A heterogeneous $Bi_2S_3/TiO_2$ composite catalyst was synthesized via a green ultrasonic-assisted method and characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX, TEM analysis. The results clearly show that the $TiO_2$ particles were homogenously coated with $Bi_2S_3$ particles, indicating that $Bi_2S_3$ particle agglomeration was effectively inhibited after the introduction of anatase $TiO_2$. The Texbrite BA-L (TBA) degradation rate constant for $Bi_2S_3/TiO_2$ composites reached $8.27{\times}10^{-3}min^{-1}$ under visible light, much higher than the corresponding value of $1.04{\times}10^{-3}min^{-1}$ for $TiO_2$. The quantities of generated hydroxyl radicals can be analyzed by DPCI degradation, which shows that under visible light irradiation, more electron-hole pairs can be generated. Finally, the possible mechanism for the generation of reactive oxygen species under visible-light irradiation was proposed as well. Our result shows the significant potential of $Bi_2S_3$-semiconductor-based $TiO_2$ hybrid materials as catalysts under visible light for the degradation of industry dye effluent substances.
A series of Ce-doped ZnO (Ce/ZnO) nanostructures were fabricated using the co-precipitation method, then a simply nontoxic hydrothermal approach was proposed for preparation of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-Ce/ZnO composites. The synthesized composites were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) techniques and Raman pattern. The as-synthesized rGO-Ce/ZnO composites showed high photodecomposition efficiency in comparison with the rGO-ZnO, Ce/ZnO, pure ZnO under UV, visible-light and sunlight irradiation. The degradation of methylene blue (MB) (10 mg/L, 100ml) by 95.8% within 60 min by using rGO-2 (10 mg) under sunlight irradiation was observed. The repeated use of the rGO-2 was investigated, and the results showed almost no decay in the catalytic activity.

The Photocatalytic decolorization and degradation of commercial dyes were studied using a batch reactor. Degussa P25 titanium dioxide and $H_2O_2$ were used as the photocatalyst and proved to be effective for dyes degradation when they were irradiated with UV light. The light source was a 20W low pressure mercury lamp. Three different kinds of dyes, such as direct dye(congo red), acid dye (acid black) and disperse dye(disperse blue) were tested. Extending the UV only treatment up to 120min, direct dye was decolorized to 60% and degraded to 30% as COD. On the other side, acid and disperse dyes were eliminated less than 10% as color and COD. But, color and COD were eliminated about 90% for all of the three dyes by $UV/H_2O_2$ system. And then the most effective decolorization was done for direct dye with 96% removal efficiency by $UV/TiO_2$ system at 120min with 500mg/L of $TiO_2$.
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells can convert solar energy, the largest potential source of renewable energy, into hydrogen fuel which can be stored, transported, and used on demand. In terms of cost competitiveness compared with fossil fuels, however, both photocatalytic efficiency and cost-effectiveness must be achieved simultaneously. Improvement of cost-effective, scalable, versatile, and eco-friendly fabrication methods has emerged as an urgent mission for PEC cells, and solution-based fabrication methods could be capable of meeting these demands. Herein, we review recent challenges for various nanostructured oxide photoelectrodes fabricated by solution-based processes. Hematite, tungsten oxide, bismuth vanadate, titanium oxide, and copper oxides are the main oxides focused on, and various strategies have been attempted with respect to these photocatalyst materials. The effects of nanostructuring, heterojunctions, and co-catalyst loading on the surface are discussed. Our review introduces notable solution-based processes for water splitting photoelectrodes and gives an outlook on eco-friendly and cost-effective approaches to solar fuel generation and innovative artificial photosynthesis technologies.

Au doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticles have been synthesized using a reverse micelle technique combined with metal alkoxide hydrolysis and condensation. Au doped $TiO_2$ was coated with glass substrate. The size of the particles and thickness of the coating can be controlled by manipulating the relative rates of the hydrolysis and condensation reaction of TTIP within the micro-emulsion. The average size of synthesized Au doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticle was about in the size range of 15 to 25 nm and the Au particles formed mainly the range of 2 to 10 nm in diameter. The effect of synthesis parameters, such as the molar ratio of water to TTIP and the molar ratio of water to surfactant, are discussed. The synthesized nanopaticles were coated on glass substrate by a spin coating process. The thickness of thin film was about 80 nm. The degradation of MB on a $TiO_2$ thin film was enhanced over 20 % efficiency by the incorporation of Au.

