Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a computer access assessment tool for persons with physical disabilities and to evaluate reliability and validity. Methods: We developed a computerized Computer access Assessment Program (CAP) through many kinds of literature review and tools analysis for evaluation of computer access, task analysis of fundamental input devices operation and expert review. The CAP data were obtained from 105 normal university students and 16 students with physical disabilities. The test items of CAP are composed of four timed mouse tasks, four timed keyboard tasks, and a timed scanning task. Thus, the software measures user performance in skills needed for computer interaction, such as keyboard and pointer use, navigating through menus, and scanning. To determine the validity of these measurements, we compared data on CAP reports to a Compass report. Compass software allows an evaluator for assessment of an individual's computer input skills. Results: Results of this study showed that the CAP had high internal consistency, reliability of test-retest, concurrent validity, and convergent validity. Conclusion: Therefore, the CAP is appropriate for evaluation and determination of computer access skill of persons with physical disabilities. It is possible to get clear quantitative data on performance when providing computer access services if you can use the CAP data. Using this quantitative evidence, insights can be gained into the specific nature of any difficulties experienced by persons with physical disabilities and find wise solutions.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the effectiveness and the necessity of home visiting physical therapy through examining performance ability and functional changes in daily life activities by investigating the life of disabled persons living at home. Methods: After selecting 100 people with physical disabilities greater than level 3 and brain damage related disabilities living in Youngam-Gun, we conducted mobility tests according to a Modified Bathel Index (MBI), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and floor and bed movements? for Activities of Daily Living evaluation. We did this before the experiment and after doing home visiting physical therapy for 90 minutes at a time, once a week for 6 months Results: 1) Persons who live in a bed are higher than those who live in a floor. There was a significant difference between persons who live in a floor and those who live in a bed in the change in MBI and BBS scores after home visiting physical therapy. 2) Those with a musculoskeletal disorder had a significantly different change in MBI and BBS according to the type of disease and kind of disability. Those with neuropathy had a significantly different change in MBI. Those with physical disabilities showed a significant difference in MBI and BBS. Conclusion: A home visiting physical therapist can cause an improved performance ability and lead to the ability of disabled persons living at home to carry out activities of daily livingin a large part and the study for brain lesion disabilities except physical disabilities and stroke which occupy large proportion of disabled persons should be done.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the employment policy for persons with disabilities, and to propose a policy development plan to promote employment of persons with disabilities in North Korea. For this purpose, this study reviewed the laws and employment status related in persons with disabilities in North Korea through literature studies and secondary data analysis as the context of the policy analysis. Since then, North Korea's employment policy for persons with disabilities was analyzed according to the framework of Gilbert and Specht(1974). The results of this study are as follows. First, the benefits of the North Korean employment policy for persons with disabilities are employment benefits and vocational skills development benefits. Second, segregated employment is mainly composed of employment policy for persons with disabilities. Third, the allocation of employment policy for persons with disabilities is centered on persons with mild and physical disabilities. Fourth, the delivery system of employment policy for persons with disabilities is segmented around the Cabinets and the People's Committee of each municipality. Based on the results of this analysis, this study suggests the development of employment policy for persons with disabilities in North Korea through the revision of regulations, the diversification of benefits, and the reorganization of delivery systems.

This article examines the accessibility and usability of library websites to students with visual and physical disabilities in public universities in Kenya. The study used survey research design and adopted a mixed methods approach. Data were gathered using survey questionnaire, focus group discussions, structured interviews, and observation. The study population consisted of six public universities that had a longstanding tradition of enrolling students with disabilities. Census was used to obtain a study sample comprising of students with visual disabilities (86), students with physical disabilities (91), University Librarians (6), Personnel from Disability Mainstreaming departments (6), Systems Librarians (6) and Library Personnel who provided information services to students with disabilities (133). The Social Model of Disability and IFLA Access to Libraries for Persons with Disabilities checklist were used as conceptual and theoretical framework in the study. Study results revealed that all the libraries had library websites. However, the websites did not have disability services page or information specific to individuals with disabilities. Also a section of students with disabilities lacked awareness of the existence of library websites and e-resources available through them. Additionally, the website design posed various access challenges. The study concluded that people with disabilities were excluded from access and use of library websites in public universities. The authors recommended that library websites must contain disability services page containing information specific to persons with disabilities. Moreover, libraries should evaluate their websites to ensure compliance with W3C requirements for web content accessibility. Additionally, libraries should develop disability policy to provide guidance on provision of information services to persons with disabilities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the impairments of body structures, activity limitation, and participation restriction. In addition, we wanted to provide basic data on correlation between impairments of body structures, activity, and participation in Disabled Persons Living at Home. Methods: After selection of 128 people with physical disabilities more than the third level and brain damage disabilities living at home, we conducted testing for impairments of body structures, activity, and participation, according to the ICF checklist. Results: Impairments of body structures was highest in the upper and lower extremity. 2) Mobility, domestic life, and self care were more limited. 3) Also, the structure related to movement showed correlation with mobility, domestic life, and self care. Conclusion: We observed differences in participation and activities of persons with disabilities Living at Home depending on the impairments of body structures. After thorough review of the status of Disabled Persons Living at Home, we decided to appropriate support and social services.
Background: This study examined the effect of having a usual source of care on the degree of patient-centered communication among persons with disability. The role of the usual source of care has been emphasized to improve patient experience, especially for patients with complex health conditions. Methods: This study used the 2017-2018 Korean Health Panel data, and the final study observations were 22,475 (20,806 people without disability and 1,669 people with disability). We applied generalized estimating equation model to show the effect of having a usual source of care on patient-centered communication, and subgroup analysis considering the types and severity of disabilities. Results: Persons who have disabilities, compared with ones without it, significantly had more usual sources of care (32.4% vs. 24.6%). By type of disability, persons with mental (51.4%), internal organ (43.8%), visual (37%), and physical disabilities (31.6%) had more usual sources of care than hearing/speech (26.6%), and developmental disabilities (18.6%). The average score of patient-centered communication was higher among who had a usual sources of care (3.2 vs. 2.7), and the regression analysis showed that having a usual sources of care was positively associated with higher patient-centered communication score (𝛽=0.476, p<0.05). However, the positive effects of usual sources of care was not observed among persons with severe hearing/speech, developmental, and mental disabilities. Conclusion: This study showed that role of patient-centered communication was limited in persons with severe hearing/speech disabilities, developmental, and mental disabilities. The education programs and supports are needed to improve communication skills between medical staff and persons with specific types of disabilities.

