A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial on the Effects of Technology-aided Testing and Feedback on Physical Activity and Biological Age Among Employees in a Medium-sized Enterprise

  • Background: It has been suggested that engaging technology can empower individuals to be more proactive about their health and reduce their health risks. The aim of the present intervention was to study the effects of technology-aided testing and feedback on physical activity and biological age of employees in a middle-sized enterprise. Methods: In all, 121 employees (mean age $42{\pm}10$ years) participated in the 12-month three-arm cluster randomized trial. The fitness measurement process (Body Age) determined the participants' biological age in years. Physical activity was measured with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form. Results: Physical activity did not change during the intervention. Biological age (better fitness) improved in all groups statistically significantly (p < 0.001), but with no interaction effects. The mean changes (years) in the groups were -2.20 for the controls, e2.83 for the group receiving their biological age and feedback, and -2.31 for the group receiving their biological age, feedback, and a training computer. Conclusion: Technology-aided testing with feedback does not seem to change the amount of physical activity but may enhance physical fitness measured by biological age.

중년여성의 체력, 식이섭취와 혈청지질과의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (A Study on Correlation among Physical Fitness, Diet Intakes and Serum Lipid in Middle Aged Women.)

  • This study was performed to investigate the correlations among physical anthropometric measurement, diet intakes, physical fitness test, and serum lipids in eight sedentary women(control group), and twenty seven exercising women(aerobic groups), aged 35~45 years. The results of the study are as follows : 1) systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) of aerobic groups were lower than serf entary. Pulse rate was decreased according to the length of aerobic periods. Muscular endurance and jump power of all subjects were stronger than standard range, and those of aerobic exercising groups were stronger than control group. Muscular power of the upper half of the body In all subjects were lower than standard range. 2) Daily calorie intakes of all subjects were in the ring: of recommended dietary allowances (RDA) for Koreans. But daily protein Intakes were higher than RDA. daily cholestrol intakes of all subjects were slightly less than 200~300 mg: which is normal consumption of Koreans. 3) There was a significant positive correlation between serum 7G and daily protein intakes. It was considered that excessive protein intake converted to serum 7G. There was not a significant correlation between serum TC and dietary TC. Therefore, dietary TC seemed to have not much effect on serum TC. Physical fitness was negatively related to serum TG, TC, LDL-C, but positively related to HDL-C, HDL-C /TC. It was found that the serum lipids could be changed better according to improving the physical fitness. There were significant positive correlations between SBP and serum TC, LDL-C. (According to this results), the higher SBP, the higher serum TC, LDL-C tended to be. There was a significant positive correlations between sit up and weightloss nth exercise r=0.7(p<0.001), push ups and weightless with exercise r=0.5(p<0.001). It was considered that muscle strength could be improved according to the weightloss. 4) The purpose of exercise in aerobic groups was rather promoting health than reducing body fatness. Most of al1 subjects (83.2%) drank caffeine-contained beverage therefore, we should concern about that absorption of Fe could be Interrupted and blood pressure could be elevated by caffeine.

중년여성의 수중재활운동이 신체적성과 혈중지질에 미치는 융합연구 (Convergence Study on Effects of Underwater Rehabilitation Exercise on Physical Fitness and Blood Lipids in Middle Aged Women)

  • 본 연구는 10주간의 수중재활운동이 중년여성의 신체적성과 혈중지질에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울에 거주하는 중년 여성을 대상으로 하였다. 수중재활운동 프로그램은 10주간 주 3 회 실시하였고, 운동 시간은 준비운동, 정리운동, 본 운동을 포함하여 60분간 실시하였다. 운동 강도는 운동 전 검사를 통해 심박수를 기준으로 60-70%로 설정하였다. 자료처리는 각 측정 항목에 대한 기술 통계를 제시하고 그룹 간에 상호 작용 효과를 조사하기 위해 2-way RGRM ANOVA를 수행하였다. 연구 결과 신체적성(유연성, 심폐지구력, 근지구력) 및 혈중지질(TG, TC, HLD-C, LDL-C)에서 의미 있는 상호작용효과를 나타냈다. 본 연구를 통해 중년 여성의 10주간의 수중재활운동 프로그램이 신체적성 수준은 높이고 혈중지질은 감소 및 증가 시키는 것으로 나타내, 심혈관 질환 예방 및 위험을 낮추는 효과적이며 융합적인 프로그램이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

