  • 매미나방알좀벌, Ooencyrtus kuvanae (Hymenoptera : Encyrtidae), 이 기주를 발견한 후 산란을 끝내고 기주를 떠날 때까지 11단계의 연속행동과정, 그리고 자기몸청소, 휴식 등과 같은 부수적인 행동이나 산란관에 의한 상처로부터 나오는 기주체액을 먹는 습성 등이 조사되었다. 기생벌에 기주난이 연속적으로 주어졌을 때는 처음 산란을 마친 매미나방알좀벌은 활발히 주변을 움직이며 다음 산란대상이 되는 기주에 보다 빨리 접근하는 경향을 나타내고, 또한 기주접촉단계에 소요하는 시간이 첫 번째 난에서 보다 두 번째 세 번째난에서 단축되는 경향을 나타내는 것으로 관찰되어 산란경험이 기주발견과 인식에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다.

  • This paper presents harmonic evaluation of an IAT(Intra Airport Transit) system in Incheon International Airport. It will be used electric vehicles with 80 kW per car that are produced Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, and one car is constructed with SIV(Static Inverter), VVVF(Variable Voltage and Variable Frequency) and two induction motor. The operated vehicles in the IAT system are rapidly changing DC load, and at a feeding substation, 3-phase electric power is transferred to DC 750 V by rectifier. Since, vehicles are also changing continuously, the voltages for the DC load fluctuate in the IAT system, and moreover, the fluctuating voltages generate high-order harmonics. This means that there is the difficulty in maintaining power quality in KEPCO systems' side. Therefore, the power quality of the IAT system in Incheon International Airport is evaluated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulator in the paper. The THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) of voltages and TDD(Total Demand Distortion) of currents, indices are calculated for the IAT system using the results of PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulation.

Daily Profiles of Blood Insulin, Insulin-Like Growth Factor-I, Thyroxine and Triiodothyronine in Ewes Under Three Levels of Feed Intake

  • Daily variation in the serum concentrations of insulin and insulin-like growth factor-I and in the plasma concentrations of thyroxine and triiodothyronine were evaluated in ewes fed 30%, 100% and 200% of theoretical maintenance energy requirements. The single daily meal has had significant effects (p<0.05) on almost all profiles. In general, serum or plasma hormone concentrations have increased after the meal, in particular at the two higher levels of energy intake. In the group submitted to the lowest level of energy intake, the consequences of the meal on circulating levels were almost imperceptible. The effects of feeding levels on serum or plasma concentrations have widely varied among hormones, not showing any objective pattern or relationship. Because these variations may affect the interpretation of these blood indicators, knowledge of daily profiles and of the effect of feed level must be considered. In order to maximize the diagnostic value of those indicators, the most suitable times for blood collection seem to be 16 h after the meal and (or) just before the meal. The collection 16 h after the meal apparently allows the characterization of a relatively steady metabolic state, intermediate between the close effects of food intake and the final phase of the intensification of body reserves mobilization. The collection just before the meal will give a good indication of the level of activity of those mobilization mechanisms.

  • The electric railway has been widely used as a transportation all over the world. It also was opened in 1973 in korea and it has been steadily proceeded in making electric railway network for a big city and building Keongbu high speed , electric railway. That's why the system of electric railway is able to solve the environmental pollution and operate the useful energy in environmental ways, it helps to increase the ability of transportation and to decrease the cost. Because of the advantage of making the economic situation better, the system of electric railway is trying to do their best in developing technique of electric railway. Because of the increasing of transportation and the high speed operation, cars with regenerative braking system was adapted. Therefore, unbalanced voltage and current of three phase system and the drop and rise of voltage of feeding circuit is expected. Now that building the substation, newly spends lots of costs and time, it is a very difficult situation to solve the problem. We can guess that electric railway line can't receive power from the power system of bigger size in building newly electric railway. In this paper, it was proved that series voltage compensator was suitable as a solution according to voltage drop and voltage fluctuating through computer simulation.

Induction of Apoptosis with Kigelia africana fruits in HCT116 Human Colon Cancer Cells via MAPKs Signaling Pathway

  • Kigelia africana (Lam.) Benth. (Bignoniaceae) is a flowering plants in South, Central and West Africa and commonly known as the sausage tree (Eng.); worsboom (Afr.); umVunguta, umFongothi (Zulu); Modukguhlu (North Sotho); Muvevha (Venda). The dried, powdered fruits are used as dressing for wounds and ulcers, haemorrhoids, rheumatism, purgative, skin-firming, lactation in breast-feeding mothers. The aim of this study is to investigate the cytotoxic and apoptotic potentials of 70% ethanolic extracts of Kigelia africana fruits in HCT116 human colon cancer cells. Treatment of Kigelia africana fruits with various concentrations resulted in a sequence of characteristic of apoptosis, including loss of cell viability and morphological changes. Flow cytometry analysis showed Kigelia africana fruits increased the sub-G1 phase (apoptosis) population. Apoptosis confirmed by annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate and propidium iodide double staining in HCT116 human colon cancer cell lines. Moreover, analysis of the mechanism indicated that Kigelia africana fruits showed an increased Bax and Bcl-2 expressions in a dose-dependent manner, resulting in activation of hallmarks of apoptotic events, caspase-3, caspase-9 and cleaved poly-ADP-ribose polymerase. This is the first report to demonstrate the cytotoxicity of Kigelia africana fruits on HCT116 human colon cancer cells.

