  • This study investigates the solubility of neptunium (Np) in the deep natural groundwater of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute Underground Research Tunnel (KURT). According to a Pourbaix diagram (pH-$E_h$ diagram) that was calculated using the geochemical modeling program PHREEQC 2.0, the redox potential and the carbonate ion concentration both control the solubility of neptunium. The carbonate effect becomes pronounced when the total carbonate concentration is higher than $1.5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}$ M at $E_h$ = -200 mV and the pH value is 10. Given the assumption that the solubility-limiting stable solid phase is $Np(OH)_4(am)$ under the reducing condition relevant to KURT, the soluble neptunium concentrations were in the range of $1\;{\times}\;10^{-9}$ M to $3\;{\times}\;10^{-9}$ M under natural groundwater conditions. However, the solubility of neptunium, which was calculated with the formation constants of neptunium complexes selected in an OECD-NEA TDB review, strongly deviates from the value measured in natural groundwater. Thus, it is highly recommended that a prediction of neptunium solubility is based on the formation constants of ternary Np(IV) hydroxo-carbonato complexes, even though the presence of those complexes is deficient in terms of the characterization of neptunium species. Based on a comparison of the measurements and calculations of geochemical modeling, the formation constants for the "upper limit" of the Np(IV) hydroxo-carbonato complexes, namely $Np(OH)_y(CO_3)_z^{4-y-2z}$, were appraised as follows: log $K^{\circ}_{122}\;=\;-3.0{\pm}0.5$ for $Np(OH)_2(CO_3)_2^{2-}$, log $K^{\circ}_{131}\;=\;-5.0{\pm}0.5$ for $Np(OH)_3(CO_3)^-$, and log $K^{\circ}_{141}\;=\;-6.0{\pm}0.5$ for $Np(OH)_4(CO_3)^{2-}$.

  • Unidirectional magnetic anisotropy field ($H_an$) was investigated for thin films of $CdCr{2-2x}In_{2X}Se_4 (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.2). This anisotropy originates from the microscopic anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction which arise from the spin-orbit scattering of the conduction electrons by the nonmagnetic impurities. This interaction maintains the remanent magnetization in the direction of the initial applied field. Then the single easy direction of the magnetization is parallel to the direction of the magnetic field. The anisotropy produced by field cooling is unidirectional I.e. the spins system deeps some memory of the cooling field direction. The chalcogenide spinel of$ CdCr_{2-2x}In){2X}Se_4$belongs to the class of the magnetic semiconductors. The magnetic disordered state is obtained when ferromagnetic structure is diluted by In. Then we have the mixed phase characterised by coexistence the magnetic long range ordering (IFN-infinite ferromagnetic network) and the spin glass order (Fc-finite clusters). The total magnetic anisotropy energy depends on the state of magnetic ordering. In our study we concentrated on the magnetic state with reentrant transition and spin glass state. The polycrystalline $ CdCr_{2-2x}In){2X}Se_4$ thin films were obtained by rf sputtering technique. We applied the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and M-H loop techniques for determining the temperature composition dependencies of Han. From the experimental data, we have found that Han decreases almost linearly when temperature is increased and in the low temperature is about three times bigger at SG state with comparison to the state with REE.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the shock attenuation mechanisms while varying the loads in a backpack during drop landing. Ten subjects (age: $22.8{\pm}3.6$, height: $173.5{\pm}4.3$, weight: $70.4{\pm}5.2$) performed drop landing under five varying loads (0, 5kg. 10kg. 20kg. 30kg). By employing two cameras (Sony VX2100) the following kinematic variables (phase time, joint rotational angle and velocity of ankle, knee and hip) were calculated by applying 2D motion analysis. Additional data, i.e. max vertical ground force (VGRF) and acceleration, was acquired by using two AMTI Force plates and a Noraxon Inline Accelerometer Sensor. Through analysing the power spectrum density (PSD), drop landing patterns were classified into four groups and each group was discovered to have a different shock attenuation mechanism. The first pattern that appeared at landing was that the right leg absorbed most of the shock attenuation. The second pattern to appear was that subject quickly transferred the load from the right leg to the left leg as quickly as possible. Thus, this illustrated that two shock attenuation mechanisms occurred during drop landing under varying load conditions.

  • Siliceous mudstones are embedded on a large scale in the Tertiary formations of Pohang area. Some useful zeolites such as NsP, (Na, TMA)P, analcime and hydroxysodalite were synthesized from the siliceous mudstones by treating with the variety of solution, i.e ., NaOH, NaOH+NaCl, NaOH, NaOH+$NaAlO_2$and NaOH+TMAOH at the low-temperature hydrothermal system ranging 60~12$0^{\circ}C$. Major precursor of zeolites is found as opal-CT in the zeolite-forming reaction. Smectite, which is included in considerable amounts in the mudstone, appears to play a major role of Al-source in the zeolite synthesis. In comparison, chalcedonic quartz and mica are rather insoluble in alkaline solution, and thus, these are observed as major impurities in the reaction products. An addition of $NaAlO_2$to NaOH solution is effective for eliminating these impurities in the reaction procedure, through these are partly dissolved when elevating the reaction temperature, concentration, and time. Phase change from NaP to hydroxysodalite takes place at the NaOH concentrations of 3.0~4.0 M, and the reaction is not sensitive to the temperature shift. NaP is more stable at lower NaOH concentration and higher activity of $Na_{+}$ whereas analcime is sensitive to the temperature change and stable at higher than $100^{\circ}C$ and 2.0~4.0 M in NaOH concentration. For the pure NaP synthesis without any other products, the treatment of mudstones with 1:1 solution of NaOH and $NaAlO _2$ turns out to be quite effective. NaP was successfully synthesized together with analcime at $100^{\circ}C$ as well as lower concentrations of NaOH+NaCl solution. In addition, the organic type, (Na, TMA)P was formed together with smectite in the 1:1 solution of NaOH and TMAOH.

