  • Drainage noise with making think about what they do disturbs neighborhoods live under source of noise. elbow pipe built in the house. the general elbow pipe has a rectangular elbow because of easiness when the plan set up or executing. therefore, free falling fluid impacts on the wall of the elbow pipe almost at one point. in this paper, to disperse the potential energy, the shock decentralizes from tiny area to large area. And It is considered how the characteristics change according to the noise of transformed shape of pipe, then researched the effectiveness of transformed pipe configuration.

  • Ratcheting deformation of pressurized Z2CND18.12N stainless steel $90^{\circ}$ elbow pipe with local wall thinning subjected to constant internal pressure and reversed bending was studied using finite element analysis. Chen-Jiao-Kim (CJK) kinematic hardening model, which was used to simulate ratcheting behavior of pressurized $90^{\circ}$ elbow pipe with local wall thinning at extrados, flanks and intrados, was implemented into finite element software ANSYS. The local wall thinning was located at extrados, flanks and intrados of $90^{\circ}$ elbow pipe, whose geometry was rectangular cross-section. The effect of depth, axial length and circumferential angle of local wall thinning at extrados, flanks and intrados on the ratcheting behaviors of $90^{\circ}$ elbow pipe were studied in this paper. Three-dimensional elastic-plastic analysis with Chen-Jiao-Kim (CJK) kinematic hardening model was carried out to evaluate structural ratcheting behaviors. The results indicated that ratcheting strain was generated mainly along the hoop direction, while axial ratcheting strain was relatively small.

  • Vibration analysis of pipe with Elbow subject to internal pressure and temperature is studied through a commercial finite element analysis tool. The natural frequency of Elbow increased very slightly as internal pressure increases. Meanwhile, the frequency of Elbow decreased as temperature increases. It is shown that frequency deviation caused by temperature was greater than that caused by pressure. As the length of Elbows increases, frequency deviation by temperature stew rapidly, but frequency deviation by pressure was not so high. It is concluded that more concern needs to be focused on temperature rather than on pressure in terms of natural frequency.

  • When piping system in a nuclear power plant is subjected to a beyond design seismic condition, it is important to accurately determine possibility of crack initiation and, if initiation occurs, its location and time. From recent experimental works on elbow pipes, it was found that the crack initiation location and crack propagation direction of the SA403 WP316 stainless steel elbow pipe were affected by the pipe thickness. In this paper, the crack initiation location and crack propagation direction for SA403 WP316 stainless steel elbow pipes with different thickness were analyzed via elastic-plastic finite element analysis. Based on FE results, the effect of the pipe thickness on different crack initiation location and crack propagation direction was analyzed using ovality, stress and strain components. It was also confirmed that the presence of internal pressure had no effect on the crack initiation location and crack propagation direction.

  • In this paper a practical limit load estimating procedure is proposed for general pipe-elbow structures subjected to complex loading (in-plane and out-of-plane bending, internal pressure and axial force). The explicit calculating formulae are presented on the basis of theoretical analysis combined with numerical simulation. Von Mises' yield criterion is adopted in both analytical and numerical calculation. The finite element examination shows that the method provides a simple but satisfactory prediction of pipe structures in engineering plastic analysis.

  • We developed numerical models to efficiently simulate the low-cycle fatigue behavior of a pipe elbow. To verify the model, in-plane cyclic bending tests of pipe elbow specimens were conducted, and a through crack occurred in the vicinity of the crown. Numerical models based on the erosion method and tie-break method are developed, and the numerical results are compared with experimental results. The calculated results of both models are in good agreement with experimental results, and the model using the tie-break method possesses two times faster calculation speed. Therefore, the numerical model based on the tie-break method would be beneficial to evaluate the strength of piping systems under seismic loadings.

  • An electromagnetic flowmeter(EMF) essentially averages the velocity distribution over the pipe cross- sectional area, and the measured value is dependent on the velocity profiles. In this study, installation effects of 90$^{\circ}$long elbow(KS B 1522, ISO 3419) on the EMF characteristics was investigated. A commercial EMF was adopted and the distribution of magnetic field in the electrodes cross section was measured. In the experiment, the national flow standard system, of which measurement uncertainty was evaluated in accordance with ISO 17025 recommendation, was used fur characterization of EMF. The leading line has 150D long straight pipe to established a fully developed flow before entering into the elbow and the elbow was installed downstream of it. then the flowmeter was tested within 50 D from the elbow. The installation effects of the flowmeter were investigated by varying the mean velocity(Reynolds No.)in pipe section, the locations and the direction of electrodes plane.($\phi$) From the experimental results, we find the optimal conditions to get most accurate measurements. Generally, the deviations from the calibration value were less than 0.5 % in farther than 10D distance from the elbow and the direction of electrode plane. $\phi$ = 90$^{\circ}$yielded the smallest measurement deviation. These characteristics were shown consistently in turbulent region regardless of the mean Reynolds number.

  • Ratcheting behavior of $90^{\circ}$ elbow piping subject to internal pressure 20 MPa and reversed bending 20 kN was investigated using experimental method. The maximum ratcheting strain was found in the circumferential direction of intrados. Ratcheting strain at flanks was also very large. Moreover, the effect of temperature on ratcheting strain of $90^{\circ}$ elbow piping was studied through finite element analysis, and the results were compared with room condition ($25^{\circ}$). The results revealed that ratcheting strain of $90^{\circ}$ elbow piping increased with increasing temperature. Ratcheting boundary of $90^{\circ}$ elbow piping was determined by Chaboche model combined with C-TDF method. The results revealed that there was no relationship between the dimensionless form of ratcheting boundary and temperature.

  • The erosion of solid particles in a pipe elbow was numerically investigated. A numerical procedure to estimate the sand erosion rate, as well as the particle motion, in the pipe elbow flow was introduced. This procedure was performed based on the combined empirical erosion model and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to consider the interaction between the particle motion and the eroded surface. The underlying turbulent flow on an Eulerian frame is described by the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with a $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model. The one-way coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian motion of the air flow and sand particles is employed to simulate the particle trajectories and particle-wall interactions on the pipe surfaces. The predicted CFD erosion magnitudes are compared with experimental data from pipe elbows. The erosion rate results do not reveal a good accordance between the simulation and experimental results. It seems that the CFD shows a slightly over-predicted erosion ratio.

  • The piping systems in nuclear power plant are composed of various typed pipes such as straight, elbow pipe, branch and reducer etc. The elbow is connected from straight pipe to another pipes in order to establish the complicated piping system. Elbow is one of very important components considering management of wall thinning degradation. It is however applied by various loads such as system pressure, earthquake, postulated break loading and many transient loads, which provoke simply the internal pressure, bending and torsional stress. In this study, firstly pipes in the secondary system of the nuclear power plant are classified as pipe size and type for selecting the investigating range. Next, a large number of finite element analysis considering the all typed dimensions of commercial pipe has been performed to find out the behavior of TES(twice elastic slop) plastic load of elbows, which is based on evaluation of the structural safety factor. Finally performance based structural safety factor was investigated comparing with maximum allowable load by construction code.
