  • Tolerance and pharmacolinetics after single-dose administration of DA-8159, a new selective PDE5 inhibitor under phase 1 study, were examined in 42 healthy male volunteers in a six-period, double-blinded placebo-controlled study. Participants received single oral tablet of DA-8159 (12.5 to 300mg) or placebo. Adverse effects and pharmacokinetic parameters were monitored during experiments. DA-8159 was well tolerated and the frequency of adverse events was dose-related. (omitted)

  • B cell translocation gene-1 (Btg-1), originally discovered from chromosomal translocation in chronic B-cell lymphocytic leukemia. belongs to the APRO family. Btg-1 exhibit antiproliferative function. being expressed during the $G_{0}/G_{1}$ transition phase of cell cycle. Btg-1 is fully expressed in quiescent and differentiated cells. while the protein expression decreases as the cell progresses through the cell cycle. (omitted)

  • Enzyme-linked immunoassay system using monoclonal antibody (MAb) has become an important methodology for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of drugs and phytochemical compounds having small molecular weight. In this study, monoclonal antibodies against berberine, one of main constituent of Phellodendron amurense, Coptis japonica and Corydalis turtschaninovii, were produced. (omitted)

  • Cardiovascular disease is at present the leading cause of deth in the United States and other in dustrilized countries. A major contributing factor of cardiovascular disease is essential hypertension. Untreated, essential hypertension is considered a risk factor for sudden death due to myocardial infarctions, as well as a risk factor for cerebral vascular disease, renal failure and congestive heart failure. During the last decade, significant progress has been made in the basic knowledge of the pathogenesis of hypertension as well as in the development of new antihypertensive drugs.

  • To find out the rheological characteristics of several pharamaceutical semisolid products, experiments were carriedout over the temperature range of 20 to 30 .deg.C . From continuous shear rheograms obtained with a Ferranti-Shirley cone and plate viscometer, loop area, shear rates, ryild values, limiting viscosities and activation energies were calculated. The systems were metastable and their viscosity decreased with time. As the temperature was raised, products studied showed a decrease in viscosity and yield value.

  • The ethanol extracts of mixed vegetables (Bioactive V, BV), mixed fruits (Bioactive F, BF) and its liquid formulation (Chungpae Plus$\circledR$) were evaluated for their antioxidative and antigenotoxic activity. They were shown to possess the significant free radical scavenging effect against l,l-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazine (DPPH) radical generation and were revealed to show the inhibitory effect of lipid peroxidation as measured by malondialdehyde (MDA) formation. • Mammalian cell cycles are tightly regulated by cyclins, cyclin dependent kinase (CDK), Retinoblatoma (Rb) protein, and cellular CDK inhibitors (CDKI). Cyelin dependent kinases (CDK) are key enzymes regulating eukaryotic cell cycle. And also it is recognized that the abnormal increase of CDK activities is one of the common events in human cancer and CDK inhibitors have therapeutic values in cancer treatment. Until now it is known that over 10 different CKDs participate in cell cycle regulation. (omitted)
