터치폰 감성 프로토타입 개발 사례

  • 본 제품 개발 사례는 날로 사용자가 증가되는 Touch Phone의 감성 디자인을 위한 선행 감성 평가 프로토타입으로 활용하고자 하였다. 본 감성 프로토타입은 Touch Phone에 근접한 형태로 디자인 했으며, 기본적인 평가에 필요한 프로그램을 개발하여 적용하였다. 특히, 본 감성 프로토타입은 다양한 Touch Phone의 GUI 및 Graphic Motion에 대한 감성에 대한 평가를 PC환경에서 수행할 수 있도록 Dual Monitor 환경으로 개발하였으며, 차세대 Touch Phone UI의 화두인 Multi-Touch를 위한 10개의Multi-Touch가 가능한 터치패널을 적용하였다. 이에 본 개발 사례를 활용 함으로써, Touch Phone의 다양한 감성적인 Motion 알고리즘 및 연구 및 평가검증이 PC환경에서 Touch Phone과 동일한 사용환경으로 평가하고 실험할 수 있는 환경의 구축이 가능하다.

  • In mobile phone, complex user interface tend to cause the degradation of product usability. This problem is mainly due to the small hardware user interface of mobile phone. That is, because many functions must be operated in small hardware interface, the principle of one-to-one mapping between a function and a control is disregarded in design, often. In order to resolve this problem, users' characteristics must be considered in the user interface design of mobile phone. So, users' basic characteristics that must be considered in the user interface design of mobile phone were studied through two experiments, questionnaire survey and user testing.

  • In this Study, as the structure of IT module for smart phone display becomes thin to catch up with slim product trend, the reliability of display module is on the rise as a issue for product design. Especially, almost part of cellular phone should undergo thermal dissipation test. thus many manufacturers have considered design guide line using CAE and simulation for more effective usage of limited resources on the market. This test simulates the case when cellular phone slips through user's fingers while he is talking on the phone. This paper studies a thermal simulation of display module in smart phone. This design for reliability improvements are suggested on the basis of the results of FVM Analysis and display of IT module and smart phone design.

  • Recently, the number of input method by Smart-Phone increasing in handheld digital product released. According to the development of telecommunication speed of middle carrier, demand for the multimedia contents is high so, it demands that the display of smart-phone shall be large. It is expected that the market share of smart-phone will be constantly getting bigger. For the robust changes, related study is not done too much for smart-phone. As the market of smart-phone, it is expected that the necessity of relevant study is salient issue.

Automatic Synthesis Method Using Prosody-Rich Database (대용량 운율 음성데이타를 이용한 자동합성방식)

  • In general, the synthesis unit database was constructed by recording isolated word. In that case, each boundary of word has typical prosodic pattern like a falling intonation or preboundary lengthening. To get natural synthetic speech using these kinds of database, we must artificially distort original speech. However, that artificial process rather resulted in unnatural, unintelligible synthetic speech due to the excessive prosodic modification on speech signal. To overcome these problems, we gathered thousands of sentences for synthesis database. To make a phone level synthesis unit, we trained speech recognizer with the recorded speech, and then segmented phone boundaries automatically. In addition, we used laryngo graph for the epoch detection. From the automatically generated synthesis database, we chose the best phone and directly concatenated it without any prosody processing. To select the best phone among multiple phone candidates, we used prosodic information such as break strength of word boundaries, phonetic contexts, cepstrum, pitch, energy, and phone duration. From the pilot test, we obtained some positive results.

Development of a Collapse-sensing Phone and Collapse Recognition Algorithm (낙상 감지 폰의 개발과 낙상판단 알고리즘)

  • To deal with the emergency of the solitary aged people, we have developed a collapse-sensing phone, in which a collapse sensor, a GPS receiving chipset and a CDMA sending chipset are included. The general cellular phone is somewhat expensive communication device using sound and characters, but the collapse-sensing phone is a cheaper and popular version. If the collapse sensor recognizes a certain of collapse of the aged people, CDMA sending chipset will send the location of the phone which is received from satellite by GPS receiving chipset. In this paper, a collapse recognition algorithm which is developed by using much experimental data, will be introduced to explain how to recognize the real collapse from fast sitting or immediate standing after collapse. Once a true collapse is ecognized, the phone-ID and the coordinate will be sent to the server of administrative office via CDMA network. And the position of emergency will be displayed on the GIS with the rescue center.

The Impact of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Esteem on Internet and Smart Phone Addiction, Sports Activities, and Reading of Youth

  • In the rapid industrialization and civilization, the material and the life have been enriched, but smart phone and the Internet are spreading and the spirit of Korean modern people is falling into addiction without knowing themselves. In particular, according to the recent Internet addiction reported by the National Statistical Office, "the Internet addiction rate in 2014 is the highest among adolescents to 19 years old." This study empirically analyzed whether internet addiction, smart phone addiction, sports activities and reading affect adolescents' emotional intelligence and self-esteem. Regression analysis showed that internet addiction, smart phone addiction and sports activities affected emotional intelligence and reading did not affect. Also, internet addiction, smart phone addiction and sports activities were found to affect self-esteem and reading did not affect. Reading and emotional intelligence, reading and self-esteem seem to require further study in the future.

It Matters Where and With Whom You Are: A Comparison of Mobile Phone and Landline Phone Survey Interviews

  • The rise and fall of social research methods rely on how much a certain method is able to appropriately reflect the change of society. The present research proposes new mobile surveying methods, considering the current and future trends in Korea. In particular, this research focuses on environmental pressure (time constraints, the presence of others and the place) as one of the major factors influencing the effects of survey modes. For example, landline surveys are conducted in the respondent's home, which is a private and fixed space. On the other hand, surveys on mobile phones can be conducted in diverse places with other people around. After sampling 500 landline respondents and 500 mobile phone respondents using a quota method, the same questionnaire was used for both the mobile and landline interviews. The findings are generally consistent with the literature supporting the data quality and comparability of the mixed mode survey. These results are encouraging for researchers designing surveys that feature mobile phone data collection.

  • Design structure of a mobile phone has been changed to a converged style, which has so many functions. However, the converged mobile phone could not satisfy the users who want to use only specific functions, so with Axiomatic Design, we have studied for making a proposal to set up the new concept. The goal of this study is to derive a general solution with Axiomatic Design to verify the Independence. By enhancing the existing design model and differentiating the function of mobile phone, user will be able to choose desirable products, which have only specific functions and/or specific parts. First of all, we checked the Independence about the existing design model. Then, we developed the new design model with the idea that base mobile phone should have basic functions and additional functions can be separated, surely be connected when users want.

  • This paper proposes a method of a touch-based remote control and sensor information acquisition of a mobile robot using a smart phone. An application in a smart phone processes the acquired sensor information and conducts autonomous navigation. By touching the screen of the smart phone, a series of points obtained from designated curve traces are analyzed and provide control of a robot. This study develops a mobile application that acquires and handles data from a mobile robot and sends appropriate action commands through remote control using Bluetooth communication with a smart phone. The utility and performance of the proposed control scheme have been successfully verified through experimental tasks using an actual smart phone and a mobile robot.
