유니몰프 압전소자를 이용한 발전 판넬의 출력특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Output Characteristics for the Generation Panel using Unimorph Piezoelectric Element)

  • The ability for energy harvesting via the piezoelectric effect was studied for a unimorph element such as piezo buzzer. A simple equivalent circuit was proposed to predict the energy generated based on the internal stress. Unimorphs with a metal-cavity were used as a driving device of the generation panel. Both the AC open voltage and DC output voltage as a function of pressure period and number of element were measured. For the unimorph generation circuit, DC output voltage varies with pressure period, reaching a maximum value at $470{\mu}F$. The maximum output voltage a according to load resistance was measured at $1M{\Omega}$. Data analysis of the DC output voltage and time constant indicated that number of piezoelectric element of optimum was 60~80. It was found that piezoelectric unimorph has the possibility to be used as the driving element of the electric generation.

  • 압전 변압기와 CCFL, 형광등의 전기적 등가회로에 의한 PSPICE 모델을 제시하였고, 차세대 35W급 초절전형 삼파장 T5 형광램프용 고효율 형광등 안정기를 개발하였다. 이 안정기는 역률개선회로와 인버터에 압전 변압기를 채용하여 T5 형광램프의 점등실험을 하였으며, 압전 변압기의 효율적인 구동과 정확한 주파수 공급을 위하여 PLL방식을 사용하였다.

  • In this paper, a underwater acoustic Tonpilz transducer with the piezoelectric single crystal(72PMN-28PT) is developed. The thickness and the number of piezoelectric elements are theoretically designed with the equivalent circuit analysis to have the desired resonance frequency. In order to compare the performances, a piezoelectric ceramic transducer is also manufactured and their electrical impedance, TVR (transmitting voltage response), RVS (receiving voltage response) and beam pattern are compared.

New insights in piezoelectric free-vibrations using simplified modeling and analyses

  • New insights are presented in simplified modeling and analysis of free vibrations of piezoelectric - based smart structures and systems. These consist, first, in extending the wide used piezoelectric-thermal analogy (TA) simplified modeling approach in currently static actuation to piezoelectric free-vibrations under short-circuit (SC) and approximate open-circuit (OC) electric conditions; second, the popular piezoelectric strain induced - potential (IP) simplified modeling concept is revisited. It is shown that the IP resulting frequencies are insensitive to the electric SC/OC conditions; in particular, SC frequencies are found to be the same as those resulting from the newly proposed OC TA. Two-dimensional plane strain (PStrain) and plane stress (PStress) free-vibrations problems are then analyzed for above used SC and approximate OC electric conditions. It is shown theoretically and validated numerically that, for both SC and OC electric conditions, PStress frequencies are lower than PStrain ones, and that 3D frequencies are bounded from below by the former and from above by the latter. The same holds for the modal electro-mechanical coupling coefficient that is retained as a comparator of presented models and analyses.

소나 송신기의 정합회로 설계를 위한 수중 음향 압전 트랜스듀서의 등가회로 파라미터 추정 (Estimation of Equivalent Circuit Parameters of Underwater Acoustic Piezoelectric Transducer for Matching Network Design of Sonar Transmitter)

  • This paper presents an estimation technique of the equivalent circuit parameters for an underwater acoustic piezoelectric transducer from the measured impedance. Estimated equivalent circuit can be used for the design of the impedance matching network of the sonar transmitter. A fitness function is proposed to minimize the error between the calculated impedance of the equivalent circuit and the measured impedance of the transducer. The equivalent circuit parameters are estimated by using the fitness function and the PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the applications to a sandwich-type transducer and a dummy load. In addition, the impedance matching network is also designed by using the estimated equivalent circuit model.

  • In this research, a wafar-level transfer method of cantilever array on a conventional CMOS circuit has been developed for high density probe-based data storage. The transferred cantilevers were silicon nitride ($Si_3N_4$) cantilevers integrated with poly silicon heaters and piezoelectric sensors, called thermo-piezoelectric $Si_3N_4$ cantilevers. In this process, we did not use a SOI wafer but a conventional p-type wafer for the fabrication of the thermo-piezoelectric $Si_3N_4$ cantilever arrays. Furthermore, we have developed a very simple transfer process, requiring only one step of cantilever transfer process for the integration of the CMOS wafer and cantilevers. Using this process, we have fabricated a single thermo-piezoelectric $Si_3N_4$ cantilever, and recorded 65nm data bits on a PMMA film and confirmed a charge signal at 5nm of cantilever deflection. And we have successfully applied this method to transfer 34 by 34 thermo-piezoelectric $Si_3N_4$ cantilever arrays on a CMOS wafer. We obtained reading signals from one of the cantilevers.

