  • The role and effect of aluminum tristearate in microencapsulation were investigated based on the dispersion system of ethambutol hydrochloride in acetone-liquid paraffin. Eudragit RS was used as a wall-forming material. Eudragit RS microcapsules prepared using aluminum tristearate were uniform, free-flowing particles. The phase diagram of ethambutol hydrochloride-Eudragit RS-aluminum tristearate indicated that spherical microcapsules ranging from 250 to 1400 ${\mu}m$ in diameter could be prepared only in a very limited region. Instrumental analysis using an energy dispersive-type X-ray microanalyser and a scanning electron microscope showed that aluminum tristearate was localized near the surface of microcapsules. From these results, it was presumed that aluminum tristearate reduced the phase tension between Eudragit microcapsules and liquid paraffin. The dissolution rates of ethambutol hydrochloride from Eudragit RS microcapsules were consideraly lower than those from ethambutol hydrochloride powders and decreased as the amount of aluminum tristearate decreased.

  • There is a gap in our understanding of the behavior of fused and molten fuel salts containing unavoidable contamination, such as those due to fabrication, handling, or storage. Therefore, this work used calorimetry to investigate the change in liquidus temperature of PuCl3, having an unknown purity and that had been in storage for several decades. Further research was performed by additions of NaCl, making several compositions within the binary system, and summarizing the resulting changes, if any, to the phase diagram. The melting temperature of the PuCl3 was determined to be 746.5℃, approximately 20℃ lower than literature reported values, most likely due to an excess of Pu metal in the PuCl3 either due to the presence of metallic plutonium remaining from incomplete chlorination or due to the solubility of Pu in PuCl3. From the melting temperature, it was determined that the PuCl3 contained between 5.9 to 6.2mol% Pu metal. Analysis of the NaCl-PuCl3 samples showed that using the Pu rich PuCl3 resulted in significant changes to the NaCl-PuCl3 phase diagram. Most notably an unreported phase transition occurring at approximately 406℃ and a new eutectic composition of 52.7mol% NaCl-38.7mol% PuCl3-2.5mol% Pu which melted at 449.3℃. Additionally, an increase in the liquidus temperatures was seen for NaCl rich compositions while lower liquidus temperatures were seen for PuCl3 rich compositions. It can therefore be concluded that changes will occur in the NaCl-PuCl3 binary system when using PuCl3 with excess Pu metal. However, melting temperature analysis can provide valuable insight into the composition of the PuCl3 and therefore the NaCl-PuCl3 system.

  • Software testing is an important phase as it ensures the software quality. The software testing process comprises of three steps: generation, execution, and evaluation of test cases. Literature claims the usage of single and multiple 'Unified Modeling Language' (UML) diagrams to generate test cases. Using multiple UML diagrams increases test case coverage. However, the existing approaches show limitations in test case generation from UML diagrams. Therefore, in this research study, we propose an approach to generate the test cases using UML State Chart Diagram (SCD), Activity Diagram (AD), and Sequence Diagram (SD). The proposed approach transforms UML diagrams into intermediate forms: SCD Graph, AD Graph, and SD Graph respectively. Furthermore, by integrating these three graphs, a System Testing Graph (STG) is formed. Finally, test cases are identified from STG by using a traversal algorithm such as Depth First Search (DFS) that is an optimization method. The results show that the proposed approach is better compared to existing approaches in terms of coverage and performance. Moreover, the generated test cases have the ability to detect faults at the unit level, integration, and system level testing.

  • In the preliminary design phase of explosion-proof structures, the use of P-I diagram is useful. Based on the fact that the deformation criteria at failure or heavy damage is significantly larger than the yield deformation, a closed form solution of normalized P-I diagram is proposed using the complete plastic resistance curve. When actual sizes and material properties of RC structural component are considered, the complete plasticity assumption shows only a maximum error of 6% in terms of strain energy, and a maximum difference of 9% of the amount of explosives in CWSD. Thru comparison with four field test results, the same damage pattern was predicted in all four specimens.

  • Emulsions are a class of disperse systems consisting of two immiscible liquids. Emulsions are affected by the size of oil drop, the type of continuous and disperse phase, the ratio of continuous and disperse phase, the type of emulsifies and emulsification devices. This study is to observe the viscosity of emulsions with oil polarities and interpret the results by organic conceptual diagram. The emulsions were made with hydrocarbon, ester and silicone oils and then the viscosity of emulsions was measured. As the oil polarity was increased, the viscosity of emulsion was decreased by reducing the amount of emulsifies and emulsion stabilizers arranged at interface. Organic conceptual diagram was used to compare the polarities among oils numerically. The interpretation of organic conceptual diagram and the results of experimental measurement were corresponded except emulsion made with silicone oil.

  • Software life cycle consists of requirement analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance phases, and the product of each phase has various format. The UML normalizes such products, and the class diagram, use case diagram, activity diagram and collaboration diagram are usually used for the requirement analysis phase. Because most of UML development tools store such diagrams in a file, there nay be some difficulties of information retrieval and co-work among users. To cope with the difficulties, this paper proposes a database supported methodology to store and manage the diagrams produced by the requirement analysis. In this methodology, the constituents of class, use case, activity and collaboration diagram are first analyzed and then transformed in the form of relational fables. The constituents of such diagrams are stored as tables in a database, and can be easily retrieved from the database by using some queries. This database supported methodology provides the concurrent sharing and high reuse of diagrams.

  • 1. INTRODUCTION : Since the knowledge of vitrification phenomena can lead to a better understanding of the mechanism of membrane formation, it is desirable to include vitrification line into the phase diagrams. While the final morphology obtained during phase inversion depends upon the kinetics as well as the thermodynamics of the phase separation, the equilibrium phase diagram and vitrification line for amorphous polymers are still a good tool for controlling the morphology and interpreting the membrane structure.

  • Voloxidation is a process for converting $UO_2$ into $U_3O_8$ while removing some volatile products in spent fuels (SF). Various oxidative gas conditions including air and mixture of Ar and $O_2$ could be adopted for the process. The gas flows into a reactor under high temperature ($>500^{\circ}C$) and components of SF are reacted with the gas. SF is composed of various components such as actinides, lanthanides, and alkali metals. Therefore, it is of significance to understand their behavior during the reactions for process development. However, due to the limit of available experiments, phase diagram analysis should be preceded. TPP diagram is constructed with respect to temperature-pressure-pressure. It shows a stable phase depending on partial pressures of gas components as well as temperature. In this work, we investigated TPP diagrams for actinides, lanthanides and other oxides to determine stable oxide forms under different gas conditions. The results would be used to set up a material balance under a pyroprocessing scheme of SF and compare the gas conditions for the optimization of fission products removal.
