  • Poly (N,N-dimethylacrylamide) is very useful in various fields due to its remarkable properties, such as water solubility and biocompatibility. This study used N,N-dimethylacrylamide with the cross-linker EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), NVP (N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and the initiator AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) for copolymerization. Measurement of the physical properties of the copolymerized polymer showed that the water content was 36 - 42%, refractive index was 1.433 - 1.426 and visible ray transmittance 90 - 91% while the oxygen permeability showed a distribution between 13.1 and $21.29{\times}10^{-11}(cm^2/sec)$ ($mlO_2/mL{\times}mmHg$). The measurement showed that the increased amount of oxygen permeability of the copolymer measured using the polarographic method range between 11.0% and 80.5%. Based on the results of this study, the produced copolymer is suitable for use as a material to high oxygen permeability hydrogel lenses.

  • In this paper, we proposed the image-based 3D ray-tracing indoor propagation model using patch scattering model which can calculate the scattering phenomenon of the indoor structures. A patch scattering model for modeling indoor structures defines a scattering phenomenon by using RCS(Radar Cross Section) about rectangular patch without complex calculation, for example generating image antennas about each indoor structures. RCS is simply defined as a ratio of scattering power to incident power, and we use bistatic PCS which is simplified numerically by Physical Optics. Also, a simple indoor compensation factor is defined as empirical constant from measured data instead of complex numerical expression because basic patch scattering model cannot include important multipath components, so we san use patch scattering model in indoor environment using indoor compensation factor.

  • In general, the cassegrain dual offset reflector is used for the satellite communication antenna, but is analyzed as the reflector system for the CPTR(Compact Payload Test Range) facility in here. The near-field at the test zone of the CPTR is obtained by using the physical optics approximation. The CPTR has to provide a uniform plane wave with the minimum amplitude and phase ripple and the low cross polarization. Therefore, in this paper, the near-field pattern are calculated, and the ripple and taper of the field and the cross polarization are investigated with the variation of the reflector geometry and the position of the test region. Especially, the cross polarization of the antenna axis direction which is not found in the satellite reflector antennas is investigated.

  • A cruise missile uses wings and a jet engine like an airplane to reach the target after cruising a considerable distance. An integrated design of a cruise missile based on radar cross section (RCS) reduction and enhanced aerodynamic performance is indispensable, since it must be able to fly long-distance at subsonic speed without being detected by enemy radar. In this study, we designed a Taurus-type cruise missile and analyzed its RCS and aerodynamic characteristics using the physical optics (PO) technique and the Navier-Stokes CFD code. As a result, we obtained the optimal shape of cruise missile with improved aerodynamic performance and reduced RCS.

  • Purpose: We have analyzed the transmittance distribution of the ocular lens using local transmittance microscope to investigate the optical homogeneity of the lens. Methods: The transmittance of the laser which is focused on the surface of the ocular lens was measured by using the photo-detector and lock-in amplifier and analyzed. Multi-coated, uncoated, and progressive lenses were analyzed. Results: In the measurement of the progressive lens and a physical stimulated lens, local transmittance microscopy analysis showed a high degree of match with the measurement results through the optical microscope. In addition, the average value of the transmittance is reduced and the standard deviation was increased in the presence of optical defects. In unstimulated lens, there are a large impact on transmittance whether the anti-reflective coating is presence or absence in both the local transmittance microscopy and general transmittance analysis. Conclusions: The distribution of the transmittance measured by local transmission microscopy were changed when the various stimulus is applied to the lenses. These analyzes by local transmission microscopy can be utilized as a way to evaluate or determine the uniformity of the coating film or lens.

  • Lighting in indoor space is being changed to system lighting converged with IT technology. Office space lighting with incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps was completed through overall lighting plan by illumination in most cases, but convergence between LED lighting and IT technology enables the technology of responding to user requirements to be realized. Optical physical quantity suitable for humans and the lighting environment in accordance with user's sensibility, based on space function and user's behavior, would contribute to the improvement of service productivity, energy reduction, and enhancement of emotional satisfaction by providing user optimized lighting solution. Thus, user-customized system lighting guidelines to be applied with integration indicators of optics and sensibility are required. For the design elements required by users, environmental factors, product characteristics, optical characteristics, and sensibility factors are drawn from the design cases for office space and the survey, and the design check list and evaluation indicators are considered to reflect the requirements in the design and requirement indicators to give integrated satisfaction for optics and sensibility are developed. Purpose-centered design method from the user's viewpoint is applied to function-focused design through scenario, and it should be applied flexibly, as the new lightning design method solutions, to the concept design stage of space lighting design and device development. This paper, therefore, presents user-customized guidelines by pursuing the optics and sensibility evaluation and design method combining the requirement conditions and scenario, to be used for lighting content development and design.

  • This study used glycerol dimethacrylate with the cross-linker EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), MA (methacrylic acid) and the initiator AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) for copolymerization. Measurement of the physical properties of the copolymerized polymer showed that the water content was 22~32%, refractive index was 1.442~1.463 and visible ray transmittance 90.0~90.5% while the contact angle showed a distribution between 56 and $65^{\circ}$. Also, the measurement showed that the decreased amount of contact angle of the copolymer measured using the sessile drop method ranged between $9.89^{\circ}$ and $18.99^{\circ}$ with increase of glycerol dimethacrylate. Based on the results of this study, the produced copolymer is suitable for use as a material to high wettability ophthalmic lenses.

  • The effect of electric current pulses on a sub-100 nm magnetic bubble state in a symmetric Pt/Co multilayer was directly observed using a full-field transmission soft X-ray microscope (MTXM). Field-induced evolution of the magnetic stripe domains into isolated bubbles with their sizes down to 100 nm was imaged under varying external magnetic fields. Electric current pulses were then applied to the created magnetic bubbles, and it was observed that the bubbles could be either created or annihilated by the current pulse depending on the strength of applied magnetic field. The results suggest that the Joule heating plays a critical role in the formation and/or elimination of the bubbles and skyrmions. Finally, the schematic phase diagram for the creation and annihilation of bubbles is presented, suggesting an optimized scheme with the combination of magnetic field and electric current necessary to utilize skyrmions in the practical devices.

  • A KRISS-type small integrating sphere with a high spatial radiance uniformity was made using pressed polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a reflective rod to calibrate the spectral radiance responsivity of absolute radiant thermometers. The spatial radiance uniformity of the KRISS-type small integrating sphere was ±0.009%, five times higher than the best value reported by foreign national metrology institutions thus far. In addition, we improved the spatial radiance uniformity of a commercial sintered PTFE integrating sphere by a factor of 10.
