Improvement of School Health program in Korea (학교보건사업(學校保健事業)의 효율화(效率化)를 위(爲)한 개선방안(改善方案)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This paper reviewed present status of school health program in Korea to seek. The improvement of health of school children. The results are summarized from reviewing publications of school health and survey data from trainees for principals of primary and middle school at Korea National University of Education during Jun. 17 to Aug. 13, 1987. The major recommandations for the improvement of school health program in Korea of this study are as follow: 1. Reformation of School Health Organization It is hard to activate effective school health program without reformation of school health organization in the Ministry of Education. School health section in MOE should be reorganized for the planning, operation and evaluation of school health program. School health committee in MOE and Provincial Board of Education should be established by the health and education professions. 2. Appointment of school physician and recruitment of school nurse: School health center in Office of City/Gun Education should be established for increasing the utilization of school physician, and school nurse should be appointed for 3 - 4 schools in same area. 3. Improvement of school health education: 1) Curricula of physical education of teachers College/University should be rearrangement for school health education. 2) Role of school nurse as a health educator in school should be extented. 3) In-service training for health education should be done for teachers of physical education. 4) Professional health teacher should be trained independently from physical education in College of Education and Teachers College. 4. Revision of school health law and regulations: Present school health law and regulations should be revised by the recommendations of experts on school health.

The Effects of Low Intensity Exercise Program with Telephone coaching on Physical Fitness and Physiological Index in the Elderly Women in Home Visiting Health Program (전화코칭을 동반한 저강도 운동프로그램이 방문건강관리 여성노인의 체력과 생리적 지표에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a low intensity exercise program with telephone coaching on the physical fitness and physiological index of elderly women who are receiving home visiting health program. Methods: This study was conducted using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 53 senior citizens. The subjects (15) in experimental group 1 performed only a low-intensity exercise program and the subjects (16) in experimental group 2 performed a low intensity exercise program with telephone coaching for 16 weeks. The low intensity exercise program consisted of muscle strength band exercise, stretching, and hand exercise using balls. Results: There were statistical differences in the right grip strength (p=.030), left grip strength (p=.035), raising behind of right arm (p=.046), raising behind of left arm (p=.045), postprandial blood sugar (p=.021), body mass index (p=.029). Conclusion: The low intensity exercise program with telephone coaching is recommended as a physical fitness and physiological index for elderly women in a home visiting health program.

Effects of Kinect-Based Mixed Reality Device on Physical Function and Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Survivors : A randomized controlled trial

  • Purpose : We aimed to evaluate the impact of a exercise with kinect-based mixed reality device (KMR) on physical function, upper extremity disability, fatigue, and quality of life in breast cancer survivors. We hypothesized that this exercise program would improve physical function, physical activity, fatigue, and quality of life. Methods : Thirty-nine breast cancer survivors were randomized to either the KMR exercise group (KE) or the home stretch group (HS). The KE participated in 8 weeks of exercise, exercising 3 times per week, while the HS performed 8 weeks of stretching exercises, also 3 times per week. Before and after the intervention period, participants underwent assessments of physical function, including body composition, chester step test (CST), and hand grip strength (HGS). Additionally, participants completed questionnaires including the international physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ), disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) questionnaire, and functional assessment of cancer therapy-breast (FACT-B) questionnaire to measure their physical activity levels, upper extremity disability, and quality of life, respectively. Results : Overall, significant improvements were observed in several shoulder movements, body weight, and physical activity, with no significant interaction effects between groups and time. Furthermore, there was a significant group by time interaction for body weight, left flexion, right flexion, right abduction, and left adduction, as well as for upper extremity disability (K-DASH) and quality of life (FACT-B). Conclusion : In conclusion, the KMR exercise program was found to be effective at improving physical function, upper extremity disability, quality of life, and overall well-being in breast cancer survivors. The significant improvements observed in multiple measures and the significant group by time interactions for various outcomes highlight the potential benefits of this KMR exercise program in promoting a better quality of life for breast cancer survivors.

  • It is important that architecture environment is recognized not physical space but an cultural property of the times. Accordingly, the movement to achieve the creative architecture culture that is to establish the cultural identity of the nation, to preserve a physical architecture environment in existence to utilize it has been tried for the promotion of the architecture culture. Especially, it is necessary to be accomplished a basic education to the architecture environment that is related closely with the national life for improving such the consideration. And, It is necessary to develop the educational program, the study method and the related teaching material etc. and to establish systematic implement plan at the same time so that the correct basic architecture education may work out. This study considers the importance and the meaning of the basic architecture education and examines the related overseas cases aiming at developing and activating the systematized education program. On the basis of these, I will make the frame of the basic architecture education that best suits our society is needed and try to find policy measures, then I will establish a firm foothold for pushing ahead the basic architecture education from now on.

Research of Data Collection for AI Education Using Physical Computing Tools (피지컬 교구를 이용한 인공지능 교육용 데이터 수집 연구)

  • Data is the core of AI technology. With the development of technology, AI technology is also accelerating as the amount of data increases explosively than before. However, compared to the interest in AI education, research on data education with AI is still insufficient. According to the case analysis of exsisting AI data education, there were cases of educating the process and part of data science, but it was hard to find studies related to data collection. Cause physical computing tools have a positive effect on AI education for elementary school students, data collection cases using tools were studied, but researches related to data collection were rare. Therefore, in this study, an efficient data collection method using physical tools was designed. A structural diagram of a data collection program was created using COBL S, a modular physical computing teaching tool, and examples of program screens from the service side and the user side were configured. This study has limitations in that the establishment of an AI education platform that can be used in conjunction with future program production and programs should be prioritized as a proposal in terms of design.

