전향보상 전압의 위상 변화를 통한 단독운전 검출 방법의 계통 정상 상태의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Islanding Detection Method by Phase Shifted Feed-Forward Voltage in Steady-State Grid Condition)

  • This study proposes a new islanding detection method that uses the phase shift of feed-forward voltage and evaluates the performance of an existing method and the proposed method when the grid frequency changes within the allowable range under steady-state conditions. The investigated existing method, which is slip mode frequency shift (SMS), uses current phase shift to detect islanding. The SMS method supplies reactive current to the grid under this condition, but the proposed method does not generate additional reactive power because it does not depend on the current control loop. The performance in steady-state grid condition is evaluated through simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, a bidirectional three-phase push pull converter is analyzed for the high power, wide voltage range applications. From comparison analysis of two switching methods: PWM plus phase-shift (PPS) and dual-asymmetric PWM (DAPWM) with the effect of dead-time, the proposed hybrid control is aimed to reduce the circulating current under wide voltage range operation. Value of leakage inductance effect to the peak current value, current stress and conduction loss in facing the load variation. Trade-off between power range and slew rate of transformer current was analyzed for properly selecting value of the transformer leakage inductance. Experimental results from a 22-kW prototype are provided to validate the proposed concept.

A Controllable Parallel CBC Block Cipher Mode of Operation

  • To address the requirement for high-speed encryption of large amounts of data, this study improves the widely adopted cipher block chaining (CBC) mode and proposes a controllable parallel cipher block chaining (CPCBC) block cipher mode of operation. The mode consists of two phases: extension and parallel encryption. In the extension phase, the degree of parallelism n is determined as needed. In the parallel encryption phase, n cipher blocks generated in the expansion phase are used as the initialization vectors to open n parallel encryption chains for parallel encryption. The security analysis demonstrates that CPCBC mode can enhance the resistance to byte-flipping attacks and padding oracle attacks if parallelism n is kept secret. Security has been improved when compared to the traditional CBC mode. Performance analysis reveals that this scheme has an almost linear acceleration ratio in the case of encrypting a large amount of data. Compared with the conventional CBC mode, the encryption speed is significantly faster.

Observation of Periodic and Transient Cosmic Ray Flux Variations by the Daejeon Neutron Monitor and the Seoul muon Detector

  • Recently, two instruments of cosmic ray are operating in South Korea. One is Seoul muon detector after October 1999 and the other is Daejeon neutron monitor (Kang et al. 2012) after October 2011. The former consists of four small plastic scintillators and the latter is the standard 18 NM 64 type. In this report, we introduce the characteristics of both instruments. We also analyze the flux variations of cosmic ray such as diurnal variation and Forbush decrease. As the result, the muon flux shows the typical seasonal and diurnal variations. The neutron flux also shows the diurnal variation. The phase which shows the maximum flux in the diurnal variation is around 13-14 local time. We found a Forbush decrease on 7 March 2012 by both instruments. It is also identified by Nagoya multi-direction muon telescope and Oulu neutron monitor. The observation of cosmic ray at Jangbogo station as well as in Korean peninsula can support the important information on space weather in local area. It can also enhance the status of Korea in the international community of cosmic ray experiments.

  • Semiconductor gas sensor using tin oxide as sensing material has been used to detect gases based on the fact that impedance of the sensing material varies when the gas sensor is exposed to the gases. This variation comprises of two parts. The first one is variation in resistance of the sensing material and the other is expressed in terms of the sensor capacitance variation. Normally, only variation of the sensor resistance is considered. In this paper, using AC measurement with a capacitor-coupled inverting amplifier circuit, both changes in the sensor resistance and variations in the sensor capacitance were investigated. These characteristics were represented as magnitude gain and phase shift of AC signal at a specific frequency after passing it through the sensor and the designed circuit. A two-stage artificial neural network, which utilized the information above, was employed to identify and quantify three combustible gases: methane, propane and butane. The network outputs were approximately proportional to concentrations of test gases with reasonable level of error.

