열간포머 단조공정중 스프링부착 금형을 가진 피어싱과 트리밍 동시공정의 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of a Piercing and Trimming Process Having a Spring-Attached Die in Hot Former Forging)

  • In this paper, the rigid-viscoplastic finite element method is employed together with an iteratively force-balancing method to analyze a piercing and trimming process with a spring-attached die in hot former forging. An actual piercing and trimming process with a spring-attached die is investigated in detail and a generalized analysis model is proposed. A multi-stage hot former forging process is simulated under various spring constants. The analyzed results are discussed in order to investigate the effects of spring constants on the metal flow lines and the formed shapes. Then an optimal piercing and trimming process in hot former forging is devised.

  • The hot stamping process is widely used for high strength of vehicle parts, with heating 900 ℃ or higher in a furnace and in-die quenching to achieve strength above 1.5 GPa of the quenchable boron alloyed steel 22MnB5. First of all, the hot stamping process consisted of heating, forming, quenching and trimming. In the trimming process case, the laser method has been conventionally adopted. For laser trimming process, it has the problems pertaining to low productivity and high cost while the hot stamping process, accordingly the trimming process need to investigate the research for alternative method. In order to overcome these issues, many research groups have studied the mechanical trim solution on the hot stamped parts at high temperature. In this study, the mechanical piercing was performed during the hot stamping process at the high temperature for overcome the disadvantages of laser cutting. Also, the process parameters such as piercing time after die closing, clearances of between die and punch were controlled for obtaining the reasonable shear characteristics.

  • In this paper,we will discuss in the forming process design of the making engine pulleys for automobiles. These pulleys are required to be made by precision deep drawing process because these are to be combined with bearings and engine timing belts. These pulleys are used of cold rolled steel plates starting with the initial blanking size of 115.2mm and the initial thickness of 1.2mm. Our deep drawing process is designed the continuous 5-steps process, that is, 1'st deep drawing, 2'nd reverse redrawing, 3'rd trimming, 4'th drawing-ironing and 5'yh piercing. This process need no in-process annealing.

  • Tool wear in the shearing process such as blanking, piercing and trimming is very important, because it has great effects on the dimensional accuracy, working efficiency and economy. Most of tools in the shearing process have the coated layer at surface fur good wear and corrosion resistance. When the surface of tool is teated, the wear Phenomena of coated surface layer and inner layer may be different. This paper describes a computer modelling technique by the finite element method in order to investigate the wear mechanism and to predict the wear profile of Ti-N coated tool in piercing process according to the volume of Production. Wear coefficients of the coated layer and inner layer are obtained through Pin-on-Disk wear test, respectively. To verify the effectiveness of the suggested technique, the technique is applied to wear analysis in piercing recess of piston pin and simulation results are compared with experimental ones.

  • In this paper, a 3-D computer-aided die design process was developed for automobile rear frame with drawing, trimming, flanging, cam-piercing and piercing for tool design. The tool design has been done using Pro/Engineer on a personal computer. It is composed of four stations. The goal of this research is to apply each of stations for the standard tool specification to each station.

  • A rear axle spider in an irregular shape, which is used as a part in the braking system of a vehicle like a big truck and a trailer, is subjected to a large torque and hence requires both strength and endurance over the brake heat. This part should be therefore manufactured in dimensional accuracy. The practical manufacturing process of this irregular product requires the heat treatment process after hot forging and then the cold coining process for the dimensional accuracy. At the present study, the warm coning without the heat treatment process was proposed to employ the residual heat due to the hot forging process. And also the trimming and piercing process was designed using the rigid-plastic finite element method. The mechanical properties were discussed and also commented upon.

  • Shearing, including blanking, trimming, piercing, etc, is one of the most frequently used processes in sheet metal manufacturing. In this paper, an individual set of tooling with an in-die sensor was designed and precisely fabricated to carry out the experiment for the shearing process investigation. Through various experiments, it has been examined the influence of process parameters such as clearance, edge material properties and pad configuration. Since the tension between the part and the scrap increases when the clearance increases, the clearance should be selected properly in order to reduce the burr height. Also removal of the lower pad makes the sheared surface worse and the shearing system unstable. The shearing force increases when the clearance decreases and the friction of the tooling material decreases. Dynamic reaction force is also important to obtain the fine sheared surfaces.