Effects of Regular Physical Activities on Young Children's Basic Motor Skills and Daily Stress (규칙적인 신체활동이 유아의 기본운동능력과 일상적 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of regular physical activity program on young children's basic motor skills and daily stress. The outdoor physical activity program was conducted with 40 participants who were divided into two groups(experimental group and control group) for 10 weeks twice a week. Results of the study were as following. The outdoor physical activity program improved young children's basic motor skills in the experiment group compared to the control group. Also it had positive effects on the reduction of daily stress in the experimental group compared to the control group. This result suggests that the physical activity program have positive effects on the development of young children's basic motor skills and the reduction of daily stress.

The Effects of a Follow-up Program on Physical, Emotional, and Social Function after Breast Cancer Surgery (유방암 수술환자의 추후관리 프로그램이 신체, 심리, 사회적 기능에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the effects of a follow-up program for breast cancer patients after surgery. Method: A quasi-experimental design was used. The subjects were 56 breast cancer patients (experimental group: 27, control group: 29). The subjects of the experimental group participated in the Follow-up program of 7 sessions once a week, during 4 weeks including one telephone visit. The program consisted of health education of breast cancer, exercise, lymph edema prevention, diet education, theraband rehabilitation exercise, laugh therapy, and breast self examination. The obtained data were analysed by using the ANCOVA of SPSS. Results: There was a significant difference in the scores of physical wellbeing, symptom distress and mood state between the two groups. Conclusion: Considering these research results, short-term intervention could improve physical and emotional functioning abilities by helping better health. Nurses should establish and manage a proper program to provide multipurpose support and it must apply the program after surgery as soon as possible for breast cancer women.

A Study on the Analysis of School Health Program by the Chronological Events in Korea (우리나라 학교보건사업(學校保健事業) 변천에 관(關)한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify and name clusters of school health program, and to describe some of the characteristics of administratie supports. The literature, materials and public documents were analysed by the chronological events from 1945 to 1989. The result of this study is as follows : 1. A brief summary of the history of school health program was included as an introduction to the analysis of the current programs of school health. Five current school health-program clusters were identified from findings of a study of programs : 1) physical assessment, laboratory examination and health services for the students, 2) health instruction 3) healthful living condition (environmental health), 4) health clinic management, 5) administrative supports. 2. The earliest school- based efforts focused on communicable disease pevention by the ministry of health and social affairs. Annual medical inspection (health assessment) for school children for eyes, ears, nose, and throat were mandated nation-wide in 1951 by physical assessment Act. 3. In 1979, the health instruction of schools to improve the health status of students was improved by health department in the Ministry of Education 4. Experiences in healthful environment were basic components of the school health program. However, without careful planning and supervision these experiences were not contributed to the goal of school health. The formal program of school health environment were initiated in 1979 5. In 1980, the guidelines of school health clinic management were prepared by Ministry of Education such as guidance of essential degrees and facilities in school health clinic. 6. Two patterns of administration of school health programs existed in Korea. In one the school health department operated its own health program and in the other the physical education department operated the health program within the school system. The school health department was established in Ministry of Education from 1979 to 1982. Improved school health programs will be a key element in the comprehensive national child health policy which I will ask the Ministry of Education to develop for the Department.

Development and Examination of the Online and Offline Educational Programs for Ankylosing Spondylitis Patients (강직성 척추염 환자의 오프라인 교육과 온라인 교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과 검증)

  • Ankylosing spondylitis(AS) is one of the most common forms of chronic arthritis causing pain and progressive disability. The purposes of this study were 1) to develop an offline educational program and online educational program for the patients with ankylosing spondylitis; and 2) to test the effectiveness of each program in terms of changes in ankylosing spondylitis self-efficacy, exercise continuity disease activity, physical functioning, and depression. The convenient samples for three groups were selected acceding to the inclusion criteria. Online education group consists of 7 patients, and 14 patients were included for the offline group, while 12 patients were assigned to the control group. Outcomes variables included self efficacy, exercise continuity, disease activity, physical function, and depression and the reliability of each measure was ranged from .88 to .95 in the present study. The offline educational program demonstrated positive effects on self-efficacy, exercise continuity, disease activity, and depression, whereas the online educational program on exercise continuity, disease activity, and depression. The self-efficacy was showed positive effect only in the offline educational program, whereas physical functioning did not improve in both intervention groups. These partial improvements may be due to the small sample size and the methods of online education program. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the offline and online educational programs was partially supported in the present study. For the improvement of these programs, the further study would be necessary to apply this kind of intervention program with larger sample and to test the psychometric of the newly development tools.

Development of Volleyball Match Analysis Program through Polygon Clipping Algorithm (다각형 클리핑 알고리즘(Polygon Clipping Algorithm)을 이용한 배구경기 분석 프로그램 개발)

  • The current study developed the analysis program by employing the Polygon Clipping Algorithm to calculate the open area on the court when players try to spike a ball. The program consists of two kinds of output screen. First, on the main output screen, it is possible to calculate both blocked area by net and blockers, and opened area to avoid the blocked area when players spike the ball. Additionally, the secondary output screen shows the moving path of setter and the location of set. Main output screen indicates hitting points of spiking, blocking, and open area. Also, it is possible to analyze the movement of setter, location of set, and hitting point of attacker. The program was tested by comparing real coordinate value and location coordinate value which is operated on the program. To apply this program in the field, future study needs to develop the program that can calculate three dimensions coordinate fast by tracking the location of players or ball in real time.
