  • The polyoxyethylene compounds were added into the photographic emulsion during the physical ripening of photo sensitive silver halide crystal in this emulsion. The polyoxyethylene compounds improved the photographic properties of the film to a great extent increasing the photo sensitivity and decreasing the fog density.

  • This article presents a study on the concept of "Photogenie", which refers to the duality and mentality of the photographic image, with the viewpoint regarding the photographic image by Edgar Morin. First, we will look at the evolution of the concept of "Photogenie". From the field of photography, the term "Photogenie" means objects that produce light, enough to impress the photographic plate. But theorists of cinema at the beginning of the 20th century have changed the meaning of the term. For Louis Delluc, the "Photogenie" means the effect of union between the reproduction of real and artistic genius. For Jean Epstein, the "Photogenie" means mental quality, nonmaterial or inderterminable, of the photographic and cinematographic image. But Morin synthesized the arguements of Delluc and Epstein. For him, the "Photogenie" indicates both a double character of the photographic image and its mental quality. Then, based on this concept of "Photogenie," Morin said on particular aspects in the photographic image. Considering photography as a double in the anthropological sense, it puts emphasis not only the dual nature of the photographic image but also mental and spiritual quality. Combining the theory of the mage Henri Bergson and Jean-Paul Sartre, he builds his own theory of the mage that concerns both photography and cinema. In short, to Morin, the photographic image is a place where coexist absence and presence, the real and the imaginary, perception and memory, the material and mental, as well that a place of mentality which appear all our memories, hallucinations, dreams, imagination etc.

  • In this paper, it was studied about the red-sensitive layer. UV-Vis data of the dye at monomeric and J-state were considered with respect to their performance(contrast, density and fog) in photographic emulsion. The sensitizing effect of the dye is found to be strongly structuredependent. Naphthothiazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as red-sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.

  • Up to the present information processing has been studied in the field of radar and electrical communication. However, recently photographic images have been sent and received a laser communication system. This paper is an attempt to discuss a method of information transmittance accomplished by holography. The results of experiment show that two-dimensional photographic images at the output appear with spots and when the degree of intensity of the images produced reach a frequency plane to move towards 40-60.mu., they show a finer effect.

  • In this paper, we describe a study on the relationship between photographic emulsion manufacture and hardening test of color paper. The hardener was prepared by the reaction of cyanuric chloride with sodium hydroxide, disodium hydrogenphosphate-12-water and trisodium phosphate-12-water in the presence of water. The hardener used in this study is a 2,4-dichloro-6-hydroxy-1,3,5-triazine mono sodium salt. The hardening test of photographic emulsion was studied respectively at pH 5.5, 7, 8.5 and about increasing temperature. Novel hardener can be used in photo-graphic emulsion of color paper and showed very good hardening effect.

  • In this paper, we describe a study on the relationship between photographic emulsion manufacture and hardening test of films. The hardeners were prepared by condensation of equimolar amounts of trichlorotriazine with benzene- or naphthalene-based amino or oxy acids at 0 to 5$^{\circ}C$ and at pH 7, and used as hardening agents for gelatin. The hardening test of photographic emulsion was studied at pH 5.5. For example I(R=ONa) had strong hardening properties, I substituted with an aminobenzosulfonate moiety (R=$NHC_6H_4-p-SO_3Me$ where Me = K, Na) was a much weaker gelatin hardener, and when substituted with amino- or oxynaphthalene derivative (II, III) did not harden gelatin at all. Compound with 2 dichlorotriazine groups as IV exhibited strong hardening properties. The hardener can be used in photographic emulsion of film and showed very good hardening effect.

  • We quantified the relationship of fluorescence depends upon the thickness of each absorber by the result of experiment which was practiced to know the relationship of x-ray absorption and photographic effect in the range of diganostic energy about water, acrylic resin, aluminium and copper. There was no great difference in the photographic effect between water and acryl because the absorption degree of the two was mostly equal. But in case of aluminium and copper, it was opposite from the prior. Therefore when we considered the photographic effect in the range of diagnostic energy, it was thought that water and acryl were proper as a absorbers, but not only copper but also aluminium was improper as a absorber.

  • A laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the treatment of photographic processing wastewater by chemical oxidation and biological treatment system. The effect of reaction conditions such as hydrogen peroxide dosage, ferrous sulfate dosage and pH on the COD removal in Fenton oxidation were investigated. The optimal dosage of hydrogen peroxide was 2.58 M and 3.87 M for the developing and fixing process wastewater, respectively. The Fenton oxidation was most efficient in the pH range of 3-5 and the optimal condition for initial reaction pH was 5 for a developing process wastewater. With iron powder catalyst, the COD for a developing process wastewater was removed in lower pH than with ferrous sulfate catalyst. The removal efficiency of COD for refractory compounds such as Diethyleneglycol, Benzylalcohol, Hydroxylamine Sulfate, Ammonium Thiosulfate, Ammonium Ferric EDTA and Disodium EDTA in the photogaphic wastewater was found than 90% except Potassium Carbonate. When the photographic processing wastewater after pretreatment by Fenton oxidation was treated with batch activated sludge process, the addition of $KH_2PO_4$ as a phosphorous compound improved the removal efficiency of COD. During the continuous biological treatment of developing and fixing process wastewater after pretreatment by Fenton oxidation, the effluent COD concentration less than 100 mg/l was obtained at 0.425 and 0.25 kgCOD/m$^3$.d, respectively.
