 단위시간동안 피스톤의 움직인 거리, 즉 피스톤의 속도를 제어해야 하는데 이때 리니어 모터의 주파수나 스트로크를 조정함으로써 가능하다. 이때, 주파수를 고정하고 스트로크를 변화시키는 것이 일반적이다. 스트로크, 즉 피스톤의 행정거리를 정확하게 추정하는 것이 리니어 컴프레서의 동특성을 좌우하는데, 본 연구에서는 위상제어 시스템을 스트로크 제어 루우프에 추가로 삽입함으로써 스트로크 동특성이 향상됨을 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • 근래에 선형전동기로 냉장고 등 냉동기기의 압축기 피스톤을 제어하는 선형압축기가 높은 효율 때문에 많이 주목받고 있다. 선형압축기의 피스톤 스트로크는 LPMSM의 입력 전압 및 전류값을 적분하여 구하며, 이 입력 신호에 직류성분이 포함될 경우 스트로크가 발산된다. 본 연구에서는 고역필터 및 직류 옵셋 보상 방식을 사용하여 입력 전압 및 전류의 직류성분에 의한 스트로크의 발산을 방지하는 기법을 제시하였다. 고역필터의 차단주파수에 대한 스트로크의 크기 및 위상과 스트로크에 포함된 직류옵셋 값의 관계를 유도하고, 직류 옵셋 값을 보상하여 정확한 스트로크를 계산한다. 새로 개발된 스트로크 계산방법의 성능은 16비트 DSP 구현된 선형압축기 시스템의 실험을 통하여 확인하였다.

압축기-연소실 일체형인 리니어엔진의 스프링 강성에 따른 연소 및 동적 특성 연구 (The Experimental Research for the Combustion and Dynamic Characteristics of the Linear Engine on the Variable Spring Stiffness)

  • This study was experimentally investigated on the effects of spring stiffness applied to linear compressor chambers. The springs prevented piston head from colliding with engine cover, stored the kinetic energy and regenerated the kinetic energy. The linear engine has two combustion chambers and four compressor chamber. The combustion chamber bore size was 30 mm, maximum stroke was 31 mm and effective stroke volume was 25.45 cc respectively. The spring stiffness was varied such as 0, 0.5, 1.00, 2.9 and 14.7 N/mm. The linear engine was fueled with premixed LPG (propane 99%) and air by pre-mixture device. As an experimental result, The stroke, piston velocity and the piston frequency were increased by high spring stiffness. Also, thermal efficiency was grown. because the increased stroke made the higher compression ratio. In conclusion, electric power and efficiency were improved.

루프소기방식을 갖는 2행정 프리피스톤 수소기관의 역화에 관한 연구 (Study on Backfire for a Two-Stroke Hydrogen Fueled Free-Piston Engine with Loop Scavenging)

  • For developing a two-stroke free-piston hydrogen engine with high efficiency and low emission, determination of the scavenging type is one of the most important factor. In this research, backfire characteristics for loop scavenging were analyzed with the number of piston crevice volume and piston expansion speed. Rapid Compression Expansion Machine, RCEM was used for combustion research of the free piston $H_2$ engine in the experiment. As the results, it was shown that although backfire occurring in a loop scavenging type can be partially controled by a complete exhaust of burned gas, possibility of backfire basically exist due to the structure which piston crevice volumes contact with fresh mixture in a scavenging port. However, a loop scavenging may be considered as combustion chamber of a free piston $H_2$ engine from the point of view that backfire does not occur nearby lean equivalence ratio obtained high thermal efficiency. It was also analyzed that an advances of backfire occurrence timing with increase of the fuel-air equivalence ratio were due to promotion of flame propagation into piston crevice volumes by decrease of the quenching distance.

  • The performance of a direct-injection diesel engine often depends on the strength of swirl or squish, the shape of combustion chamber, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is natural because the combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. Since the available duration to make the mixture formation of air-fuel is very short, it is difficult to make complete mixture. Therefore, an early stage of combustion is violent, which leads to the weakness of noise and vibration. In this paper, the combustion process of a common-rail diesel engine was studied by employing two kinds of pistons. One has several grooves with inclined plane on the piston crown to generate swirl during the compression and expansion strokes in the cylinder in order to improve the atomization of fuel. The other is a toroidal piston, generally used in high speed diesel engines. To take photographs of flame and flaming duration, a four-stroke diesel engine was remodeled into a two-stroke visible single cylinder engine and a high speed video camera was used.

  • LG Electronics developed linear compressors for a household refrigerator which can reduce energy consumption up to $24\%$ by only Drop-ln instead of a conventional reciprocating compressor. The linear compressor is composed of a linear oscillating motor, a piston directly coupled with the linear motor, a cylinder and the specific discharge system of LG. Because of this free-piston structure, the position of the piston can be changeable according to the voltage variation, load variation and so on. By this reason, LG linear compressor has been in need of an additional unit to control the position of the free-piston stably. In this paper we will introduce the innovative technology which is able to operate the linear compressor without controlling the piston position like a conventional reciprocating compressor.

연소실 저압변화와 압력-점도지수가 디젤엔진 고압피스톤의 핀-보스 베어링 윤활에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on Effects of the Changes in Lower Combustion Pressures and Pressure-Viscosity Index on Pin-Boss Bearing Lubrication of a Diesel Engine Piston Receiving High Combustion Pressure)

  • In recently designed diesel engines, the running conditions for piston pin bearings have become very severe due to combustion pressure and temperature increase. In this paper, it will be investigated the tendency of piston pin rotating motion by calculating the friction coefficient at piston pin bearings, the oil film thickness and the frictional torques induced by hydrodynamic shear stress. Finally, the pressure distributions on the oil film of piston pin bearings will be found by two-dimensional lubrication analysis in order to help the optimum design of the bearings of piston pin. Specially, it is investigated how the changes in combustion pressure at exhaust and intake stroke and the pressure-viscosity index effect on the film pressure distribution.

  • A dosed-loop sensorless stroke control system for a linear compressor has been designed. The motor parameters are identified as a function of the piston position and the motor current. They are stored in ROM table and used later for the accurate estimation of piston position. Also it was attempted to approximate the identified motor parameters to the 2nd-order surface functions. The 2nd-order surface functions are divided into 2 or 4 sub-sections for more precise identification of motor parameters. Some experimental results are given in order to show the feasibility of the proposed control schemes for linear compressors.

  • 리니어 컴프레서를 위한 폐루우프 센서리스 스트로크 제어시스템이 구성되었다. 피스톤 위치를 정확히 알아내기 위해 모터 매개변수를 피스톤 위치와 모터 전류의 함수로 추정하였다. 이 매개변수 데이터는 ROM 테이블에 저장한 뒤 차 후 피스톤 위치를 정확히 알아내는데 사용된다. 또한, 추정된 모터 매개변수의 데이터 크기를 줄이기 위해 2차원 곡면 함수로 근사화 하는 작업을 수행하였다. 실험을 통해 본 제어 방식이 리니어 컴프레서에 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Recently, the linear compressors with the free piston driven by the linear motor have widely attention in the cooling apparatus such as a refrigerator due to high efficiency. The method of using triacs as a linear motor drive is not satisfactory to improve the efficiency of the linear compressor. In this paper, the performance of the linear compressor using a PWM inverter such as the efficiency is investigated with the variations of both mechanical resonant frequency and electrical resonant frequency. The control loop for controlling both the piston stroke and efficiency is suggested. Through simulation and experimental studies, the performance of both the stroke and angle controls for improving the efficiency of the linear compressor is verified.
