  • Microstep driving method is adopted to reduce the thrust ripple of LPM(Linear Pulse Motor). It controls each phase current to improve the resolution of position. Therefore, the phase current waveform affects the characteristics of LPM in microstep drive. In this paper, the characteristics of LPM was investigated in accordance with phase current waveform.

  • THC(Total Hydrocarbon) emissions during cold start and warm-up phase constitute the majority of THC emissions during the FTP-75 mode. As the basic approach to improve the emission performance of Gasoline engine during transient phase, the effect of spark timing retard from MBT on THC emission characteristics is studied by engine test using a Fast response Flame Ionization Detector(FFID). A cyclic analysis of the combustion process shows that high THC emissions are produced first few cycles during the transient phase. This paper presents the results of engine performance and emission of Gasoline engine with various spark timing. consequently, This paper was focused on the combustion phenomena with various spark timing during transient phase which was analyzed by Fast response Flame Ionization Detector (FFID) equipment to measure the cyclic THC emission characteristics.

  • Liquid crystals (LCs) which utilize the phase above blue phase temperature range are also known to format the optically nanostructured composites devices based on Kerr effect these days. We report electro-optical characteristics of the polymer-stabilized cholestric LCs by using UV curable monomers at the different temperatures such as blue phase temperature range, blue phase-isotropic transition temperature, and isotropic temperature range. The devices exhibit different electro-optic characteristics.

  • The ferroresonance characteristics in 3 phase transformer is analysed in this paper using EMTP simulations under the consideration of lateral length of the primary cable. The ferroresonant overvoltage or undervoltage may occur in cable-fed 3 phase transformer when single phase switching is made in relatively remote point from the transformer, and this phenomena is closely related to the lateral length of the cable. This paper shows the voltage characteristics concerned with the transformer ferroresonance and the proper lateral length of the cable for reducing the voltage in 3 phase installation, through some case studies.

  • The characteristics of harmonic phase angles and phase angle differences contained in earthquake ground motions such as El Centre 1940 NS, Taft1 1952 NS, Hachinohe 1968 NS and Mexico 1985 are figured, which have been mostly overlooked in contrast with the importance placed on harmonic amplitudes. Recently, performance based design method is used for seismic design and seismic retrofitting, which needs nonlinear response analysis, there must be earthquake ground accelerations which contain the phase angle, the phase angle difference and energy input spectrum characteristics of the zone considered to be constructed building structures. To make clear the importance of phase angle differences, responses of 4 recorded earthquake ground motions, 4-earthquake ground motions normalized by 110 gal and 4 artificial earthquake motions compatible to the seismic building code of Korea are compared.

  • Single phase induction motor(SPIM) is used widely because it is driven by single phase source. However, the efficiency of the motor is not good due to saturation of magnetic material. To analyze the motor accurately, the magnetic saturation characteristics should be considered in analysis of equivalent circuit. In this paper, lumped parameter of circuit are derived from multi phase induction motor using method of symmetrical coordinates. Also, we presents a method for the equivalent circuit analysis of SPIM using magnetic saturation rate. The magnetic nonlinearity is considered deriving magnetizing reactance from voltage-current saturation curve. As a results, current characteristic, torque, output and efficiency are shown through analysis of equivalent circuit. A simulation results of SPIM will be used to improve the characteristics and efficiency of motor.

  • Two-phase flow exists in many industrial components. Characteristics of two-phase flow have been studied by many researchers; however, a further study of the two-phase is required for flow-induced vibration. Characteristics of two-phase flow were measured by force sensor at the end of a vertical pipe. The predominant frequency of fluctuation was obtained for various speeds of flow pattern. A correlation to slug frequency for horizontal flow was obtained by Heywood & Richardson (1979), while Legius et al (1997) for vertical flow. A coefficient based on the correlation is estimated and then compared to the existing ones. The existing empirical formulations for average void fraction were proposed by Wallis (1969), Zuber et al (1967) and Ishii (1970). In the present result, flow parameters, such as flow quality and real velocity, are evaluated with void fraction.

  • Gas injection is a technique applied to improve throttling in liquid rocket engines and atomization in effervescent injectors. When a gas is injected into a liquid, it creates a two-phase flow inside the injector. The changes (bubbly flow, slug flow, annular flow, etc.) in the two-phase flow affect the injector's spray characteristics. In this study, cold-flow tests were performed by using three injectors with different orifice diameters and four aerators with different gas injection hole diameters. The experiments were done by changing the thrust ratio (liquid mass flow rate ratio) and gas-liquid mass flow rate ratio. Two-phase flow transition, breakup length, and discharge coefficient according to the injector/aerator design and flow conditions were investigated in detail.

  • More reliable design of thermal transport. Power acquisition and thermal management systems requires the through understanding of the flow hydrodynamic. the differences and similarities between the two-phase flow characteristics of two-Phase flow influenced by the gravity levels. The data of flow Patterns, void fraction, frictional pressure drop associated with their characteristics were obtained at $\mu\textrm{g}$. 1g and 2g. Flow patterns and void fraction data obtained at three gravity levels were compared with each other and previous models and correlations.

  • In this paper, we operate Synchronous Reluctance Motor(SynRM) using the two-phase conduction method. Acually SynRM is operated by the sinusoidal PWM method but in home-appliance there is many restrictions of making the motor such as the method of winding, the shape of rotor etc. Therefore it is possible that there is little difference of performance between the two-phase conduction method and the sinusoidal PWM method. In this paper the characteristics of motor noise will be analyzed especially in the case of using the two-phase conduction method by experiment results.
