피부미용 관련 천연 자외선 차단 소재 연구동향 분석 (A Study on the Trends of the Natural UV Protection Materials Related to Skin Beauty)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 천연 소재를 이용한 자외선 차단 제품 개발의 기초 자료로 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 방법은 피부미용 관련 자외선 차단제의 국내외 산업 현황과 천연 소재 연구 동향, 그리고 특허 현황을 조사하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 자외선 차단제는 미국 시장이 전 세계의 약 21%를 차지하는 가장 큰 시장이며 중국 시장이 급격하게 성장하고 있다. 기능성 화장품 주요 4종의 국내 생산실적 1위는 복합기능제품이며, 주름개선과 자외선 차단제, 미백의 순으로 나타났으며 세계시장 및 국내시장 모두 지속적으로 성장하고 있다. 최근 10년간 천연 자외선 차단 소재 연구동향을 조사하여 분석한 결과 황금, 홉, 감초, 핑거루트, 녹차, 야관문 추출물 등이 효능이 있으며 그 이외에도 광노화, 항산화, 항염, 항균, 미백, 주름개선 등의 효능도 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특허 등록 현황은 건수가 증가하는 추세이며 식물이나 해조류에서 성분을 확보하고 있었다. 본 연구의 결론은 향후 세계적 트렌드에 맞춰 안전하고 효능이 증명된 천연 자외선 차단 소재들을 개발해 간다면 다기능 천연 기능성 화장품 소재로 충분히 활용 가능할 것으로 전망된다.

고결정성을 갖는 이산화티탄 나노 졸의 합성 및 특성 (Synthesis and Property of Titanium Dioxide Nanosol with a High Crystalline Characteristics)

  • 최근에 이산화티탄 분말을 나노입자로 제조하거나 결정성을 향상하기 위해 1차원 구조인 nanowire, nanotube, 3차원 구조인 mesoporous 구형으로 생산하여 차단율과 반사율을 통한 광 전극 소재로의 활용과 피부 광 노화 방지에 더욱 효율적으로 적용할 수 있는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 n-alcohol을 용매로 사용하여 높은 결정성을 갖는 이산화티탄 나노 졸을 합성하였다. 합성된 이산화티탄 나노 졸은 FE-SEM과 XRD을 통해 결정성을 확인하였고, 자외선 차단율을 확인하기 위해서 UV-Vis로 투과율을 확인했다. 또한. 용매에 따른 결정성을 확인하기 위하여 부탄올, 프로판올, 에탄올을 이용하여 각각을 제조하였고, 용매에 따른 차이를 비교하였다. 입자크기는 200~250 nm로 합성되었으며 광학적 투과율은 UVB, UVA 범위에서 높은 차단율을 보이고, 550 nm 파장에서 높은 투과율을 보여 태양전지의 광전 변환 효율 향상과 소량 사용으로도 제품의 자외선 차단 효율을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Hairless mouse에서 홍삼 . 교맥 복합물의 피부주름 생성 예방 효과 (Prevention of Photoaging and Wrinkle Formation in Hairless Mice by Korean Red Gnseng and Fagopyrum Esculentum Extract Mixture)

  • UV irradiation causes skin-aging involving coarse wrinkles, thickening, dyspigmentation, and rough skin surface. This study was carried out to develop health & functional food by using Korean red ginsneg and Fagopyrum esculentum extract mixture (RGFE) for prevention of skin wrinkles. The RGFE-treated group showed the more effective collagenase inhibition rate than the red ginseng (RG)-treated group. To investigate photo protective effects of RGFE on UV-induced damaged skin, SKH hairless male mice were orally administerd RGFE and regional treatment and irradiated with UV for up to 8 weeks. In RGFE-treated group, better skin, and less wrinkle formation were observed compared with UV group. Epidermal thickness of hairless mouse was significantly decreased in RGFE, RG, and Fagopyrum esculentum (FE) groups compared with UV group. These results demonstrate RGFE have photo-protective effects on UV-damaged hairless mouse skin.

Effects of Porcine Placenta Extract Ingestion on Ultraviolet B-induced Skin Damage in Hairless Mice

  • The aim of our study was to evaluate the potential benefits of an oral supplement containing porcine placenta extract (PPE) on skin parameters related to cutaneous physiology and aging. PPEs were administered orally to hairless mice for 12 wk. The effects of oral PPE administration on skin water-holding capacity and Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) were similar to those of oral collagen (HYCPU2) administered as a positive control. Magnified photographs and replica images showed a reduction in UVB-induced wrinkle formation after collagen and PPE treatments. PPE treatments ameliorated the thicker skin surface that results from UVB exposure, based on a histological examination of skin tissue. The groups that were orally administered PPE (0.05%, OL; 0.1%, OH group) showed significantly reduced Matrix Metaloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) mRNA expression levels compared with the UVB control (Con), by 33.5% and 35.2%, respectively. The mRNA expression of another collagen-degrading protein, MMP-9, was also significantly lower in the groups that received oral administration of PPE (especially in the OH group) than in the control group. Additionally, oral administration of PPE significantly upregulated tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) and -2 mRNA expression levels compared with expression levels in the control group (p<0.05). This indicates that orally administered PPE activated the expression of Timp-1 and -2, inhibitors of MMP, which is responsible for collagen degradation in skin. Taken together, we propose that long-term oral administration of PPE might have a beneficial effect with respect to skin photo-aging.