태극권 수련이 간호대학생의 체력, 스트레스반응, 자아탄력성에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of a Tai Chi Training Program on Physical Fitness, Stress Response and Ego-resilience in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of Tai Chi training program on physical fitness, stress response and ego-resiliency in nursing students. Methods: 28 nursing students of D metropolitan city participated in non-equivalent control group pre- and post-test group test in quasi experimental design with written consent. Fourteen participants in the control group who did usual activities and 14 experimental participants who promised to participate 24 Tai Chi training sessions for 12 weeks. Both groups completed pre- and post-test measurement for physical fitness, a questionnaire regarding their stress response and ego-resiliency. Each 60-minute Tai Chi session was consisted of 5-minute warm up, 10-minute meditation, 40-minute Tai Chi, and 5-minute finishing exercise. Results: After 12 weeks, participants in the Tai Chi group reported significantly higher score in muscle endurance (t=3.77, p=.001), leg muscular strength (t=2.14, p=.042), and balance (t=2.12, p=.044) compared to the control group. The Tai Chi group recorded significantly lower score than the control group on stress response (t=2.75, p=.011). Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of Tai Chi for a reduction in stress response and promotion in physical fitness in nursing students. Applying Tai Chi training to nursing program will help nursing students to have better academic performance.

8주간 복싱 복합트레이닝이 남자 대학생의 심폐기능과 건강관련체력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of 8 Week Boxing Combined Training on Health Related Physical Fitness and Cardiopulmonary Function in Male College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of boxing combined training on cardiopulmonary function and health-related fitness in male college students over a period of eight weeks. Methods: Eighteen male students were randomly assigned to the following groups: boxing exercise (n=6), aerobic exercise e(n=6), and non-exercise (n=6). The exercise program was conducted for 50 minutes every three weeks, for a total of eight weeks. After eight weeks, the factors that affected the measurement variables were analyzed, and the following results were obtained. Results: Participants in the eight-week boxing exercise group and the aerobic exercise group showed significantly increased maximal oxygen, which was not observed in the control group. The body mass index decreased in the aerobic exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing exercise and control groups. Body fat (%) and abdominal fat (%) significantly decreased in all exercise groups, but significantly increased in the control group. Skeletal muscle mass increased in the boxing exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing, aerobic exercise, and control groups. Muscular strength and muscular endurance increased in both exercise group, but did not change in the control group. Flexibility showed no differences between the groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, an eight-week boxing exercise program for college students showed positive effects on cardiorespiratory function and health-related fitness.

8주간의 복합운동프로그램이 초등학생의 신장, 체성분, 체력에 미치는 효과 (Effect of 8 Weeks Complex Exercise Program on The Height, Body Composition, Physical Fitness in Elementary School Children)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 8주간 복합운동프로그램이 초등학생의 신장, 체성분, 체력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 실시하였다. 연구방법 : 경기도에 소재한 성남종합사회복지관의 복합운동프로그램에 지원한 남녀 초등 3 ~ 6학년 학생 11명(남자=6명, 여자=5명)을 대상자로 선정하여 8주 동안 주 2회 50분씩 복합운동프로그램(국민체조, 특허스트레칭, 음악 줄넘기, 탄력밴드운동, 마무리운동)을 적용하였다. 운동 전 후의 신장, 체성분을 알아보기 위하여 Inbody 520, 체력의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 Primus RS, Commander Power Track II, 윗몸일으키기, 체전굴을 사용하여 측정하였으며, 8주 후 재측정을 실시하였다. 결과 : 8주간 복합운동프로그램 적용 후 대상자는 실험 전보다 실험 후 신장, 체성분, 하지근력, 근지구력의 측정값은 유의한 차이를 보였다. 그러나 상지근력과 유연성은 향상되었지만 유의한 차이는 없었다. 결론 : 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 초등학생의 키성장, 체성분과 체력 향상에 복합운동프로그램이 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 연구에서 대조군과 다양한 환경적 요인들을 고려한다면 보다 나은 객관적인 결과를 얻을 것으로 생각된다.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Danjeon Breathing Exercise (DBE) on vital capacity, physical fitness, anxiety and depression among older adults. Methods: This study employed the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group participated in a 12-week DBE program. Vital capacity and physical fitness were measured with a health measurement system (HELMAS). Anxiety and depression were measured with SCL-90-R-K. Data were collected from 37 community-dwelling older adults (experimental group=21, control group=16) in the Seoul metropolitan area. The data were analyzed by $x^2$-test, Mann-Whitney test and ANCOVA. Results: The experimental group taking DBE reported significant increases in flexibility than the control group, but differences in vital capacity and balance were not significant. Older adults taking DBE showed significant decreases in the anxiety and depression levels. Conclusion: A DBE program may be a useful nursing intervention for older adults to improve their flexibility and to reduce anxiety and depression.

