압전재료와 점탄성 재료를 이용한 평판 진동 음장의 능동제어 (Active Control of Sound Fields from Vibrating Plates Using Piezoelectric and Viscoelastic Material)

  • The coupled finite/boundary element method is used in numerical analysis for acoustic radiation from the vibration of rectangular composite plate which is simply supported. This analysis is validated using the Wallace equation for an isotropic plate. Active control of sound fields has been tarried out using 3 pairs of piezoelectric sensor/actuator and a pair of viscoelastic material by Passive constrained layer damping treatment. The results show that the optimal placement of piezoelectric sensor/actuator and VE patch is required to control the sound fields from a vibrating composite plate.

Taper형 초음파 진동자의 대역폭 개선에 관한 연구 (A Astudy on Bandwidth Enhancement of a Ultrasonic Transducer with a Taper)

  • A ultrasonic transduce with a single acoustic matching layer has been designed as an attempt to increase the bandwidth of underwater transducer. The wideband resonance condition was accomplished by attaching a single matching layer on the front face of a ceramic resonator composed of a piezoelectric bar, a taper part and a head part. A modified Mason's model was used for the performance analysis and the design of transducers, and the constructed transducers were tested experimentally and numerically by changing the impedance and thickness of the matching layer in the water tank.The obtained results are summarized as follows:1. Measured resonant and antiresonant frequencies of the piezoelectric transducer with no matching layer in air were 24.7 kHz and 25.6 kHz, respectively. 2. Two resonant frequencies of the piezoelectric transducer with a single matching layer were 21.7 kHx and 26.9 kHz, respectively, in air and 21.4 kHz and 22.7 kHz, respectively, with a water load.3. Two distinct resonance peaks in the transmitting voltage response(TVR) of the developed transducer were observed at 22.0 kHz and 25.8 kHz, respectively, with center frequency of 24.0 kHz. The values of TVR at these frequencies were 130.1 dB re $1 \muPa$/V at 22.0 kHz and 128.5 dB re $1 \muPa$/V at 25.8 kHz, respectively.Reasonable agreement between the experimental results and the numerical values was achieved.

  • In this study, the 2-step methode by ALD equipment was used to improve the characteristics of ZnO thin films used in a piezoelectric layer when the FBAR devices of a SMR type are fabricated. The Height of formed buffer layer was $400{\AA}$ and ZnO thin film of $13600{\AA}$ was deposited by RF sputter on the buffer layer. When ZnO thin films are deposited, deposition conditions such as pressure, injection time of source and purge time were changed variously. The characteristics of piezoelectric layer such as a crystal orientation and micro-structure of deposited ZnO thin films were studied by SEM, AFM and XRD.

압축 응력 변화에 대한 압전 단결정의 물성 변화를 고려한 압전 복합재료 작동기의 작동 변위 예측 (Deflection Prediction of Piezo-composite Unimorph Actuator Considering Material Property Change of Piezoelectric Single Crystal for Compression Stress Variation)

  • 본 논문에서는 지능 구조물 작동기의 성능 향상을 위해 압전 단결정을 적용한 압전 복합재료 작동기 LIPCA-S2를 설계, 제작하고 성능을 측정하였다. 외팔보 형태로 고정된 LIPCA-S2의 끝단 변위를 예측하기 위하여 공급 전압에 대한 압전 재료 작동층의 변형을 기반으로 곡률 변화 예측 모델을 적용하였으며, 실제 작동기의 성능을 측정하여 두 결과를 비교하였다. 외팔보 상태의 LIPCA-S2의 끝단 처짐에 대한 결과를 비교하였을 때, 예측 결과가 측정 결과에 비하여 4배 정도 크게 예측되었음을 확인하였다. 각 결과의 차이는 LIPCA-S2 내부에 삽입된 압전 단결정에 작용하는 압축 응력에 대하여 압전 단결정 특성이 영향을 미치는 것이라 가정하여, LIPCA-S2를 제작하는 과정에서 발생된 잔류 응력과, 작동층에 전압을 가하며 작동기를 구동했을 때 발생하는 응력 변화를 고전 적층 이론을 통해 계산하였다. 박판 압전 단결정에 평면 방향으로 압축 응력이 변할 때, 압전 변형상수의 변화와 탄성계수의 변화를 측정하였고, 이러한 특성 변화를 고려한 새로운 예측 모델을 활용한 예측 결과는 실제 측정값에 근접함을 알 수 있었다.

