An Application for Management of National Geodetic Control Points on the Web 2.0 (Web 2.0 기반 국가기준점 어플리케이션 설계)

  • As a surveying standard of a nation, the Korean geodetic control points such as triangulation points and benchmarks require continuous and effective management toward a spatially enabled society. As the developments of information technologies, use of mobile devices like PDA (personal digital assistant) has been increasing and the Web 2.0 environment became an important part of GIS. In this context, the management systems for national geodetic control points should be upgraded in accordance with the current trend, particularly for more interactive user-interface on the Web 2.0. This paper describes the framework design and prototype implementation of a Web 2.0 GIS application for the management of Korean geodetic control points. Our system enables a real-time update of the control point information and provides aerial photos on vector maps using Ajax(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) techniques.

Detection of Harmful Images Based on Color and Geometrical Features (색상과 기하학적인 특징 기반의 유해 영상 탐지)

  • Along with the development of high-speed, wired and wireless Internet technology, various harmful images in a form of photos and video clips have become prevalent these days. In this paper, we suggest a method of automatically detecting adult images by extracting woman's nipple areas which represent obscenity of the image. The suggested algorithm first segments skin color areas in the $YC_bC_r$ color space from input images and extracts nipple's candidate areas from the segmented skin areas through the suggested nipple map. We then select real nipple areas by using geometrical information and determines input images as harmful images if they contain nipples. Experimental results show that the suggested nipple map-based method effectively detects adult images.

  • There are three ways how to extract forensic evidence from mobile phone, such as SYN, JTAG, Revolving. However, it should be a different way to extract forensic evidence due to the differences of their usage and technology between them(mobile phone and smart phone). Therefore, in this paper, I will come up with extraction method that forensics evidence by search and seizure of a smart phone. This study aims to analyze specifications and O.S., backup analysis, evidence in smart to analyze for search and seizure of a smart phone commonly used google android and windows mobile smart phone. This study also aim to extract forensics evidence related to google android and phone book, SMS, photos, video of window mobile smart phone to make legal evidence and forensics report. It is expected that this study on smart phone forensics technology will contribute to developing mobile forensics technology.

A Study on the Application of Traditional Elements in Chinese Fashion Photography -Focused on Chenman's Photographs (중국 패션사진에 나타난 전통요소 활용에 관한 연구 -첸만(陳漫)의 사진을 중심으로-)

  • In recent years, a number of Chinese artists are interested in 'Chinese-style'. 'Chinese-style' can be understood as an art form in which Chinese elements are combined with modernized sensibilities. This paper analyzed how Chinese traditional elements can be effectively implemented in fashion photography, focusing on Chen Man, a leading fashion photographer in China. Our research shows that Chen Man looks to the traditions and history of China to inspire her modern work, which makes her unique as a Chinese fashion photographer. She tried not to repetitively express typical images of Chinese elements but to visualize the symbolic meaning of traditional elements as new images of modern China. Through this practice, she were able to effectively communicate the images of products and brands promoted in fashion photos. Furthermore, her works are being recognized by not only the fashion industry but also the international art elite as they contribute to building and promoting Chinese fashion identity. Research on Chen Man's work is significant in providing a new way for 'Chinese-style' fashion photographers to reinterpret Chinese traditional elements without following Chinese tradition.

Juncus fauriei Lév. & Vaniot (Juncaceae): a new record in Korea (검정납작골풀(골풀과): 한국 미기록 식물)

  • Distribution of Juncus fauriei L$\acute{e}$v. & Vaniot were restricted in Japan and Russia in previous literatures. We found its new distribution in the Korean peninsula: wet meadows of sandy seashore in Ha-Jo-Dae, Kangwon province. The plants have flattened stems (usually coiled) and black-colored margin in tepals. These are key characters to distinguish J. fauriei from J. decipiens, J. setchuensis, J. haenkei, and J. brachyspathus, which are closely related Korean taxa in the section Juncotypus. We provide description, distribution, and detailed photos of J. fauriei, and key for Korean taxa of sect. Juncotypus. The plant is named as "Geom-Jeong-Nap-Jak-Gol-Pul" in Korean.

