It is yet to be understood what controls the star formation activity in high-redshift galaxy clusters. One recently proposed mechanism is that the star formation activity in galaxy clusters are fed by gas and galaxies in large-scale structures surrounding them, which we call as "web feeding model". Using galaxies in the COSMOS2015 catalog, with mass completeness at log(M/M⦿)≥9.54 and reliable photometric redshift data (σΔz/(1+z) ≲ 0.01), we study the star formation activities of galaxy clusters and their surrounding environment to test the web feeding model. We first identify the overdense regions with number density exceeding the 4σ-level from photometric redshift data as galaxy clusters, and we find that they are well matched with clusters identified in the X-ray extended source catalog. Furthermore, we identify galaxy large scale structures, and will present the correlation or anti-correlation between quiescent galaxy fraction, an indicator of star-forming activity, and the prevalence of galaxy large scale structures.
The DEEP-South (the Deep Ecliptic Patrol of the Southern Sky) photometric census of small Solar System bodies produces massive time-series data of variable, transient or moving objects as a by-product. To fully investigate unexplored variable phenomena, we present an application of multi-aperture photometry and FastBit indexing techniques for faster access to a portion of the DEEP-South year-one data. Our new pipeline is designed to perform automated point source detection, robust high-precision photometry and calibration of non-crowded fields which have overlap with previously surveyed areas. In this paper, we show some examples of catalog-based variability searches to find new variable stars and to recover targeted asteroids. We discover 21 new periodic variables with period ranging between 0.1 and 31 days, including four eclipsing binary systems (detached, over-contact, and ellipsoidal variables), one white dwarf/M dwarf pair candidate, and rotating variable stars. We also recover astrometry (< ${\pm}1-2$ arcsec level accuracy) and photometry of two targeted near-earth asteroids, 2006 DZ169 and 1996 SK, along with the small- (~0.12 mag) and relatively large-amplitude (~0.5 mag) variations of their dominant rotational signals in R-band.
We present a UBVI and $H{\alpha}$ photometric study of the young open cluster NGC 1893 in the outer Galaxy as part of "Sejong Open cluster Survey (SOS)" project. Using the properties of early-type stars in the photometric diagrams 65 early-type members were selected. More than 120 $H{\alpha}$ emission stars and candidates were found by $H{\alpha}$ photometry. Together with the published young stellar object catalogue and X-ray source list for this cluster, a total of 837 pre-main sequence (PMS) stars were identified in our photometric data. We obtained the mean reddening of < E(B-V) > = $0.56{\pm}0.08$ mag from the (U-B, B-V) diagram and confirmed the normal reddening law ($R_V=3.1$) toward NGC 1893 based on color excess ratios from optical to mid-infrared wavelengths. The zero-age main sequence fitting to the reddening-corrected color-magnitude diagrams gives a distance modulus of $V_0-M_V=12.8{\pm}0.1$. The age of the cluster inferred from stellar evolution models is about 1-2 Myr. We also found the Salpeter/Kroupa type initial mass function for this cluster. Finally, the mass accretion rate of 80 PMS stars with UV excess emission was estimated for the stars with masses from $0.6M_{\odot}$ to $5M_{\odot}$.
The light curve and radial velocity curve of multiperiodic dwarf cepheid VI719 Cyg (HD200925) with peculiar light curve have been reanalyzed in order to identify the oscillation modes to confirm the helium settling within the envelope. To do these, through the period search for the photometric and radial velocity data from the literature, two different periods were determined and the oscillation modes corresponding to the first and second periods were identified as the fundamental and first radial overtones. Hence the helium settling within the envelope was confirmed from the period ratio. The color excess, metallicity, effective temperature, and surface gravity corresponding to two different modes were determined and it was found that these parameters almost do not depend upon different oscillation mode. By utilizing the surface brightness method, we investigated the variation of angular diameter and radial displacement and it was found that the angular variation is very peculiar. Also by referring to the stellar models, mass and age were determined as $2.7M_{\bigodot}$ and 0.42 Gyr respectively which make this variable star heavier and younger than other multimode dwarf cepheids. Preliminary spectroscopic CCD observations were carried out and it was found that Mg in VI719 Cygni is nearly solar abundent according to the analysis of $5172.68{\AA}MgI$ line which is inconsistent with the photometric result. It was suggested that VI719 Cyg may be classified as a $\rho$ Pup stars according to the photometric characteristics.