Association between oropharyngeal microbiome and weight gain in piglets during pre and post weaning life

  • Birth weight and subsequent weight gain is of critical importance in the survival and performance of piglets on a commercial swine farm setting. Oropharyngeal microbiome could influence immunity, and feeding behavior thus impacting health and weight gain. We used 16S rRNA gene sequencing to profile the composition and predicted metabolic functionality of the oropharyngeal microbiota in 8 piglets (4 with a birthweight ≤ 1.0 kg and 4 with a birthweight ≥ 1.7 kg) at 11, 26, and 63 days of age. We found 9 genera that were significantly associated with average daily gain (ADG) at 11 days (false discovery rate, FDR < 0.05) and 26 days of age (FDR < 0.1), respectively. The microbial functional profile revealed several pathways associated with ADG (FDR < 0.05). Among these, pathways related to degradation of catechols showed a positive association with ADG at 11, 26, and 63 days of age, implying a potential to breakdown the host-derived catecholamines. We also noted that pathways related to the biodegradation of nucleosides and nucleotides increased with ADG during the pre-weaning phase, while those involved in their biosynthesis decreased. Our findings provide insights into the oropharyngeal microbial memberships and metabolic pathways that are involved in a piglet's weight gain. Thus, providing a basis for the development of strategies aimed at improving weight gain in pigs.

용탕 침투법을 이용한 복합 삽입 금속의 제조 (Fabrication of Composite Filler Metal by Melt Infiltration)

  • The aim of this study is fabricating of composite filler metal (CFM) by a combination of selective laser sintering (SLS) of stainless steel powders (RapidSteel $2.0^{TM}$ and liquid phase infiltration of Ag-28 wt.%Cu alloy. Porous stainless steel body with inter-connected pore channels was fabricated by SLS, binder decomposing and densification processes. By the direct contact infiltration, the narrow inter-particle channels of the porous body were completely filled with the Ag-28 wt.%Cu alloy infiltrant. During infiltration, the dissolved elements of Fe, Ni and Cr from the porous body were solved into copper solid solution phases, which consist of eutectic structure of composite metal matrix. The S10C/CFM/S10C joints, which have narrow clearance gaps between them up to 10 micrometers, were joined successfully by self-feeding of filler metal from the matrix of CFM. The CFM kept its original thickness and microstructure after brazing. The tensile strength of brazed specimen was higher than 30 kgf/$mm^2$ and showed a typical ductile fracture mode in the CFM.

FDTD 방법을 이용한 Corrugated Feed-Horn Antenna 의 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of the Corrugated Feed-Horn Antenna Using FDTD Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 $\infty$rrugation이 개구변에 수직인 환형 급전-혼 안테나의 전파반사를 FDTD 방법으로 해석하였 다. 동축선로로 혼 안테나가 급전할 때 thin wire 안테나 모델과 전계와 자계를 전압과 전류로 모댈렁한 1차원 F FDTD코딩방법을 이용하여 계산시간을 효율적으로 줄일 수 있었다. 중심주파수 11.8 GHz(X -band)에서 급천 동축선로의 특성임피던스를 50$\Omega$에서 20$\Omega$까지 lO$\Omega$씩 변화시켜 가며 계산한 결과 특성임피던스가 30$\Omega$인 경우 11 GHz-14 GHz의 넓은 주파수 영역에서 반사손실이 -25 dB 이상의 좋은 특성을 보인다. 또한 corrugation이 있을 때 방사패턴의 지향성이 개선되며 개구변에서의 위상오차가 감소됨을 확인하였다.

The AGN-Starburst Connection traced by the Nitrogen Abundance

  • The connection between the active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and star formation activity is one of the most important issues in understanding the coevolution of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) and galaxies. In our recent study, by using SDSS quasar spectra we found that the emission-line flux rations involving a nitrogen line, i.e., $NV{\lambda}1240$, correlate with the Eddington ratio. This correlation suggests that the mass accretion into SMBH is associated with a post-starburst phase, when AGB stars enrich the interstellar medium with the nitrogen. Moreover, we focused on nitrogen-loud quasars, which have prominent emission lines of the nitrogen, to investigate whether this argument is correct or not. We will present our recent results described above and discuss the relation between the star formation and feeding to SMBHs.

전송로의 직렬리앤턴스 산정 시 Carson 모델의 적용범위 검토 (Study of the Applicability of the Carson Line Model for the Series Reactance Calculation of the Power Feeding Lines with no Ground Return)

  • In this paper, it is shown that Carson's equation can still be applied for the calculation of the series reactance of transmission lines with no ground return current as well as the one with ground return. It is proved in the following method. First two voltage drop equations for three-phase three wire transmission line are derived, one without considering ground return and the other using Carson's equation. The impedance matrix of the two equations are different from each other. But if we put the condition of zero ground current, $I_a+I_b+I_c=0$, those two equations becomes the identical equations. Therefore even a transmission line is not grounded, its line parameters can still be obtained using the Carson's equation. It has been confused whether or not Carson's equation can be used for an ungrounded system. It is because where ever Carson's equation is shown in the book, it also says that the system has ground return current paths as a premise. It is also verified with EMTP studies on the test circuit.