굽힘 압전 복합재료 작동기의 전기적 피로 거동 (Electric Fatigue Behavior of a Bending Piezoelectric Composite Actuator)

  • In the present work, we address electric fatigue behavior in bending piezoelectric actuators using an acoustic emission technique. Electric cyclic fatigue tests have been performed up to ten million cycles on the fabricated specimens. To confirm the fatigue damage onset and its pathway, the source location and distributions of the AE behavior in terms of count rate are analyzed over the fatigue range. It is concluded that electric cyclic loading leads to fatigue damages such as transgranular damages and intergranular cracking in the surface of the PZT ceramic layer, and intergranular cracking even develops into the PZT inner layer, thereby degrading the displacement performance. The electric-induced fatigue behavior seems to show not a continuous process but a step-by-step process because of the brittleness of PZT ceramic. Nevertheless, this fatigue damage and cracking do not cause the final failure of the bending piezoelectric actuator loaded up to 107 cycles. Investigations of the AE behavior and the linear AE source location reveal that the onset time of the fatigue damage varies considerably depending on the existence of a glass-epoxy protecting layer.

Static analysis of a multilayer piezoelectric actuator with bonding layers and electrodes

  • Based on the theory of piezoelasticity, an analytical solution for a typical multilayer piezoelectric composite cantilever is obtained by the Airy function method. The piezoelectric cantilever may consist of any number of layers. Moreover, the material and thickness for different layers may be different. The solution obtained in the present paper is concise and can be easily applied for the bending analysis of multilayer piezoelectric actuators considering the effect of bonding layers and electrodes. At last, a comprehensive parametric study is conducted to show the influence of electromechanical coupling (EMC), the number of piezoelectric layers, the elastic modulus of elastic layer and the thickness ratio on the bending behavior of actuators. Some interesting results for the design of multilayer piezoelectric actuators are presented.

  • Under the external shearing stress, the external radial stress and the electric potential simultaneously, the piezoelectric hollow cylinder transducer is studied. With the Airy stress function method, the analytical solutions of this transducer are obtained based on the theory of piezo-elasticity. The solutions are compared with the finite element results of Ansys and a good agreement is found. Inherent properties of this piezoelectric cylinder transducer are presented and discussed. It is very helpful for the design of the bearing controllers.

  • In (Pb, La)(Zr, Ti)O3 ceramic system, the functionally gradient material (FGM) was developed, and its processing and properties were investigated. The FGMs were successfully prepared through doctor blade method with acrylic binder system as well as mold stacking press method. The ultrasonic treatment was very effective for particle dispersion in slurry, and it lead to form clack-free green films. The strain-voltage characteristics of the FGM system was significantly improved which fabricated between a high piezoelectric-low dielectric and a low piezoelectric-high dielectric composition layer.

  • A ferroelectric (called piezoelectric afterwards) wafer has been widely used as a key component of actuators or sensors of a layer type. According to recent researches, the piezoelectric wafer behaves in a nonlinear way under excessive electro-mechanical loadings. In the present paper, one-dimensional constitutive equations for the nonlinear behavior of a piezoelectric wafer are proposed based on the principles of thermodynamics and a simple viscoplasticity theory. The predictions of the developed model are compared with experimental observations.

이층구조의 전반로를 갖는 단성표면파의 온도특성 (Temperature Characteristics of Elastic Layer Mode Propagating on Piezoelectric Crystal)

  • 압전 결정 LiNbO3에서 탄성표면파(Rayleigh 표면파)의 온도계수가 가장 작은 131° 로테이트 Y캇트의 전반로에 Ag와 Pd를 증착하여 증착막의 두께에 따른 위상속도의 변화와 위상속도의 온도계수의 변화를 수치해석방법에 의하여 계산하였다. 계산한 결과 Ag의 경우는 증착막의 두께가 증가함에 따라 온도계수가 급격히 증가하나 Pd의 경우는 증가와 감소의 불규칙성을 보이며 wh=9000에서 -36×10 /℃의 위상속도의 온도계수의 최소치를 얻었다.
