  • Synchronous generator needs slip-ring and brush for supplying current to rotor with external source. but slip-ring and brush have some problems to supply DC power to field winding with friction and high power loss due to brush voltage drop at high field current. Thus synchronous generator have been designed to brushless machine. Brushless synchronous machines of using permanent halbach array can composed without back core and coreloss. In this paper, analyse on the characteristics of external rotor type permenant magnet brushless with halbach array.

  • This paper presents the vibration reduction of PMLSM according to permanent magnet array. The detent force and the lateral force arc generating the thrust ripple that cause vibration in PMLSM. The detent force, the thrust and the lateral force is analyzed by 3D FEM. And the acceleration sensor is used for experimentation of vibration.

  • This paper deals with a simulation and a position control for linear synchronous motor with Halbach array (HA) permanent magnet mover. The results of control simulation for HA-PMLSM having air-core primary are calculated using Matlab Simulink. The prototype of HA-PMLSM is tested DSP (TMS320F240 EVM).

  • This paper presents the normal force minimization design and the analysis of normal force effect which acts on the characteristics of the Synchronous Permanent Magnet Planar Motor (SPMPM) with new array. The experiments are applied to verify the analytical analysis. There is no doubt that the significant reduction of normal force and the experimental values dovetail nicely with the simulation.

  • This paper proposes a sensing system of the Halbach array permanent magnet spherical motor(PMSM). The rotor position can be obtained by solving three rotation angles, which revolves around 3 reference axes of the stator. With the development of 3-D hall sensor, the position identification problem of the Halbach array PMSM based on rotor magnetic field is studied in this paper. A nonlinear and serious coupling relationship between the rotation angles and the measured magnetic flux density is established on the basis of the rotation transformation theory and the magnetic field model. In order to get rid of the influence on position detection caused by the harmonics of rotor magnetic field and the stator coil magnetic field, a sensor location combination scheme is proposed. In order to solve the nonlinear equation fast and accurately, a new position solution algorithm which combines the merits of gradient projection and particle swarm optimization(PSO) is presented. Then the rotation angles are obtained and the rotor position is identified. The validity of the sensing system is verified through the simulation.

  • This paper proposes two kinds of the eddy current brake which uses permanent magnet. The one, like multipolar excitation consists of hexahedron shape of a segmented permanent magnetic and iron situated in the air-gap. The other, like multipolar excitation consists of only a segmented permanent magnetic. We use a finite element method to compute the flux distribution in the model. Also, we use the Galerkin-FEM with linear interpolation function may oscillate between the adjacent nodes to calculate the braking and attraction force. The advantages of the Halbach array are discussed.

  • This paper treated the design, manufacture and the performance characteristics under each mode of high speed motor/generator for an electro-mechanical battery(EMB). This machine is employed as an integral part of a flywheel energy storage system(FESS), i.e., a modular flywheel system to be used as a device for storing electrical or mechanical energy. In this machine, the magnetic field system is constructed by using special magnet array, dipole Halbach array with 16 permanent magnet segments and the armature is composed of a plastic bobbin and multi-phase windings with Litz wire. The magnet array produces a highly uniform dipole field without back iron. The motor/generator is 3-phase machine in which the dipole Halbach array surrounding the winding is rotating. Since there are no iron laminations, this field system offers some unique advantages for the simplicity of the design and the theoretical prediction of characteristics of a high speed electric machine. This paper describes the results obtained when EMB system was tested in the laboratory.

  • 자기부상형 리니어 모터와 비접촉 구동에 의한 크린룸 환경용 물류 운송장치를 개발하기 위하여 접촉 없이 완전하게 부상되는 자기부상레일을 개발하고자 하였다. 영구자석의 같은 극을 마주보게 배치할 때 생성되는 작용력에 의한 부상 특성을 파악하고, 해석을 통하여 외력 변화에 강인하고 부상위치의 변화가 작은 반발부상형 레일을 설계·제작하였다. 개발된 부상 레일은 고정자석 양면에서 서로 반발되게 자석을 배열하여 부상하는 구조로 상호 반발력에 의하여 평형이 이루어지기 때문에 부상체에는 횡력만 작용하게 된다. 부상계에서 발생되는 횡력은 부상체의 부상 중심 위치에 반발력을 이용한 보조자석을 설치하여 제어하고자 하였다.

  • Permanent magnet is applied to the mover of eddy current braking system for high speed. On the analytical 2D field solutions considering end effect, this paper deals with the magnetic field, and forces according to the secondary magnet array. Comparisons between analytical results and experimental results are also presented.

  • Eddy Current is one of ways to make heat using rotational energy of wind turbine rotor. Four difference arrays of permanent magnets around rotor surface are used to generate heat using eddy current in this study. For the evaluation of heating performance, new test rig is prepared to measure water flow and temperatures in the inlet and outlet of the eddy current heat generator. In the test, torque and rotational speed are also measured in the motor driven system, and evaluated if the torque is matched with it of wind turbine rotor or not. It will be shown that the eddy current heat generator can be applied to real urban wind energy systems in this study.