  • Social network services (SNS) that help to build relationship network and share a particular interest or activity freely according to their interests by posting comments, photos, videos,${\ldots}$ on online communities such as blogs have adopted and developed widely as a social phenomenon. Several researches have been done to explore the pattern and valuable information in social networks data via text mining such as opinion mining and semantic analysis. For improving the efficiency of text mining, keyword-based approach have been applied but most of researchers argued the limitations of the rules of Korean orthography. This research aims to construct a database of non-standard Korean words which are difficulty in data mining such abbreviations, slangs, strange expressions, emoticons in order to improve the limitations in keyword-based text mining techniques. Based on the study of subjective opinions about specific topics on blogs, this research extracted non-standard words that were found useful in text mining process.

  • This research aims to suggest a gamified smart learning design for Korean EFL young learners' speaking proficiency. Gamification is the use of game-thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems. Thus, the gamified smart learning as gamification in education is designed not only to elicit students' participation but also to enhance speaking skills. Especially, this research based on the results of a pilot study is focused on easing the burden of homework as well as engaging the speaking English game for the primary students with a relatively short attention span. The game elements utilized in this study are competition, rewards, customized characterization and so on. Kakao Talk is selected for this gamified smart learning research because of its ease of accessibility, and multiple applicable functions for language learning such as voice recording, text messaging and sharing videos or photos. Gamification in smart learning can be a means of productive approach to contemporary EFL teaching and learning.

Robust Head Tracking using a Hybrid of Omega Shape Tracker and Face Detector for Robot Photographer (로봇 사진사를 위한 오메가 형상 추적기와 얼굴 검출기 융합을 이용한 강인한 머리 추적)

  • Finding a head of a person in a scene is very important for taking a well composed picture by a robot photographer because it depends on the position of the head. So in this paper, we propose a robust head tracking algorithm using a hybrid of an omega shape tracker and local binary pattern (LBP) AdaBoost face detector for the robot photographer to take a fine picture automatically. Face detection algorithms have good performance in terms of finding frontal faces, but it is not the same for rotated faces. In addition, when the face is occluded by a hat or hands, it has a hard time finding the face. In order to solve this problem, the omega shape tracker based on active shape model (ASM) is presented. The omega shape tracker is robust to occlusion and illuminationchange. However, whenthe environment is dynamic,such as when people move fast and when there is a complex background, its performance is unsatisfactory. Therefore, a method combining the face detection algorithm and the omega shape tracker by probabilistic method using histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) descriptor is proposed in this paper, in order to robustly find human head. A robot photographer was also implemented to abide by the 'rule of thirds' and to take photos when people smile.

  • North Korean youth is a youth aged 6 to 18 who lives in a South Korean society after having left North Korea. In this study, photo-in-education (PIE) provides North Korean youths with opportunities for cultural and arts education, and to help them adjust themselves to South Korean society. As a result, they, as young people who are exploring a new life in South Korea, have been able to express their own inner world through photos, videos, and writings. Also, young people have developed a bright and clear mind, and enhanced an expressive power and logical power that helps grow healthily and intelligently. Further, it is the aim of this education to help them to have a positive feeling for society and to do their best to become a healthy member of society, who will be able to contribute to society. Through PIE, it was found that North Korean defectors were able to see themselves positively and express their own inner self positively, despite that they are still in the negative and shady side of life.

Density Measurement for Continuous Flow Segment Using Two Point Detectors (두 개의 지점 검지기를 이용한 연속류 구간의 밀도측정 방안)

  • Density is the most important congestion indicator among the three fundamental flow variables, flow, speed and density. Measuring density in the field has two different ways, direct and indirect. Taking photos with wide views is one of direct ways, which is not widely used because of its cost and lacking of proper positions. Another direct density measuring method using two spot detectors has been introduced with the concept of instantaneous density, average density and measurement interval. The relationship between accuracy and measurement interval has been investigated using the simulation data produced by Paramics API function. Finally, density measurement algorithm has been suggested including exponential smoothing for device development.