로잉운동의 부하편차 방식 적용에 따른 상하지 생체 역학적 평가 (Evaluation of Bio-Mechanical Character istics According to Loading Deviation Methods dur ing Rowing Exercise)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the validation of exercise effect with loading deviation during rowing exercise. We performed evaluation of based physical fitness and joint torque before the experiment for finding muscle unbalance. So we recruited twenty four subjects who have bigger muscle strength in more 20% than average one. Subjects divided two groups. One is dominant upper limbs(DU) and the other was dominant lower limbs(DL). Subjects performed rowing exercise using electric equipment (Robo.gym.Humonic.korea). Exercise is performed four sets a day including 25 times a set, and three days a week. Measurement consist of evaluation of based physical fitness and joint torque using biodex(biodex system3.USA). Evaluation of exercise effect performed each week in joint torque of shoulder, lumbar and knee joint and each month in based physical fitness. Also we adapted 30% of 1RM for muscular endurance and 70% of 1RM for muscle strength as exercise load. The results showed that the difference of maximal peak torque were getting increase significantly during exercise. Also difference of various factor in based physical fitness were getting increase significantly except flexibility and agility. This interpreted that rowing exercise with loading deviation types could provide muscle strength and muscular endurance exercise in same time. These results could be interpret to two ways. One is effect of improving physical fitness for rowing exercise and the other meaned validation of loading deviation in rowing exercise. Our study is going to verify the validation of loading deviation during rowing and we found out that loading deviation could provide muscle strength and muscular endurance exercise for improving muscle unbalance. Our study can be used development of exercise equipment and program for normal people with muscle unbalance. Also that provide effect of whole body exercise to anybody.

노인 체력 측정 결과와 보행 특성의 관계 (The Relationships among Gait Parameters and Senior Fitness Variables in Korean Elderly People)

  • 본 연구는 65세에서 85세 사이의 남녀 노인 200명을 대상으로 노인 체력 측정과 보행 검사를 실시하여 노인의 체력 변인과 보행 특성 간의 관계를 조사하고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 65세에서 85세 사이의 노인 200명으로 노인 체력 검사(Senior Fitness Test) 항목 6개와 추가 체력검사 3개(수직점프, 외발서기, 악력) 및 보행 측정을 수행하였다. 보행은 신발에 장착된 가속도계 기반 보행 측정 장비를 사용하였다. 이원분산분석, 주요인분석, 상관관계 분석을 실시하여 연령에 따른 영향과 변인들 간의 관계성을 파악하였다. 실험 결과 나이에 따라 보행 능력(보장, 6분 걷기), 제지방량, 체력(아령 들기)의 유의한 감소가 있었다(p<.05). 33개의 체력 및 보행 변인을 대상으로 주성분 분석을 실시한 결과 5개의 주성분(보행 특성, 신체 특성, 보행 가변성, 체지방 요인, 체력 요인)이 나타났으며 전체 가변성의 64.7% 설명력을 나타냈다. 보행 시 편한 보속은 보폭, 외발지지 시간과는 정적 상관, 양발지지 시간, 보행 가변성 변인들과는 부적 상관을 나타냈다(p<.05). 노인들의 삶의 질을 유지하려면 보행 능력이 매우 중요하며 이것은 근력운동을 통해 유지 또는 개선되어야 한다.

여중생 성장을 고려한 최적 교복치수 선정 -자켓과 스커트를 중심으로- (A Study on Fitness of Middle School Girls Uniform Size in Consideration of Growth -Focusing on Jacket and Skirt-)

  • This study is to suggest data for setting school uniform size with the size satisfaction degree through finding out the physical body change and uniform size problems following an increase in age during middle school girl days. For this purpose, by analyzing the physical body size data of 13~15 age of girls among $\ulcorner$human body size data of the youth for product design$\lrcorner$publicized under sponsorship of National Technology Quality Institute in 1999 the physical body size change by part following an increase in age during middle school girl days was found out and the most frequent physical body size by grade was suggested. Questionnaire about uniform production status and product size at the object of uniform makers were measured directly, a school uniform wearing status and size satisfaction degree by part were at the abject of middle school girls were examined by means of questionnaire and unsatisfactory factors in uniform size were found out. Based on collected data the most optimum product size in each part by item were suggested. The method of suggesting the most optimum size suitability by item was decided based on the result of survey into corresponding title and product size by maker and that of survey into the size satisfaction degree of middle school girls by maker, and the product size of maker showing the highest size satisfaction degree was selected as the most optimum product size.