  • 피부노화는 피부의 이상현상이나 질환은 아니며 나이가 들어감에 따라 시간의 진행에 따라 일어나는 퇴행성 변화로 외적형태의 변화로는 피부 건조 및 주름 등이 있다. 주름을 생성하는 원인에는 자외선, 건조 및 물리적, 화학적 자극 등 환경요인에 기인하는 피부 스트레스와 각질층의 수분량 저하, 비후화, 진피의 교원섬유, 탄력섬유의 양적, 질적 변화 등이 유발하는 피부의 탄력성이나 신축성의 저하를 들 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Angelim dahurica root에서 얻어진 3종의 주름개선 유효성분의 구조분석 및 피부 노화에 대한 효과를 살펴보았다.

황기의 자외선에 의한 세포 손상을 막는 보호 효과 (The Protective Effects of Astragali Radix Against UV Induced Cellular Damage in Human Keratinocytes)

  • The root of Astragalus membranaceus Bunge (Leguminosae) has been used in the Korean oriental medicine for strengthening the vital energy. UV irradiation has been suggested as a major cause of photo aging in skin. In order to investigate protective effects against UV induced cellular damage, Astragali Radix was extracted with 70% ethanol and dissolved in DMSO. The protective effect was detected by MTT assay, LDH assay, and Comet assay in immortalized human keratinocyte cell line, HaCaT cell system after UV irradiation. Astragli Radix 70% EtOH extract reduced UV induced cellular damage in cell survival, membrane integrity and DNA damage.

Anti-Photoaging Effects of Angelica acutiloba Root Ethanol Extract in Human Dermal Fibroblasts

  • The effects that ultraviolet rays elicit on collagen synthesis and degradation are the most common causes of wrinkle formation and photo-aging in skin. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of Angelica acutiloba root ethanol extract (AAEE) to promote collagen synthesis and inhibit collagen degradation in human dermal fibroblasts. By examining total polyphenol and flavonoid contents, electron donating ability, radical scavenging activity, and superoxide dismutase-like activity, we found that AAEE exhibited fairly good antioxidant activity. Treatment with AAEE significantly increased type I procollagen production by cultured fibroblasts, as well as reduced ultraviolet-induced matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) expression and MMP-2 activity in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.05). In addition, AAEE significantly increased TIMP-1 mRNA expression (p < 0.05), although without an associated dose-dependent increase in TIMP-1 protein expression. In summary, we suggest that AAEE may be a potentially effective agent for the prevention or alleviation of skin-wrinkle formation induced by ultraviolet rays.

디지틀 카메라를 이용한 치아색상 측정 (NEW EVALUATION TECHNIQUE IN TEETH COLOR USING DIGITAL CAMERA)

  • In addition to their function, there is growing interest in esthetics of restorations for teeth from fracture and loss. Because the perception of color depends on a lot of factors such as light source, object, observer and so on. It is difficult to make an objective expression. Therefore the using of mechanical equipment is recommended to exclude these variables and observer's vias. This study was carried out to evaluate the teeth color with a newly developed digital camera and to suggest a way to solve its flaws. After photo-taking and storaging the images of normal teeth into a computer, color spaces were examined with an image analysis system, Adobe Photoshop 3.04 and a statistical significance was determined between groups in term of teeth positions and ages. Results were as follow ; 1. Central incisor looked darker than lateral incisor(p<0.05), but lateral incisor and canine showed a similar lightness. 2. Central incisor showed more greenish color than lateral incisor and canine(p<0.05). 3. Canine showed higher yellowish value than central and lateral incisors(p<0.05). 4. Central incisor and canine showed no difference with aging. But in lateral incisor, teeth in fifth decade were lighter than those of third(p<0.05) and teeth in third decade were more reddish and yellowish than those of fourth decade(p<0.05).

An Iterative Normalization Algorithm for cDNA Microarray Medical Data Analysis

  • A cDNA microarray experiment is one of the most useful high-throughput experiments in medical informatics for monitoring gene expression levels. Statistical analysis with a cDNA microarray medical data requires a normalization procedure to reduce the systematic errors that are impossible to control by the experimental conditions. Despite the variety of normalization methods, this. paper suggests a more general and synthetic normalization algorithm with a control gene set based on previous studies of normalization. Iterative normalization method was used to select and include a new control gene set among the whole genes iteratively at every step of the normalization calculation initiated with the housekeeping genes. The objective of this iterative normalization was to maintain the pattern of the original data and to keep the gene expression levels stable. Spatial plots, M&A (ratio and average values of the intensity) plots and box plots showed a convergence to zero of the mean across all genes graphically after applying our iterative normalization. The practicability of the algorithm was demonstrated by applying our method to the data for the human photo aging study.

금속 할라이드 페로브스카이트 나노와이어의 광 센서 소자 응용 (Alignment of Metal Halide Perovskite Nanowires and Their Application in Photodetectors)

  • Metal halide perovskite (MHP) nanocrystals (NCs) have emerged as promising materials for various optoelectronic applications including photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, and photodetectors because of their high absorption coefficient, high diffusion length, and photoluminescence quantum yield. However, understanding the morphological evolution of the MHP NCs as well as their controlled assembly into optoelectronic devices is still challenging and will require further investigation of the colloidal chemistry. In this study, we found that the amount of n-octylamine (the capping agent) plays a crucial role in inducing further growth of the MHP NCs into one-dimensional nanowires during the aging process. In addition, we demonstrate that the dielectrophoresis process can permit self-alignment of the MHP nanowires with uniform distribution and orientation on interdigitated electrodes. A strong light-matter interaction in the MHP NWs array was observed under UV illumination, indicating the photo-induced activation of their luminescence and electrical current in the self-aligned MHP nanowire arrays.