We present results of two-color VR photometry of the intermediate polar RXS J1803. The data were aquired using the Korean 1-m telescope located at Mt. Lemmon, USA. Different "high" and "low" luminosity states, similar to other intermediate polars, were discovered. No statistically significant variability of the color index with varying luminosity was detected. The orbital variability was found to be not statistically significant. Spin maxima timings were determined, as well as the photometric ephemeris for the time interval of our observations. The spin period variations, caused by interaction of the accretion structure with the rotating magnetic white dwarf, were also detected. These variations are of complicated character, and their study requires further observations. We determine the color transformation coefficients for our photometric systems, and improve on the secondary photometric standards.
We present here $UBVI$ and H${\alpha}$ photometric results of stellar sources in the bubble nebula NGC 7635. The early type members are selected from the photometric membership criteria. H${\alpha}$ photometry allows us to detect 11 pre-main sequence candidates with H${\alpha}$emission. In addition, we performed PSF photometry for the Spitzer IRAC and MIPS 24${\mu}m$ images from archive (program ID 20726, PI: J. Hester) in order to search for the young stellar objects (YSOs). Total 19 sources are classified as YSOs (7 class I, 11 class II, and 1 transitional disk candidates) in the color-color diagrams according to the classification scheme of Gutermuth et al.. Among them, 7 YSOs have counterparts in optical photometric data. These stars can be divided into two groups at given color indices. It implies that there occurred the star formation events more than twice. We would like to discuss the star formation history in the bubble nebula using the results from SED fitter (Robitaille et al.), color composite image from IRAC bands, and spatial distribution of early type stars and YSOs.

Supernovae (SNe) are well known as good cosmological distance probes owing to their brightness and well-characterized light curve property. Specifically, type Ia SNe have contributed greatly to our understanding of acceleration of cosmic expansion. However, type IIP supernovae occur most frequently (~ 40% of all) at low and high redshift. As knowledge on the type IIP SNe increases, distance measurement methods using type IIP SNe have evolved. In this study, we apply Photometric Color Method (PCM), which needs only photometric data using properties of plateau on type IIP SNe light curves, to measure distances of several host galaxies of SNe IIP from the Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies (IMSNG). The daily monitoring of galaxies at < 50 Mpc allows us to construct a dense light curve of SNe that occurred in our target galaxies. We observed two SNe IIP, SN2014cx and SN2017eaw and measured distances to their host galaxies, NGC 337 and NGC6946 respectively. Our results are comparable with other secondary distance measurement methods, 4-5 Mpc, however smaller than the result derived from the Tip of Red Giant Branch (TRGB) method, $6.7{\pm}0.2$ and $7.7{\pm}0.3Mpc$.
New high-resolution spectra and multi-band photometric data of BS Cas were obtained at the Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory in 2018 and at the Jincheon Station of the Chungbuk National University Observatory in 2011, respectively. We measured the radial velocities (RVs) for both components, and the effective temperature of the more massive star was determined to be $6262{\pm}56K$. In addition, historical light curves showed strong time-dependant light variations at the total eclipse. These variations were modeled by a cool spot on the more massive component. Finally, the physical parameters of BS Cas by a simultaneous analysis of our RV curves with the photometric light curves were presented. Individual masses and radii of both components were deduced as $M_1= 0.59{\pm}0.07M_{\odot}$, $M_2=1.47{\pm}0.15M_{\odot}$, $R_1=0.94{\pm}0.03R_{\odot}$ and $R_2=1.47{\pm}0.05R_{\odot}$.

Observation of standard stars is of crucial importance in stellar photometry. We have studied the standard transformation relations of the UBV RI CCD photometric system at the Maidanak Astronomical Observatory in Uzbekistan. All observations were made with the AZT-22 1.5m telescope, SITe 2k CCD or Fairchild 486 CCD, and standard Bessell UBV RI filters from 2003 August to 2007 September. We observed many standard stars around the celestial equator observed by SAAO astronomers. The atmospheric extinction coefficients, photometric zero points, and time variation of photometric zero points of each night were determined. Secondary extinction coefficients and photometric zero points were very stable, while primary extinction coefficients showed a distinct seasonal variation. We also determined the transformation coefficients for each filter. For B, V, R, and I filters, the transformation to the SAAO standard system could be achieved with a straight line or a combination of two straight lines. However, in the case of the U filter and Fairchild 486 CCD combination, a significant non-linear correction term - related to the size of Balmer jump or the strength of the Balmer lines - of up to 0:08 mags was required. We found that our data matched well the SAAO photometry in V, B - V, V - I, and R - I. But in U - B, the difference in zero point was about 3.6 mmag and the scatter was about 0.02 mag. We attribute the relatively large scatter in U -B to the larger error in U of the SAAO photometry. We confirm the mostly small differences between the SAAO standard UBV RI system and the Landolt standard system. We also attempted to interpret the seasonal variation of the atmospheric extinction coefficients in the context of scattering sources in the earth's atmosphere.
