  • Recently, greenery system is frequently applied on buildings and artificial grounds to improve urban ecological functionality. Specifically, architectural greenery is also known as an architectural language that can meet the sustainable design concept of architects. Although the architectural greenery system can be optimized through an interdisciplinary approach between architecture, horticulture and landscape- architecture, there is a problem of communication on the ideal gap between them. Therefore, this study is expected to establish the comtemporary architecture as hi-tech and the organic architecture in internationalism. Moreover, it can analyze the case study on architectural greenery system designed by a Pritzker Prize winner who represents the comtemporary architectural trend. In this analysis, we calculate and compare the U-value of the free-form surface system based on the international standards: ISO and CIBSE etc. Moreover, we calculate a change of artificial soil transmittance respect on compounding ratio of the bottom ash and pearlite. In the case of California Academy of Science by Renzo Piano, total transmittance of the greenery system results in 48% of domestic thermal insulation standard in dry condition. This result will be used as a basic study to promote developing the advanced system based on the concept of consilience.

  • In this paper, the plano-convex lens antenna fed by a single patch is studied for a microwave remote-traffic monitoring sensor with constraints of small size and low cost. Measurement of an AUT (Antenna Under Test) involves the considerations of a triangular groove for matched layer and metallic shielding effects. A formulation for extracting the parameters of a piano-convex lens antenna, based on geometrical optics, is introduced using Fermat`s principle of the equi-phased ray condition. Teflon ($\varepsilon_{{\gamma}}$/ =2.0) is chosen as a material of a plano-convex lens antenna for adjustment of aberrations on the lens surfaces automatically. A fabricated plano-convex lens shows 3-dB beamwidth of 7.5 degree and side-lobe level of -29 dB with an aperture distribution of the parabolic-squared taper on pedestal. This lens supports easier integration with the planar microwave circuits by using a microstrip single patch as a primary feeder of the lens antenna.feeder of the lens antenna.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this pilot study were to describe the perceived effectiveness of music therapy for pain control and to identify music preference for postoperative pain and anxiety control in Korean women who had a gynecological surgery. Sample: A convenience sample of 52 women was recruited from a gynecological unit at P University hospital and they were interviewed to assess their perception of music therapy and music preference using a structured study questionnaire. Results: Fifty-six percent of women reported that music therapy would be effective and 96% perceived it would be effective if combined with analgesics. The best music chosen for relieving postoperative pain and anxiety were Korean old pop and ballad song/music followed by Korean religious music, American pop songs, piano music, Korean classic songs, and Orchestra music. Conclusion: There was a cultural difference in music preference for the relief of post-operative pain in this sample. Therefore, effects of music for postoperative pain control need to be determined after considering musical preferences of postoperative women in Korea.

  • Since the new millennium, truss PCMs(Periodic Cellular Metals) have drawn attention because of their superior specific stiffness, strength and multi-functionality. Prior studies have focused on the structural design and optimization. Kagome truss PCM has been proved to have the higher resistance to plastic buckling, more plastic deformation energy and lower anisotropy than other truss PCMs. In this study, we introduce a new idea to fabricate multi-layered Kagome truss PCM from continuous wires which can gain high strength as in piano wires and can be controlled to be defect free owing to drawing process. The relative density, the stiffness and the strength under bending and compressive load are estimated through elementary mechanics and compared with the results from experiments and FEA. The failure mechanisms are analyzed, and also mechanical performance and production are discussed.

  • Ear training is said to be the ability to measure sound either in terms of musical scale or cord by listening to music acoustically. This is the most basic subject and the most practical technique in any music genre; also, the most crucial factor for individuals who are studying music. Ear training is an important skill to develop when learning to play the piano, or learning any kind of musical instrument. It is also the key factor in a successful music education. Everyone can develop their musical ability if ear training is provided during childhood. The aim of this study is to develop an ear training system whereby beginners or children can learn music with ease in terms of computer access which is part of their daily life. This system is devised so that children can practice ear training easily. This system is also beneficial to others who plan to major in music.

  • Monomeric rhodium and iridium diimine complexes $Cp^*M(HNRNH)(Cp^*$ = 1,2,3,4,5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl : (M=lr; R=o-$C_6H_4 (1a), 4,5-(CH_3)_2-C_6H_2-1,2 (1b), 4,5-(Cl)_2-C_6H_2-1,2$ (1c), NCC=CCN-1,2 (1d): M=Rh; R=NCC=CCN-1,2 (1e)) have been synthesized from $[CP^*MCl_2]_2$ and 2 equiv. of diamine in the presence of $NEt_3$. The Crystal structure of 1a was determined by X-ray diffraction method : 1a was crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group $P2_{1/c}$, with lattice constants a=9.543 (1) ${\AA}$, b=16.286 (1) ${\AA}$, c=10.068 (1) ${\AA}$ and ${\beta}$=99.25 (1), with Z= 4. Least-squares refinement of the structure led to R factor of 0.049. The coordination sphere of rhodium and iridium can be described as a 2-legged piano-stool. All complexes are highly colored. Electrochemical studies show that 1d and 1e display quasi-reversible reduction and 1a-1c display irreversible reductions, suggesting that the acceptor orbital might be localized on the diimine ring.

  • Nowadays the music market is getting bigger while students are losing their creativity because of the cramming education even in the music class. Based on the growing music market, we made a project for students to play the musical instruments more easily. The suggested program is different from any other system because, with this program, we can play the musical instruments if only we have a keyboard made of paper and Webcam, which made us save money. When an user put his finger on the paper keyboard, Webcam makes a sound recognizing the position of the finger on the keyboard. We can choose one instrument out of four; Piano, drum, base and guitar. With this system, we can get an opportunity to learn many sounds of musical instruments and make our own melody.

  • The loss of cable tension for civil infrastructure reduces structural bearing capacity and causes harmful deformation of structures. Currently, most of the structural health monitoring (SHM) approaches for cables rely on contact transducers. This paper proposes a cable tension identification technology using percussion sound, which provides a fast determination of steel cable tension without physical contact between cables and sensors. Notably, inspired by the concept of tensioning strings for piano tuning, this proposed technology predicts cable tension value by deep learning assisted classification of "percussion" sound from tapping a steel cable. To simulate the non-linear mapping of human ears to sound and to better quantify the minor changes in the high-frequency bands of the sound spectrum generated by percussions, Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) were extracted as acoustic features to train the deep learning network. A convolutional neural network (CNN) with four convolutional layers and two global pooling layers was employed to identify the cable tension in a certain designed range. Moreover, theoretical and finite element methods (FEM) were conducted to prove the feasibility of the proposed technology. Finally, the identification performance of the proposed technology was experimentally investigated. Overall, results show that the proposed percussion-based technology has great potentials for estimating cable tension for in-situ structural safety assessment.