  • This paper presents the fine-shearing experimental investigation using brass sheets. Shearing including blanking, trimming, piercing, etc is one of the most frequently used processes in sheet metal manufacturing. In this study, an individual set of tooling was designed and fabricated to carry out experiment for shearing process. In order to investigate the effect of shearing surface correspond to die clearance, the profile of shearing surface was examined by using microscope. Futhermore, the relationship between shearing force and the profile of shearing surface was considered.

멀티 롤 포밍 공정의 품질 안정성에 대한 해석 및 실험적 연구 (Analytical and Experimental Study on the Quality Stability of Multi Roll Forming Process)

  • 품질 향상을 위해 연속적인 소성 변형을 이용한 롤 포밍 공정에 피어싱, 벤딩, 트리밍 등 별도의 가공공정을 통합한 볼 슬라이드 레일의 멀티 롤 포밍 공정의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 하지만 프레스기의 진동 및 소음은 이 공정에서 생산되는 슬라이드 레일의 품질 저하를 유발한다. 본 연구에서는 롤 포밍 유한요소 프로그램으로 최적 변형률을 고려하여 롤을 설계하였다. 그리고 멀티 공정의 정적 안정성을 예측하기 위해 구조해석 프로그램으로 프레스기에 대한 응력 및 변형량을 계산하였다. 또한 공진영역에서의 장치들의 운전을 회피하기 위해 Modal 해석을 통해 1, 2차 모드에서의 고유진동수를 계산하였다. 그 결과 공정의 동적 안정성 개선을 확인하기 위해 마이크로폰과 가속도계를 이용하여 기존 및 연구 공정들의 소음, 진동의 크기를 비교하였다. 그리고 기존 및 연구 공정으로 생산되어진 레일의 폭 치수와 표면거칠기를 측정하였다. 따라서 해석 및 실험적 연구를 통해 멀티 롤 포밍 공정이 안정하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

2겹 판재 멀티포밍 장치에 관한 연구 (A study of Double Sheet Multi-forming Equipment)

  • 대부분의 모터 케이스는 방수기능과동심도, 직각도 품질 등이 우수한딥드로잉 제품을 채택하고 있으며 그외 방수기능이 필요없는 블로우모터, 시트모터 등 실내에 장착되는 모터 케이스는 멀티포밍 제조방법을 채택하고 있다. 딥드로잉 공정은 드로잉 성형, 트리밍 및 피어싱 등 약 12공정을 소화할수 있는 고가의 트랜스퍼 프레스가 필요하다. 하지만 멀티포밍 공법은 멀티포밍기 1대 또는 멀티포밍기 1대와 프레스 1대의 구성으로 이루어지기 때문에 저렴한 투자로도 완제품 생산이 가능하다. 멀티포밍기는 대부분 수입이 되는 고가설비 이고 국내 중소기업이 개발한 굽힘/전단가공 일체형 멀티포밍기는 생산원가를 줄이는데 부족하여 굽힘/전단 분리형 멀티포밍기를 본 연구를 통해 개발하였다. 일체형 멀티포밍기는 비교적 얇고 작은소형 제품을 제한적인 작업 방법으로 사용된다. 크고 소재가 두꺼운 제품은 전단 하중이 높아 단발 크랭크 프레스를 이용하고 블랭킹 후 멀티포밍기로 이동 작업자가 수작업으로 소재를 공급한다. 멀티포밍기에서 벤딩 작업이 이루어지면 다시 프레스로 이송해 치수를 교정한다. 이러한 작업공정 분산은 생산성 저하, 품질이슈 및 과도한 인원 투입으로 원가경쟁력 저하를 가져왔다 이에 굽힘/전단가공 공정분리와 설비자동화를 통하여 안정되고 원가가 절감되는 생산체계를 갖추고자 하는게 본 연구의 목적이다.