압전감쇠를 통한 압전단일패널의 전달 소음저감성능 (Transmitted Noise Reduction Performance of Piezoelectric Single Panel through Piezo-damping)

  • 저주파공진에서의 소음저감을 위한 압전단일패널에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 압전단일패널은 압전재료를 평판 구조물에 부착하고, 션트회로를 압전재료에 연결한 구조물이다. 구조물의 저주파공진에서의 전달 소음저감을 위하여 압전감쇠를 이용하였다. 압전감쇠의 파라메터 튜닝은 제안한 새로운 방법을 적용하였다. 이 방법은 전기적 임피던스모델을 기초로 하여 공진회로에서 에너지 소산이 최대가 되도록 하는 방법으로 구조물에 부착된 압전재료에서 전기적 임피던스를 측정하여 시스템의 공진주파수 근처에서 등가 전기 회로를 구성하였다. 압전감쇠를 위한 공진션트 회로는 직렬로 연결된 저항과 인덕터로 구성되었으며, 저항과 인덕터는 회로에서 소산되는 에너지가 최대가 될 수 있는 값으로 최적설계 하였다. 압전단일패널의 전달 소음저감성능은 음향터널을 이용하여 실험을 수행하였다. 음향터널은 사각단면이며 소음 원으로 터널의 한 쪽 끝에 스피커가 설치되었다. 패널은 터널의 중앙에 설치하여 투과 음압을 측정하였다. 압전감쇠를 통하여, 공진주파수에서의 좋은 소음 저감을 얻었다. 압전감쇠를 이용한 압전단일패널은 간단하고 경계적인 측면에서 소음 저감을 위한 유망한 기술이다.

  • 광대역 소음저감을 위한 압전지능패널에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 압전지능패널은 기본적으로 압전재료를 부착한 평판구조물에 션트회로를 연결하고 흡음재들을 부가한 구조물이다. 압전감쇠와 수동적 특성을 혼용하여 중 주파수영역에서 흡음재의 수동적 특성을 이용하고 저주파수 영역의 공진주파수에서는 압전감쇠를 적용하여 소음저감시키는 개념이다. 저주파수 공진에서의 소음저감을 위하여 측정한 전기적 임피던스 모델을 이용하는 압전감쇠를 적용하였다. 압전감쇠를 위한 공진 션트회로는 직렬로 연결된 저항과 인덕터로 구성되었으며, 저항과 인덕터는 회로에서 소산되는 에너지가 최대가 될 수 있는 값으로 최적설계하였다. 압전지능패널의 전달소음저감 성능은 음향터널을 사용하여 실험을 수행하였다. 음향터널은 사각단면 형태이며 소음원으로 터널의 한 쪽 끝에 스피커가 설치되었다. 패널들을 터널의 중앙에 설치하여 투과 음압을 측정하였다. 흡음재와 공기층을 갖는 압전이중지능패널은 수동적 특성에 의해 저주파수 영역의 공진주파수를 제외한 중주파수 영역에서 뚜렷한 소음저감 효과를 나타내었다. 압전감쇠를 통하여, 공진주파수에서의 좋은 소음저감을 얻었다. 압전감쇠와 수동적 방법을 혼용하는 압전지능 패널은 넓은 주파수 영역에서의 소음저감을 위한 유망한 기술이다.

Passive Suppression of Nonlinear Panel Flutter Using Piezoelectric Materials with Resonant Circuit

  • In this study, a passive suppression scheme for nonlinear flutter problem of composite panel, which is believed to be more reliable than the active control methods in practical operations, is proposed. This scheme utilizes a piezoelectric inductor-resistor series shunt circuit. The finite element equations of motion for an electromechanically coupled system is derived by applying the Hamilton\\`s principle. The aerodynamic theory adopted for the present study is based on the quasi-steady piston theory, and von-barman nonlinear strain-displacement relation is also applied. The passive suppression results for nonlinear panel flutter are obtained in the time domain using the Newmark-$\beta$ method. To achieve the best damping effect, optimal shape and location of fille piezoceramic (PZT) patches are determined by using genetic algorithms. The effects of passive suppression are investigated by employing in turn one shunt circuit and two independent shunt circuits. Feasibility studies show that two independent inductor-resistor shunt circuits suppresses flutter more effectively than a single shunt circuit. The results clearly demonstrate that the passive damping scheme that uses piezoelectric shunt circuit can effectively attenuate the flutter.

Modeling and performance evaluation of a piezoelectric energy harvester with segmented electrodes

  • Conventional cantilevered piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEHs) are usually fabricated with continuous electrode configuration (CEC), which suffers from the electrical cancellation at higher vibration modes. Though previous research pointed out that the segmented electrode configuration (SEC) can address this issue, a comprehensive evaluation of the PEH with SEC has yet been reported. With the consideration of delivering power to a common load, the AC outputs from all segmented electrode pairs should be rectified to DC outputs separately. In such case, theoretical formulation for power estimation becomes challenging. This paper proposes a method based on equivalent circuit model (ECM) and circuit simulation to evaluate the performance of the PEH with SEC. First, the parameters of the multi-mode ECM are identified from theoretical analysis. The ECM is then established in SPICE software and validated by the theoretical model and finite element method (FEM) with resistive loads. Subsequently, the optimal performances with SEC and CEC are compared considering the practical DC interface circuit. A comprehensive evaluation of the advantageous performance with SEC is provided for the first time. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using SEC as a simple and effective means to improve the performance of a cantilevered PEH at a higher mode.