A High Current Efficiency CMOS LDO Regulator with Low Power Consumption and Small Output Voltage Variation

  • In this paper we present an LDO based on an error amplifier. The designed error amplifier has a gain of 89.93dB at low frequencies. This amplifier's Bandwidth is 50.8MHz and its phase margin is $59.2^{\circ}C$. Also we proposed a BGR. This BGR has a low output variation with temperature and its PSRR at 1 KHz is -71.5dB. For a temperature variation from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$ we have just 9.4mV variation in 3.3V LDO output. Also it is stable for a wide range of output load currents [0-200mA] and a $1{\mu}F$ output capacitor and its line regulation and especially load regulation is very small comparing other papers. The PSRR of proposed LDO is -61.16dB at 1 KHz. Also we designed it for several output voltages by using a ladder of resistors, transmission gates and a decoder. Low power consumption is the other superiority of this LDO which is just 1.55mW in full load. The circuit was designed in $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process.

Sea Level Variations at Kerguelen Island in the South Indian Ocean by the Satellite Data(ARGOS) and Meteorological Data(METEO)

  • We studied the sea level variations at Kerguelen island in the South Indian Ocean with ARGOS data and meteorological data during about 1 year(May 1993~April 1994) through using filter, spectral analysis, coherency and phase, and found characteristics for the two oceanic signal levels(detided oceanic signal level, h$_{detided}$ and seasonal oceanic level, h$_{corr.ib}$). The forms of atmospheric pressure variations are good agreed to between ARGOS data and meteorological data in the observed periods. This Kerguelen area shows the inflow of an air temperature(gain of a radiant heat) into the sea water and the stagnation of high atmospheric pressure bands in summer, and the outflow of a sea water temperature(loss of sensible and latent heat) toward the atmosphere and the stagnation of low atmospheric pressure bands in winter. The seasonal difference of sea level between summer and winter is about 1.6cm. Both the detided oceanic signal level(h$_{detided}$) variation and the inverted barometer level(h$_{ib}$) variation have a strong correlation for T>1day period bands. The characteristics of h$_{detided}$ variation are not decided by the influence of any meteorological distributions (atmospheric pressure), but the influence of other factors(bottom water temperature) for T>2days periods bands. h$_{corr.ib}$ plays a very important role of sea level variation in the observed periods (especially T>about 180days period bands).

  • 이동통신 시스템에서 이동단말이 소비하는 전력은 휴대용 배터리의 용량 제약으로 인하여 매우 중요하게 고려되는 이슈이다. 따라서, Mobile WiMAX 시스템을 포함한 대부분의 무선통신 네트워크 규격은 이동단말의 전력소모를 줄이기 위한 전력절약 모드를 지원한다. 그러나 이들 규격에서 제시하는 전력절약 모드는 청취구간의 시간적인 배치만을 정의한다. 따라서 전력절약 모드로 동작하는 단말의 소비전력은 단말제조사의 구현형태에 의존적이며, 채널환경 변화에 따라 페이징 손실의 위험성도 존재한다. 본 논문은 광대역 이동통신 네트워크 환경에서 전력절약 모드로 동작하는 이동단말이 채널품질의 변동추이를 바탕으로 최선의 기지국을 선택하는 방식을 통해 보다 효율적인 전력사용 및 청취구간 동안 페이징 메시지의 손실 위험을 줄이는 실용적인 알고리즘을 제시한다. 이러한 채널적응형 주파수/기지국 재선택 알고리즘은 청취구간 동안 채널품질을 측정하는 과정, 측정된 채널품질의 변동을 추적하는 과정, 추적결과에 따라 이종 주파수 탐색을 수행하는 과정, 탐색결과에 따라 최선의 주파수 및 기지국을 재선택 하는 과정으로 구성되어 있다. 그러므로 제안된 방식은 단말이 이동함에 따라 해당 네트워크의 채널환경이 변하더라도 전력을 합리적으로 사용함과 동시에 양호한 기지국을 선택하게 함으로써, 청취구간에서 페이징 메시지 수신성능을 향상시킨다. 본 알고리즘을 적용한 시뮬레이션 결과는 단말의 이동하는 채널환경에서 다른 후보방안들 보다 페이징 메시지 수신성능이 우수함을 보여주고 있으며 동시에 단말이 평균적으로 보다 양호한 채널환경에서 전력절약 모드를 동작하게 함을 보여준다.

