  • In this paper, we proposed UWB system with variable rate in piconet environment that several wireless devices moves as variable. And, we analyzed the performance of UWB system according to multiple access interference and transmission rate. Also, we have evaluated the performance of m system with Truncated Type-II Hybrid ARQ scheme fer achieving high qualify data transmission.

  • Ad Hoc network not only can be the constitution of multiple piconet, but also can be the extension to the scatternet. By changing the length of the packets, it will transmit packets according to the amount of the transmission. There are two forms of the bluetooth. The one is the DM which is slower in speed but higher in reliance than the DH. The other is the DH which is faster in speed but lower in reliance than the DM. This paper tries to compare and analyze the performances of mobile hosts according to the forms of the packets in bluetooth Ad Hoc network.

  • MB-OFDM UWB시스템은 TFC(Time-Frequency Code)를 이용하여 시간/주파수 호핑을 수행한다. 이를 통해 주파수 영역에서 다이버시티 효과를 갖는 동시에 사용되는 다른 piconet간의 간섭을 최소할 수 있다. 송신단에서는 프리앰블을 전송할 때부터 해당 TFC에 맞게 호핑을 하면서 전송을 하기 때문에 수신단에서는 신호의 시작을 추정하는 패킷 검출은 매우 중요한 과제이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 MB-OFDM UWB시스템을 위한 간단하고 효율적인 패킷 검출 방법을 제안하였다. 시뮬레이션 수행 결과 제안된 방법은 기존 방법보다 약 0.5 dB의 SNR 개선 결과가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

  • HR-WPAN은 디바이스들과 망을 중재하는 역할을 하는 PNC가 피코넷을 형성함으로써 통신을 하게된다. PNC는 디바이스들 중에서 선발이 되며 PNC가 피코넷을 이탈하거나 더 능력이 우수한 디바이스가 피코넷에 참여할 때 PNC 핸드오버 과정을 통하여 신규 PNC로 역할이 이양된다. WPAN 권고안에서는 현재 피코넷의 운영상태를 고려하지 않고 디바이스들의 능력에만 기초하여 핸드오버를 수행한다. 신규 PNC는 기존의 PNC가 관리하던 디바이스들을 최대한 수용하여야 피코넷에 끼치는 효과를 최소화할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 자식 피코넷을 고려하여 PNC 선택방법을 제안하여 기존의 PNC가 관리하던 디바이스들을 최대한 수용할 수 있게 하였다.

RETRACTED: Double-Dwell Hybrid Acquisition in a DS-UWB System

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of double-dwell hybrid initial acquisition in a direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) system via detection, miss, false alarm probabilities, and mean acquisition time. In the analysis, we consider the effect of the acquisition sequence as well as the deployment scenario of the abundant multipath components over small coverage of the piconet in the DS-UWB system. Based on the simulation, we obtain various performance measures for the mean acquisition time by varying parameters such as the total number of hypotheses to be searched, subgroup size, and dwell time. We thereupon suggest the optimum parameter set for the initial acquisition in the DS-UWB system.

  • 블루투스는 본래 이동전화 핸드셋, 헤드셋, 그리고 휴대형 컴퓨터와 같은 장치를 연결하는 케이블을 제거하기 위해 개발된 것으로 저가, 저 전력, 단거리의 무선 기술이다. 그러나 전자 제품간에 표준화된 무선 통신이 가능하게 됨으로 인하여 블루투스는 휴대전화나 PDA, 노트북 PC 와 같은 모바일 기기에 부착되어 무선 ad-hoc 네트워크를 구성할 수 있게 되었다. 블루투스는 시분할 다중화 시스템(TDM) 방식으로 최대 8 개의 블루투스 기기가 모여 하나의 채널을 공유하는 '피코넷(piconet)' 을 형성할 수 있고 여러 개의 피코넷을 연결하여 '스캐터넷(scatternet)' 이라는 더 큰 네트워크를 구성할 수 있다. 이러한 블루투스 네트워크에서 기존의 브로드캐스트 서비스는 단순한 재전송 방식으로 인해 신뢰성과 효율성에 있어서 많은 문제점을 안고 있으며 블루투스의 특징을 고려하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 블루투스 네트워크에서 브로드캐스트 패킷의 수신을 보장하면서 대역폭을 효율적으로 사용하는 브로드캐스트 패킷 전송 기법을 제시하고자 한다.

Scatternet Formation Algorithm based on Relative Neighborhood Graph

  • This paper proposes a scatternet topology formation, self-healing, and self-routing path optimization algorithm based on Relative Neighborhood Graph. The performance of the algorithm using ns-2 and extensible Bluetooth simulator called blueware shows that even though RNG-FHR does not have superior performance, it is simpler and easier to implement in deploying the Ad-Hoc network in the distributed dynamic environments due to the exchange of fewer messages and the only dependency on local information. We realize that our proposed algorithm is more practicable in a reasonable size network than in a large scale.

An Adaptive Frequency Hopping Method in the Bluetooth Baseband

  • In the Bluetooth specification version 1.0, one specific frequency in one piconet was created depending upon the device clock and the Bluetooth native address at one specific time slot in the frequency hopping method. The basic hopping pattern was arranging the 79 ISM frequency band in pseudo-random fashion. Possible problem is the chance of collision of ownership of one specific frequency by more than 2 wireless devices when they are within the communication-active range. In this paper, we propose the adaptive frequency hopping method in order to resolve the possible problem so that more than 2 wireless devices communicates with their own client devices without being interfered. The proposed method was implemented with HDL later to be synthesized with an automatic EDA synthesizer and verified as well. The implemented adaptive frequency hopping circuit operated normally at 24MHz which will be the target clock frequency of the target Bluetooth device.

Performance Enhancement of IEEE 802.15.3 MAC for Simultaneously Operating Piconets

  • In the IEEE 802.15.3 Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol, Simultaneously Operating Piconets (SOPs) are linked by the parent/child (P/C) or parent/neighbor (P/N) configuration, which work on a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) basis. This provides interference mitigation but the overall throughput is limited because the SOPs share the channel time exclusively. The protocol is not efficient for SOPs if we focus on the combination of interference mitigation and high throughput maintenance. In this paper Public Channel Time Allocation (Public CTA) is proposed, which is able to greatly reduce the inter-piconet interference (IPI) and achieve greater throughput without much loss of link success probability (LSP) in the SOPs. The simulation results based on the SOPs of Direct Sequence Ultra Wideband (DS-UWB) system demonstrate that the proposed scheme effectively supports the coexistence of SOPs, and it can not only significantly improve the overall throughput of SOPs but also maintain high LSP.
