  • An ultrasonic linear motor was composed of a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic vibrator which generates elliptical oscillations. L1-B4 ultrasonic linear motor use longitudinal and bending multi-vibration. In order to design stators which has high efficiency and driving characteristics, The finite element method was used to optimize dimension of ultrasonic vibrator and direction of vibratory displacement. stator vibrator of respectively width 3, 5, 7[mm] was fabricated and experimented. as results When width was 5[mm], the driving characteristics was good.

  • In this paper, we calculated equivalent circuit of Langevin type ultrasonic vibrator and designed a vibrator whose resonant frequency is 50(KHz). FEA (Finite Element Analysis) was employed to calculate the resonant frequencies and maximum displacements of designed vibrators. The computer calculated resonant frequencies were approached to the designed one. As AC voltage input the maximum displacements were shown sinusoidal changes. Terminal input admittance over a frequency range spanning the resonant frequency were calculated. ANSYS was employed to calculate resonant frequencies, displacements and terminal input admittance of vibrators

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for ultrasonic vibrator application, PNW-PMN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured according to the amount of CaCO$_3$ addition, and their piezoelectric, dielectric and microstructural characteristics were investigated. The ceramic specimens could be sintered at sintering temperature below 1000 $^{\circ}C$ due to the effect of Li$_2$CO$_3$-CaCO$_3$ liquid phase produced by the reaction of Li$_2$CO$_3$ and CaCO$_3$. At 0.2 wt% Li$_2$CO$_3$ and 0.25 wt% CaCO$_3$ added specimen sintered at 920 $^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor(k$_{p}$), mechanical quality factor(Q$_{m}$) and dielectric constant showed the optimal value of 7.78 g/㎤, 0.49, 1396, and 1300, respectively, for ultrasonic vibrator application.ion.

  • Piezoelectric ceramics can provide electro-mechanical transduction with high stresses but low displacement. To obtain larger displacements, several mechanical amplifying structures have been used. High alternating displacements can be obtained using resonant structure. In this paper, we designed a bolt-tightened Langevin type ultrasonic vibrator whose resonant frequency is 50[kHz] and ceramics are multilayered. FEM(Finite Element Methode) was employed to calculate. the resonant frequencies and maximum displacements of designed vibrators. The designed resonant frequency and computer calculated frequencies were coincided. When input voltages were increased, the maximum displacements also rose. As AC voltage was applied, the maximum displacement were shown sinusoidal changes. Terminal input admittance over a frequency range spanning the resonant frequency were calculated. ANSYS was used to find resonant frequencies and calculate displacements of vibrators.

  • An ultrasonic linear motor was composed of a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic oscillator which generates elliptical oscillations. Elliptical oscillations are generated by synthesizing two degenerated modes. The design of a stator for an Ultrasonic linear motor was optimized with respect to vibration mode and direction of vibratory displacement by employing the finite element method. The motors were designed by varying the width of stator vibrator and the thickness, the length and the position of piezoceramics.

  • Recently, because the lubricating oil showed a tendency to be emulsified and oxidized by high speed, high output and the extension of maintenance & conservation of marine engine, the cavitation erosion-corrosion at such an environment became a big problem on effective performance of engine. Therefore, there was a need to study the behavior and protection of erosion-corrosion damage, and then applied inhibitor to a protective method of cavitation erosion- corrosion damage. At this time, test environments were marine lubricating oil & various emulsified oil that mixed distilled water and sea water etc., and also used 20KHz, 24.mu.m piezoelectric vibrator as an experimental apparatus of cavitation erosion. With this apparatus, we investigated an influence of the emulsified oil on characteristics of erosion-corrosion and protection for erosion-corrosion by inhibitor at slide bearing metals.

  • For the piezoelectric vibrator, PZT, in a general transmit-receive sensor using the ultrasonic flowmeter, the characteristics of frequency response relating to the backing materials were analyzed with the Mason equivalent circuit for design and the sensitivity of fabricated transducer relating to the matching materials was measured and discussed. The results those were measured in water for the transmit-receive characteristics of each transducer can be applied to the flowmeter sensor.

  • A stator of ultrasonic motor of high torque with a new configuration is proposed. The stator designed newly is two sided vibrator consisting of toothed metal disk with piezoelectric ceramic ring bonded on both face of disk. which generates a flexural traveling wave along the circumference of disk. it produces a large vibrating force and amplitude because the vibrator is sandwiched by two piezoelectric ring. The finite element method was used to compute the vibration mode of the stator with a outer diameter of 48mm. A 6th vibration mode was chosen as operation mode with resonance frequency about 72kHz. According to the design, the prototype stator was fabricated and its performance was measured.

  • On this paper, unimorph type piezoelectric vibrator made by attaching ceramic plates on rectangular elastic body, to find the basic characteristic of the actuators. In experiment, elastic body's displacement and resonance frequency were measured according to changes of ceramic's length and elastic body's length. Also, temperature changes were observed according to time. The displacement and resonance frequency were increased when the ceramic's length were increased. When elastic body's length was increased, the displacement was increased. Also, the temperature was increased according to time, but at some time it was saturated and the temperature was not increased any more.