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting mental health status according to gender of persons with physical disabilities and to try their healthy life. Using the 6th Korean Retirement and Income Study, 333 persons with physical disabilities were included in the study. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and regression analysis were conducted to examine the general characteristics, instrumental activities of daily living, material support, and the effects on mental health status. There was no statistically significant difference in mental health status by gender, but there was a difference in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and life satisfaction. In the case of males, instrumental daily activities performance, material support, depression, and life satisfaction were found to be influential. In the case of females, spouse, depression, and life satisfaction were factors affecting mental health status. Based on the results of this study, we will be able to understand persons with physical disabilities and use them as a basis for developing mental health promotion programs.

The purpose of the present study was to compare and analyze differences in job satisfaction and quality of life in relation to the use of movement assisters among workers with severe and slight external physical disabilities and to analyze the effect of job satisfaction on the quality of life of disabled persons who use movement assisters. First, severely disabled persons who used movement assisters showed higher degrees of satisfaction with their work content, working environments, working hours, possibilities for development, communication, and human relations. On the other hand, slightly disabled persons who used movement assisters showed higher degrees of satisfaction only with their working environments. Second, severely disabled persons who used movement assisters perceived a higher quality of life in the areas of family, residence, and work. Slightly disabled persons who used movement assisters perceived a higher quality of life only in the area of family. Third, workers with external physical disabilities who used movement assisters had positive effects on their quality of life arising from job satisfaction in relation to income, job stability, working environments, working hours, possibilities for job development, communication, and human relations that is, a higher job satisfaction was correlated with a higher perceived quality of life.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to develop a motivational interviewing program for exercise improvement in persons with physical disabilities and to examine the effect of this motivational interviewing intervention. Methods: The study employed a nonequivalent control group pretest and posttest design. A total of 62 persons with physical disabilities (30 in the experimental group, 32 in the control group) were recruited from 2 community rehabilitation centers. The experimental group received 8 sessions of a group motivational interviewing program, scheduled once a week, with each session lasting 60 minutes. Test measures were completed before the intervention, immediately after the end of the intervention, 2 weeks later, and 6 weeks after the end of the intervention. Measures included self-efficacy for exercise, decisional balance for exercise, stage of change for exercise, regularity of exercise, exercise maintenance, and independent living ability. Data were analyzed using the ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, Independent samples t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA, conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 18. Results: The experimental group showed a significant increase in self-efficacy for exercise (F=50.98, p<.001), benefit (pros) of exercise (F=24.16, p<.001), and independent living ability (F=50.94, p<.001), and a significant decrease in loss (cons) of exercise (F=26.50, p<.001). There were significant differences between the two groups in stages of change for exercise (p<.001), regularity of exercise (p<.001), and exercise maintenance (${\chi}^2=26.61$, p<.001). Conclusion: The motivational interviewing program has the potential to improve exercise levels in persons with physical disabilities.
This study was carried out to analyze the consumption expenditure condition of elderly persons with and without physical disabilities by social economic status and sociodemographic characteristics and to compare the results of those two groups for making an offer the basic materials to provide political support for elderly persons with physical disabilities. The statistical analysis of collected data was enforced through T-test, ANOVA and Crosstabs with SPSS 19.0 program. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the group with disabilities has presumed to be in relative poverty given that disposable income, academic career and total living expenses showed lower than the other group. Second, the component ratios of domestic foods and housing expenses of disabled group showed higher but those of specific spending items of expenditure such as social activities, reserving fund of social security for economic safety net, clothing and eating out expenses showed lower than the other group.