Dye-sensitized Solar Cell (DSC) is a new type of solar cell by using photocatalytic properties of $TiO_2$. The electric potential distribution in DSCs has played a major role in the operation of such cells. $TiO_2$ thin films were deposited on the ITO substrate by Nd:YAG Pulsed Laser Deposition(PLD) at room temperature and post-deposition annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ in flowing $O_2$ atmosphere for 1hour. The structural properties of $TiO_2$ thin films have investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD). We manufactured DSC unit cells then I-V and efficiency were tested by solar simulator.
The photocatalysts of Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ compositeswere prepared by the sol-gel method and characterized by BET, XRD, SEM, and EDX. It showed that the BET surface area was related to adsorption capacity for each composite. The SEM results showed that ferric compound and titanium dioxide were distributed on the surfaces of ACF. The XRD results showed that Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ composite only contained an anatase structure with a Fe mediated compound. EDX results showed the presence of C, O, and Ti with Fe peaks in Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ composites. From the photocataytic degradation effect, $TiO_2$ on activated carbon fiber surface modified with Fe (Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$) could work in the photo-Fenton process. It was revealed that the photo-Fenton reaction gives considerable photocatalytic ability for the decomposition of methylene blue (MB) compared to non-treated ACF/$TiO_2$, and the photo-Fenton reaction was improved by the addition of $H_2O_2$. It was proved that the decomposition of MB under UV (365 nm) irradiation in the presence of $H_2O_2$ predominantly accelerated the oxidation of $Fe^{2+}$ to $Fe^{3+}$ and produced a high concentration of OH radicals.
The effects of $TiO_2$ contents and UV irradiation treatment on the surface properties of PLA films embedded with $TiO_2$ nanoparticle were investigated. Whereas UV irradiation decreased reflectance of the treated PLA films proportionally with increasing UV energy, the reflectance of PLA/$TiO_2$ films increased with increasing UV energy. The UV irradiation treatment caused PLA/$TiO_2$ blend films more polar as indicated in the generation of new carbonyl group and decrease in zeta potentials, which was more pronounced with the introduction of $TiO_2$. Upon UV irradiation, $TiO_2$ particles appeared on the film surface as observed in SEM images. The PLA/$TiO_2$ blend films showed photocatalytic properties such as photobleaching of methylene blue, deodorization of ammonia and antimicrobial activity in comparison with pure PLA films.
In order to reuse the photocatalyst and enhance the photolysis efficiency, we have used atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (APDBD) to clean and activate $TiO_2$ powder. The photocatalytic activity of the $TiO_2$ powder before and after APDBD treatment was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. The apparent reaction rate constant of photolysis of the first sample of reused $TiO_2$ cleaned by APDBD improved to a level up to 0.32h-1 higher than the 30 % value of the initial $TiO_2$ powder. As the number of photolysis reactions and APDBD cleanings increased, the apparent rate constants gradually decreased; however, the fourth photolysis reaction still showed a value that was greater than 10% of the initial value. In addition, APDBD treatment enhanced the process by which $TiO_2$ effectively adsorbed MB at every photolysis stage.
The use of photo-catalytic processes in pollution abatement and resource has a significant economic importance. Therefore, the applications of photochemical oxidation of secondary effluent driven by UV, TiO2, TiO2/UV, H2O2/UV and TiO2/H2O2/UV, have been investigated in order to treat the secondary effluent from municipal sewage. Various experimental parameters such as BOD, CODcr, Nurbidity, total P, and SPC were examined in each photo-catalytic reaction system. The results showed that the application of single oxidant such as UV, TiO2 only has a minor effect on parameters reduction (CODcr, BOD, etc) to treat the secondary effluent, whereas the combinations of oxidants increase the removal efficiency. The best removal efficiency in every parameters was achieved by the combination of TiO2, H2O2 and UV. It was also found that the optimum amount of TiO2 for the treatment was 1g/ι to achieve water reuse standard. From the results, the photocatalytic reaction system can be an alternative as a post-treatment to treat the secondary effluent from municipal sewage.
