  • The development of LD(Laser Diode) tester and its control system based on the graphical programming language(LabVIEW) is addressed. The ill tester is used to check the optic power and the optic spectrum of the LD Chip. The emitter size of LD chip and the diameter of the Detector(optic fiber and photo diode) are very small, therefore the test device needs high accuracy. But each motion part of the test device could not accomplish high accuracy due to the limit of the mechanical performance. So, an image processing with machine vision is proposed to compensate for the error. By adopting our method we can reduce the error of position within $\pm$5$\mu\textrm{m}$.

Cultivation of Chlorella sp. under Different Aeration Conditions Illuminated by Light Emitting Diode (LED 조명을 이용한 광생물 반응기에서 공기 주입량에 따른 클로렐라 성장 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine optimum value of aeration rate for the cultivation of Chlorella sp. under illumination of red light emitting diode. The aeration rates varied from 0 to 2.4 vvm under the illumination of 4,400 lux of red light emitting diode. The highest specific growth rate of $1.51\;day^{-1}$ was obtained at the aeration of 0.7 vvm and lower specific growth rates were obtained for other aeration tests. Furthermore, the highest biomass concentration (1.02 g/L) was also obtained at the aeration of 0.7 vvm. Therefore, aeration of 0.7 vvm was determined to be the optimum aeration rate for the cultivation of Chlorella sp. under red light emitting diode.

  • In this paper, a new design technique on the LRF which is useful for low power laser and a CBDA(Cummulative Binary Detection Algorithm) is proposed. The LD(Laser Diode) and Si-APD(Silicon Avalanche Photo Diode) are used for saving a power. In order to prove the detection range, the Si-APD binary data are accumulated before the range computation and the range finding algorithm. A prototype of the proposed DLRF(Diode Laser Range Finder) system was made and tested. An experimental result shows that the DLRF system have the same detection range using a less power(almost 1/32) than an usual military LRF. The proposed DLRF can be applied to the Unmanned Vehicles, Robot and Future Combat System of a tiny size and a low power LRF.

  • In this paper, the optical pick-up used for general audio/video players having more market share than the others is designed with 4-wire suspension type actuator and the hologram laser diode which laser diode, photo diode, beam splitter, and grating lens are integrated in. This optical pick-up is designed in very simple optical system with the characteristics of hologram laser diode. Thus, it has high productivity, the number of the parts is reduced, and also the shape of the assembling parts becomes simple.

  • Additional neutral particle analyzer has been installed to investigate the variation of fast ion tails with regard to the line of sight during 2012 KSTAR campaign. The system has the same photo-diode particle detector as previous system [1]. Both newly installed system and previous system modifield for 2012 campaign have two channels. One has a particle stopper transparent to hard X-ray, the other has no one. It will be used to separate the hard X-ray component from total hard X-ray and fast neutral counts. It is expected to measure fast ion tails more clearly through this extended system. A detailed system and calibration result will be presented in the conference.

  • The objectives of this study are to examine the variation of flame chemiluminescence on flame condition and to evaluate the possibility to apply the optical sensor for air/fuel ratio control. Flame chemiluminescence is one of the most important factor to judge the real time flame condition like a air/fuel ratio. In this paper, it is experimentally found that a strong relationship between the air/fuel ratio and optical element output (i.e., photo diode) should be existed. This is verified through the flame spectral analysis for various PD output signal.

  • Laser claddmg 1s thc deposition of material on the surface of a part or workpiece. Cladding of metals produces a 100% dense metallurgically-bonded coating with minimal dilution for enhanced corrosion, abrasion and wear resistance. Despite of minimal heat Input and reduced processing time, cladding quality 1s affected by various process condition such as laser power and feed rate. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the momtoring and control methods of laser cladding process for the best cladding quality. In this paper, laser cladding monitoring system using CCD camera for measuring cladding pool shape, and photo-diode sensor for detecting optical signal emitted from the cladding front is introduced The variables extracted using this system can be apphed to control the laser cladding system to achieve the best claddmg results..

  • This study is aiming to establish the relationship between the optical signal of flame through an optical fiber and the equivalent ratio of flame. In this experiment, flame optical signal in a furnace is measured using photodiode. The combustion system is composed of 15W turbulent burner and industrial boiler, and flame chemiluminescence is measured at various experimental conditions. In this study, the flame chemiluminescence of turbulent premixed flame is measured using commercially available photodiode. It is experimentally investigated the relationship between equivalent ratio and photodiode signal.

  • In this paper, we make silicon photodiodes for the detection of pulsed radiation that affects electronics devices and study the output characteristics of photodiodes using circuit design. We conducted the simulation for pulse sensing circuit and experimented the photodiode output characteristics using a high luminance light emitting diode. The results can be used for the design of the input sensor that is trigger of additional module for protecting a electoronics circuit from high energy pulse radiation.

  • Color is discerned due to the reflectance of object and its hue is determined by the Ratio of RGB spectrum. The aim of this study is to evaluate the Color information using by the optical system in terms of convenience and simplicity. Firstly, the differential Ratio of RGB is evaluated by photodiode Sensor which achieves a high efficiency with quick tranducer output. To extract the information of RGB Ratio, light emitting diode is built in Color sensing system with photodiode. Our proposed method is very economical, simple, and convenient. Our results can be applied to confirm the accurate information of Color in the research environments and commercial purposes. Thus RGB information can be determined subjectively and thus, the inherent characteristic of Color will be revealed precisely and its related features can be resolved in a real time mode.