  • Recently construction projects become more bigger. So construction companies have being performed cost and schedule management task by using PMIS. In engineering and construction phase, progress management which occur the most frequent information I/O(input and output) should be managed effectively by PMIS. Although most information by PMIS manage efficiently, cost-schedule information for progress management is difficult to be managed due to recurrent information input. thus when changed by price fluctuation and change order, progress management could not connnect cost information with schedule information. So it caused inaccuracy of progress measurement and data increase in PMIS. To solve this problem, This study suggests improved module for progress management through integration of cost-schedule using quantity take-offs as progress measurement method.

  • This study explores the 6-month lead prediction skill of stratospheric temperature and circulations in the Global Seasonal forecasting model version 5 (GloSea5) hindcast experiment over the period of 1996~2009. Both the tropical and extratropical circulations are considered by analyzing the Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO) and Northern Hemisphere Polar Vortex (NHPV). Their prediction skills are quantitatively evaluated by computing the Anomaly Correlation Coefficient (ACC) and Mean Squared Skill Score (MSSS), and compared with those of El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Arctic Oscillation (AO). Stratospheric temperature is generally better predicted than tropospheric temperature. Such improved prediction skill, however, rapidly disappears in a month, and a reliable prediction skill is observed only in the tropics, indicating a higher prediction skill in the tropics than in the extratropics. Consistent with this finding, QBO is well predicted more than 6 months in advance. Its prediction skill is significant in all seasons although a relatively low prediction skill appears in the spring when QBO phase transition often takes place. This seasonality is qualitatively similar to the spring barrier of ENSO prediction skill. In contrast, NHPV exhibits no prediction skill beyond one month as in AO prediction skill. In terms of MSSS, both QBO and NHPV are better predicted than their counterparts in the troposphere, i.e., ENSO and AO, indicating that the GloSea5 has a higher prediction skill in the stratosphere than in the troposphere.

  • The desulfurization ability of Sphingomonas subarctica T7b was evaluated using resting and immobilized cells with dibenzothiophene (DBT), alkyl DBTs, and commercial light gas oil (LGO) as the substrates. The resting cells of S. subarctica T7b degraded 239.2 mg of the initial 250 mg of DBT/l (1.36 mM) within 24 h at $27^{\circ}C$, while 127.5 mg of 2-hydroxybiphenyl (2-HBP)/l (0.75 mM) was formed, representing a 55% conversion of the DBT. The DBT desulfurization activity was significantly affected by the aqueous-to-oil phase ratio. In addition, the resting cells of S. subarctica T7b were able to desulfurize alkyl DBTs with long alkyl chains, although the desulfurization rate decreased with an increase in the total carbon number of the alkylated DBTs. LGO with a total sulfur content of 280 mg/l was desulfurized to 152 mg/l after 24 h of reaction. Cells immobilized by entrapment with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) exhibited a high DBT desulfurization activity, including repeated use for more than 8 batch cycles without loss of biodesulfurization activity. The stability of the immobilized cells was better than that of the resting cells at different initial pHs, higher temperatures, and for DBT biodesulfurization in successive degradation cycles. The immobilized cells were also easily separated from the oil and water phases, giving this method great potential for oil biodesulfurization.

  • The effect of each azalea(Rhodoendron mucronulatum) pollen extract on phase I enzyme(aniline hydroxylase)was studied in this experiment. Serum aminotransferases were not changed in mice injected each azalea pollen extract, respectively compared to control group. The hepatic micros mal aniline hydroxylase activities in the presence of each azalea pollen extract were not affected in vitro. After treatment with azalea pollen water extract, hepatic microsomal aniline hydroxylase activity was increased with dose-dependent manner as compared to control group. The increment of hepatic microsmal aniline hydroxylase activity was more powerful by the treatment of water extract. As mice received aniline after pollen butanol and water extract-pretreatment once a day for 5 days, the blood and liver levels of aniline were decreased significantly.

  • This paper presents various strategies for humanoid vehicle driving and egress tasks. For driving, a tele-operating system that controls a robot based on a human operator's commands is built. In addition, an autonomous assistant module is developed for the operator. Normal position control can result in severe damage to robots when they egress from vehicles. To prevent this problem, another approach that mixes various joint control techniques is adopted in this study. Additionally, a footplate is newly designed and attached to the vehicle floor for the ground landing phase of the egress task. The attached plate enables the robot to step down onto the ground in a safe manner. For stable locomotion, a balance controller is designed for the humanoid. For the design of the controller, the robot is modeled using an inverted pendulum that consists of a spring and a damper. Then, a state feedback controller (with pole placement and a state observer) is built based on the simplified model. Many approaches that are presented in this paper were successfully applied to a full-sized humanoid, DRC-HUBO+, in the DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals, which were held in the United States in 2015.

  • GNSS is a satellite-based radio navigation aid. For using it in civil air navigation area, any GNSS service should meet the requirements of accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability in each flight phase established by ICAO. In this study, a remote integrity monitoring system(RIMS) for GNSS are proposed and explained to utilize it in the design of GNSS augmentation system such as GBAS and GRAS. The RIMS consists of signal-in-space receiving subsystem and signal processing subsystem. Each GPS receiver is connected to Host PC by the serial to ethernet converting device which is able to convert serial port connection to LAN port connection in order to exchange information via the internet. We can overcome the siting limitation of GPS receiver and antenna, and reduce signal loses in the cable between GPS antenna and receiver. This system is providing the development environment for GBAS CAT-I system.