조류 조화상수의 월변동성 완화 방법 고찰 (Investigating the Adjustment Methods of Monthly Variability in Tidal Current Harmonic Constants)

  • This is a preliminary study of the feasibility of obtaining reliable tidal current harmonic constants, using one month of current observations, to verify the accuracy of a tidal model. An inference method is commonly used to separate out the tidal harmonic constituents when the available data spans less than a synodic period. In contrast to tidal constituents, studies of the separation of tidal-current harmonics are rare, basically due to a dearth of the long-term observation data needed for such experiments. We conducted concurrent and monthly harmonic analyses for tidal current velocities and heights, using 2 years (2006 and 2007) of current and sea-level records obtained from the Tidal Current Signal Station located in the narrow waterway in front of Incheon Lock, Korea. Firstly, the l-year harmonic analyses showed that, with the exception of $M_2$ and $S_2$ semidiurnal constituents, the major constituents were different for the tidal currents and heights. $K_1$, for instance, was found to be the 4th major tidal constituent but not an important tidal current constituent. Secondly, we examined monthly variation in the amplitudes and phase-lags of the $S_2$ and $K_1$ current-velocity and tide constituents over a 23-month period. The resultant patterns of variation in the amplitudes and phase-lags of the $S_2$ tidal currents and tides were similar, exhibiting a sine curve form with a 6-month period. Similarly, variation in the $K_1$ tidal constant and tidal current-velocity phase lags showed a sine curve pattern with a 6-month period. However, that of the $K_1$ tidal current-velocity amplitude showed a somewhat irregular sine curve pattern. Lastly, we investigated and tested the inference methods available for separating the $K_2$ and $S_2$ current-velocity constituents via monthly harmonic analysis. We compared the effects of reduction in monthly variability in tidal harmonic constants of the $S_2$ current-velocity constituent using three different inference methods and that of Schureman (1976). Specifically, to separate out the two constituents ($S_2$ and $K_2$), we used three different inference parameter (i.e. amplitude ratio and phase-lag diggerence) values derived from the 1-year harmonic analyses of current-velocities and tidal heights at (near) the short-term observation station and from tidal potential (TP), together with Schureman's (1976) inference (SI). Results from these four different methods reveal that TP and SI are satisfactorily applicable where results of long-term harmonic analysis are not available. We also discussed how to further reduce the monthly variability in $S_2$ tidal current-velocity constants.

IP 제어기를 이용한 통신 전원용 3상 PWM 컨버터의 전압 제어 (IP Voltage Controller of Three-phase PWM Converter for Power Supply of Communication System)

  • 대용량 전원장치의 정류기는 입력전류의 고조파를 줄이기 위해, 입력 전류 제어기능을 갖는 3상 PWM 정류기의 적용이 확대되고 있다. 3상 PWM 정류기의 전압제어기는 일반적으로 PI 제어기가 사용되며, 출력 전압의 안정성을 얻고 신뢰성을 확보하기 위하여 전압 제어기는 출력전압의 과도상태에서 오버슈트(Overshoot)를 작게 설계한다. 그러나 부하 변동이 급격한 대용량 통신용 전원 장치에 3상 PWM 정류기가 적용될 경우 빠른 부하 변동에 대한 안정적 전압 응답을 얻기 위하여 보다 넓은 대역폭을 갖도록 전압 제어기를 설계할 필요가 있다. 넓은 대역폭을 갖는 PI 제어기는 과도한 출력전압의 오버슈트가 발생될 수 있으며, 이 과도한 출력전압 오버슈트는 통신용 전원의 안정성을 해칠 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 과도 상태에서 출력전압의 오버슈트를 작게 하기 위하여 IP 제어기를 갖는 3상 PWM 정류기의 전압 제어기를 제안한다. 제안된 전압 제어기는 3상 PWM 정류기의 기동 시와 부하 변동시의 과도 응답특성을 개선될 수 있음을 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해 확인하였다.
