와추적 위상평균 기법을 이용한 원주후류의 PIV측정 (PIV Measurement of Circular Cylinder Wake Using Vortex Tracking Phase-Average Technique)

  • A new phase-average technique using instantaneous velocity fields obtained by a PIV method has been developed. The technique tracks vorticity centers and estimates the value of circulation for a chosen domain. The locations of vortex-centers and the magnitudes of circulation are matched together then showing a sine wave feature due to the periodic vortex shedding from the circular cylinder. Ensemble averaged and phase averaged velocity fields are successfully measured for the circular cylinder wake where Reynolds number is 3900 based on free stream velocity and cylinder diameter. The convection velocities of the vortices center and the vortex shedding frequency were measured by a single hot-wire probe.

  • This paper proposes a calculation of compensation current using phase shift to eliminate ripple components of instantaneous active power under unbalanced or non-linear loads condition. The proposed phase shift method instead of existing method(LPF; Low Pass Filter) to remove ripple components and this proposed method improves performances of transient and steady state response. To compare proposed method with existing method, experiments have been done for calculating an average active power at load side. Their results show that transient response and steady state response of proposed method is improved.

  • $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ powder, which is not synthesized by solid reaction method, was successfully synthesized through PVA solution method. In this process, the firing temperature and the PVA content strongly affected the crystallization behavior and final particle size. A stable ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ was synthesized at a firing temperature of $1200^{\circ}C$ and holding time of 4 h. ${\beta}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ was observed, with un-reacted $ZrO_2$ phases, for firing temperatures lower than $1200^{\circ}C$. In terms of the PVA content effect, the powder prepared with a PVA mixing ratio of 12:1 showed stable ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$; however, the ${\beta}$-phase was found to co-exist at relatively higher PVA content. The synthesized ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ powder showed an average particle size of 100~250 nm and an average thermal expansion coefficient of $-2.5{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ in the range of room temp. ${\sim}800^{\circ}C$.

  • Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three power systems. However, voltage unbalance is generated at the user's 3-phase 4-wire distribution systems with single & three phase. Voltage unbalance is mainly affected by load system rather than power system. Unbalanced voltage will draws a highly unbalanced current and results in the temperature rise and the low output characteristics at the machine. It is necessary to analyse correct voltage unbalance factor for reduction of side effects in the industrial sites. Voltage unbalance is usually defined by the maximum percent deviation of voltages from their average value, by the method of symmetric components or by the expression in a more user-friendly form which requires only the three line voltage readings. If the neutral point is moved by the unbalanced load at the 3-phase 4-wire system. Line and phase voltage unbalance leads to different results due to zero-sequence component. So that it is difficult to analyse voltage unbalance factor by the conventional analytical method, This paper presents a new analytical method for phase and line voltage unbalance factor in 4-wire systems. Two methods indicate exact results.

Comparing Feature Selection Methods in Spam Mail Filtering

  • In this work, we compared several feature selection methods in the field of spam mail filtering. The proposed fuzzy inference method outperforms information gain and chi squared test methods as a feature selection method in terms of error rate. In the case of junk mails, since the mail body has little text information, it provides insufficient hints to distinguish spam mails from legitimate ones. To address this problem, we follow hyperlinks contained in the email body, fetch contents of a remote web page, and extract hints from both original email body and fetched web pages. A two-phase approach is applied to filter spam mails in which definite hint is used first, and then less definite textual information is used. In our experiment, the proposed two-phase method achieved an improvement of recall by 32.4% on the average over the $1^{st}$ phase or the $2^{nd}$ phase only works.

액상-기상 반응법에 의한 탄산칼슘 미분말의 합성과 형상제어 (Synthesis and Shape Control of Calcium Carbonate Fine Powders by Liquid-Gas Reaction Method)

  • Calcium carbonate fine powders were synthesized by blowing CO2 gas in CaO or Ca(OH)2 suspension, and the shapes of powders obtained were examined for each synthetic condition. When water was used as a solvent, ultrafine calcite powders with the average size of∼0.03$\mu\textrm{m}$ were obtained. When synthesized using methanol as a solvent, amorphous phase and spherical vaterite phase were obtained by suction filtering and non-filtering, respectively. Reaction did not occured in ethanol medium, but spherical vaterite phase was obtained by adding ethylene glycol in ethanol.

ART의 위상 정보를 이용한 형태기반 영상 검색 방법 (A Shape Based Image Retrieval Method using Phase of ART)

  • 영상에 포함된 객체의 형태는 내용 기반 영상검색에 있어서 중요한 정보를 가지고 있기 때문에, 이를 이용하여 영상을 검색하는 방법들이 활발히 연구되어 왔다. 그중에서도 최근에 제안된 저니키 모멘트의 위상과 크기를 이용하는 회전불변 서술자(IZMD: Invariant Zernike moment descriptor)을 이용한 영상 검색 방법은 기존의 크기 정보만을 이용한 저니키 모멘트 서술자보다 높은 영상 검색 성능을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 IZMD를 이용한 방법 보다 향상된 영상 검색 성능을 얻기 위해서 ART(Angular Radial Transform)의 크기와 위상을 이용한 회전 불변 특징 서술자(IARTD: Invariant Angular Radial Transform Descriptor)와 이를 이용해서 영상을 정합하는 방법을 제안한다. IARTD는 ART 기저함수의 특성을 이용해서 정렬된 ART 계수의 위상과 크기로 구성된 특징벡터이다. 영상의 검색은 두 IARTD의 크기차이와 위상차이의 곱을 이용하여 정의된 거리 계산 방법을 이용해서 수행한다. MPEG-7 데이터셋을 이용한 실험 결과, 제안하는 방법의 평균 BEP(Bull's Eye performance)는 0.5806으로서, ARTD나 IZMD를 이용한 영상 검색 결과의 평균 BEP 0.3574, 0.4234보다 우수한 검색 성능을 제공하는 것을 확인하였다.

Evaluation of Rotary Composting Technique for Animal Wastes

  • In order to investigate the compost process and the evaporating phenomenon, a rotary reversing compost system has been tested in a swine farm. During the summer season, the compost temperature was varied in the range of 50~$60^{\circ}C.$ and the ash content was increased by 12.8 % with the average of 24.7 % at the end of phase. In the winter season, the compost temperature was varied in the range of 40~$57^{\circ}C.$ and the ash content was increased to 8.5 % showing the average of 18 % at the end of phase. In summer, the compost facility could handle all of the animal waste, but it could not handle 1/4~1/3 of the animal excrement during the winter. The required amount of sawdust by this method could be reduced to 1/3 than that of the mixing method at the beginning of compost process.

자석 형상 최적화를 통한 축방향 이상 횡자속형 전동기의 토크 특성 향상에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Torque Characteristics of a Rotatory Two-phase Transverse Flux Machine Optimizing the Shape of Rotor Pole)

  • Transverse flux machine(TFM) has been developed to drive a machine of large input power at low-speed. However, it has complicated structure and large torque ripple due to its inherent structure. In this paper the characteristics of torque of a rotatory two-phase TFM are analyzed by using the 3-dimensional finite element method and optimal design. This research shows that one of the effective design variables is the skew angle of permanent magnet. The skew angles of permanent magnet are optimized by using a genetic algorithm. It also shows that the proposed optimal skew magnet not only increases average torque but also decreases torque ripple of a rotatory two-phase TFM.
