When we are estimate the smoothing parameter in spline regression model, we deal the diagnostic of influence observations as posteriori analysis. When we use Generalized Maximum Likelihood Function as the estimation method of smoothing parameter, we propose the diagnostic measure for influencial observations in the obtained estimate, and we introduce the finding method of the proper smoothing parameter estimate.
The scattering problem of the randomly rough surface is examined by the method of moments(MoM), small perturbation method (SPM), integral equation method (IEM) and the semi-empirical polarimetic model. To apply the numerical technique of the MoM to microwave scattering from a rough surface, at first, many independent randomly rough surfaces with a rms height and a correlation length are generated with Gaussian random deviate. Then, an efficient Monte Carlo simulation technique is applied to estimate the scattering coefficients of the surfaces.
We present the three-dimensional genus topology of large-scale structure using the CMASS sample of the Final SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) data. To estimate the uncertainties in the measured genus, we very carefully construct mock CMASS surveys along the past light cone from the Horizon Run 3. We find that the shape of the observed genus curve agrees very well with the prediction of perturbation theory and with the mean topology of the mock surveys. However, comparison with simulations show that the observed genus curve slightly deviates from the theoretical Gaussian expectation. From the deviation, we further quantify the primordial non-Gaussian contribution.
In this paper we consider the M/M/1 Queue with mean inter arrival time $\theta$. We derive a sample path estimator for the derivative of steady state mean system time with respect to $\theta$. We also show that the derived sample path estimate can be expressed as a sum of the IPA estimate and the other effect. We have a similar result for the derivative of limiting probability $P_k$ with respect to $\theta$.

In this paper, we propose a ne weighted backward covariance matrix method to enhance the resolution for direction-of-arrival(DOA) estimation. The proposed method (MEVM:modified eigenvector method) is an enhanced covariance matrix method which is an extended form of the conventional covariance matrix. We analyze the effect of using the weighted forward-baskward covariance matrix on the performance of the eigenvector method(EVM). By comparing the perturbation angle of the noise-subspace, we show that the spectral estimate obtained using the proposed method is less distorted than the spectral estimate obtained using the conventional EVM. The simulation results show that the new method is more accurate and has better resolution than the conventional EVM under the same noise conditions.
Even though current microlensing follow-up observations focus on high-magnification events due to the high efficiency of planet detection, it is very difficult to do a confident detection of planets in high-magnification events with extremely weak central perturbations (i.e., the fractional deviation is ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$). For the confident detection of planets in the extremely weak central perturbation events, it is needed both the high cadence monitoring and the high photometric accuracy. A next-generation ground-based observation project, KMTNet (Korea Microlensing Telescope Network), satisfies both the conditions. Here we investigate how well planets in high-magnification events with extremely weak central perturbations are detected by KMTNet. First, we determine the probability of occurrence of events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$. From this, we find that for ${\leq}100M_E$ planets in the separation of $0.2AU{\leq}d{\leq}20AU$, events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$ occur with a frequency of more than 70%, in which d is the projected planet-star separation. Second, we estimate the efficiency of detecting planetary signals in the events with ${\delta}{\leq}0.02$ via KMTNet. We find that for main-sequence and subgiant source stars, ${\geq}1M_E$ planets can be detected more than 50% in a certain range that has the efficiency of ${\geq}10%$ and changes with the planet mass.
The mathematical adjoint solution of the Analytic Function Expansion (AFEN) method is found by solving the transposed matrix equation of AFEN nodal equation with only minor modification to the forward solution code AFEN. The perturbation calculations are then performed to estimate the change of reactivity by using the mathematical adjoint The adjoint calculational scheme in this study does not require the knowledge of the physical adjoint or the eigenvalue of the forward equation. Using the adjoint solutions, the exact and first-order perturbation calculations are peformed for the well-known benchmark problems (i.e., IAEA-2D benchmark problem and EPRI-9R benchmark problem). The results show that the mathematical adjoint flux calculated in the code is the correct adjoint solution of the AFEN method.

A multi-reference many-body perturbation theory (MRMBPT) method is critically tested in second order by comparing with the corresponding configuration interaction (CI) calculations. Excitation energies of the four-valence-electron states of transition metal atoms and ions are used for the comparison. The agreement between the second order MRMBPT and CI calculations is very reasonable, confirming the reliability of the second order MRMBPT method. The reliability of calculations with the present second order MRMBPT method was only been inferred empirically in the past since most results have been gauged by the agreement with experiment and/or with other MRMBPT calculations based upon different sets of orbitals and configuration spaces. The present MRMBPT method appears to be an efficient ab initio multi-reference method for the calculation of electron correlation effects in atoms and molecules, and it is shown how MRMBPT can be used to estimate core-core and core-valence correlation effects which are often omitted in CI calculations because too many configurations and correlating electrons are involved.
The nonlinear snap-through buckling of functionally graded (FG) carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) curved tubes is analytically investigated in this research. It is assumed that the FG-CNTRC curved tube is supported on a three-parameter nonlinear elastic foundation and is subjected to the uniformly distributed pressure and thermal loads. Properties of the curved nanocomposite tube are distributed across the radius of the pipe and are given by means of a refined rule of mixtures approach. It is also assumed that all thermomechanical properties of the nanocomposite tube are temperature-dependent. The governing equations of the curved tube are obtained using a higher-order shear deformation theory, where the traction free boundary conditions are satisfied on the top and bottom surfaces of the tube. The von Kármán type of geometrical non-linearity is included into the formulation to consider the large deflection in the curved tube. Equations of motion are solved using the two-step perturbation technique for nanocomposite curved tubes which are simply-supported and clamped. Closed-form expressions are provided to estimate the snap-buckling resistance of FG-CNTRC curved pipes rested on nonlinear elastic foundation in thermal environment. Numerical results are given to explore the effects of the distribution pattern and volume fraction of CNTs, thermal field, foundation stiffnesses, and geometrical parameters on the instability of the curved nanocomposite tube.

A methodology to nondestructively locate and estimate size of damage in beam-type structures using a few natural frequencies or a few mode shapes is presented. A damage-localization algorithm to locate damage from changes in natural frequencies and a damage-sizing algorithm to estimate crack-size from natural frequency perturbation are outlined. A damage index algorithm to localize and estimate severity of damage from monitoring changes in mode shapes is outlined. The frequency-based method and the mode-shape-based method are evaluated for several damage scenarios by locating and sizing damage in PS concrete beams lot which a few natural frequencies and mode shapes are generated from finite element models. The result of the analyses indicates that the two methods correctly localize and closely estimate the size of the crack simulated in the test beam.
