  • This thesis takes an aim to investigate the relationship between the costume and enlightenment ideology by studying the change of costume, and reviewing the portraiture of Queen Marie Antoinette. The method of this research is to select the 29 pieces among the portraitures from 1770 to 1793, and to analyze the headdress, shape of robes and ornaments. The results are as follows. The first period(1770-1774): The costume in this period of Dauphin of France is described as vivid, and simple like her characters, and also represents her active lifestyle. The ideology of equality between the two sexes from the enlightenment slightly influence the costumes seen inside the portrait of Dauphin. The second period (1775-1779): This is the early period of the Queen's enthronement and also before her childbirth. The relatively small number of portraits showed her as an authoritative figure because her skirts were expanded with huge panier, the waist were tightened with corset, and her headdress was enlarged. Thus, this period could not be defined as the one of enlightenment philosophies in light of the persistent unsanitary construction of costumes distorting the body. The third period(1780-1789): There are many portraits depicting the Queen and her children. It is noteworthy that the English style picturesque garden was illustrated as a background while the costume was simple and sanitary, both being affected by the enlightenment. The last period(1789-1793): This is the period between the French revolution and the death of the Queen. The form of costumes was transformed into the neoclassic style, headdress was reduced in size, and was simplified as a result of complete change of costume for the enlightenment. This research is to be interpreted as a tool of study about the relationship of costume, society and ideological streams and also be a means of elucidating the contemporary times in view of the past ones.

  • It is known that the pattern of combustion temperature can be classified into preheating, heating. retaining and cooling periods. In this experiment. the authors have studied the heating mechanism by the density of moxa material during the heating and retaining periods. The starting point. the point at which it begins to reach the maximum gradient temperature. the ending point of the heating period. and the ending point of the retaining period were measured in order to get effective stmulation by repetition of moxa-combustion. For the experiment. samples of 300mg. 400mg, and 500mg of moxa material were molded into conical molds with each 10mm in diameter and height resulting in the volume of $0.26cm^3$. The following results were obtained: The $300mg/0.26cm^3$ denstiy sample reached al1 points tested faster than the samples of $400mg/0.26cm^3$ and $500mg/0.26cm^3$ It dose not reveal any statistical differences between $400mg/0.26cm^3$ and $500mg/0.26cm^3$ in the ending point. the point at which it begins to reach the maximum gradient temperature of the heating period or the ending point of the reataining period The only difference shown was in the starting point of the heating period. According to the above results. it is concluded that the lower density moxa material reached each point of the the respective period faster than the high density moxa material.

  • In this study, 2,238 incidents from History of the Three States, Prehistory of the Three States, History of Koryo, True Records of Chosun Dynasty had been analyzed in order to examine the bathing styles of Koreans. The results were as follows. In the period of Three States, baths were taken for the purposes of cleanness, remedy, and beauty culture as well as etiquettes. And spa, rainwater, rivers, streams, and bath tubs were used. In the period of Koryo, it included not only reasons for etiquettes as in the period of the Three States but also reasons for medical care and daily life. In spa, temples, and homes, baths were taken by using perfumes and towels. In Chosun Dynasty, daily baths were for hygiene, health, and bodily charms. Before religious ceremonies, they made sure that they took baths, and spa baths were popular for the medical care. The ways to take baths included the order which area was the first to be washed, time, and areas concretely, and seasons, weather, and conditions of body were considered before taking baths. Moreover, the places included natural places such as streams, reservoirs, rivers, as well as artificial places such as temples, places for envoys, and palaces. Especially, in spa areas, bathing buildings were constructed. Considering all these, baths were taken for the purposes of ceremonies and medical care in the period of the Three States, and daily baths took down their roots in the period of Koryo. In the period of Chosun Dynasty, spa baths for cures, prays and rituals, hygiene and bodily charms were considered as a reason. How to take baths and means were decided carefully. Therefore, the results above demonstrated that baths took down their roots in people's daily life in Korea since the period of Koryo.

  • In this study, we showed a comparison and analysis making use of DWI(diffusion weighted image) using early diagnosis of cerebral Infarction and with the classified T2 weighted image, FLAIR images signal intensity for brain infarction period. period of cerebral infarction after the condition of a disease by ischemic stroke. To compare 3 types of image, we performed polynomial warping and affined transform for image matching. Using proposed algorithm, calculated signal intensity difference between T2WI, DWI, FLAIR and DWI. The quantification values between hand made and calculated data are almost the same. We quantified the each period and performed pseudo color mapping by comparing signal intensity each other according to previously obtained hand made data, and compared the result of this paper according to obtained quantified data to that of doctors decision. The examined mean and standard deviation for each brain infarction stage are as follows ; the means and standard deviations of signal intensity difference between DWI and T2WI for each period are $197.7{\pm}6.9$ in hyperacute, $110.2{\pm}5.4$ in acute, and $67.8{\pm}7.2$ in subacute. And the means and standard deviations of signal intensity difference between DWI and FLAIR for each period are $199.8{\pm}7.5$ in hyperacute, $115.3{\pm}8.0$ in acute, and $70.9{\pm}5.8$ in subacute. We can quantificate and decide cerebral infarction period objectively. According to this study, DWI is very exact for early diagnosis. We classified the period of infarction occurrence to analyze the region of disease and normal region in DW, T2WI, FLAIR images.

  • The curd yogurt was prepared from milk added with skim milk powder or three Tongil rices of different storage period. The effect of storage period of rice on acid production by lactic acid bacteria in milk containing rice of 2%(w/v) was investigated. The effect of storage period of rice on quality of curd yogurt(sensory property, viscosity and keeping quality) was also examined. Addition of rice stimulated acid production by lactic acid bacteria more than control(milk yogurt). Storage period of rice did not significantly affect acid production by lactic acid bacteria though stimulating effect of rice on acid production was slightly different among species. Sensory property of curd yogurt added with rice was not significantly affected by storage period of rice. Apparent viscosity of curd yogurt added with rice increased in proportion to storage period of rice. Curd yogurt showed characteristics of thixotropic flow. When curd yogurt added with rice was kept at $5^{\circ}C$ for 15 days, its keeping quality was relatively good and was not markedly affected by storage period of rice.

  • This study examines the influence of long-range transport of dust particles and air pollutants on both local/regional DMS oxidation chemistry and the distribution of sulfur compounds at Jeju Island (33.17$^{\circ}$ N. 126.10$^{\circ}$ E) during the Asian dust-storm(ADS) period in April 2001. The atmospheric concentrations of these sulfur species were measured at a ground station on Jeju Island. Korea as Part of the ACE-Asia intensive operation. Three ADS events were observed during the periods of 10-12, 13-14. and 25-26 April. respectively. The concentrations of DMS and CS$_2$ were higher during the ADS period than during the non-Asian-dust-storm (NADS) period. Conversely. a difference in SO$_2$ levels during the ADS period was not distinguishable from those during the NADS period. The diurnal variation pattern of DMS observed was largely different from that in the remote marine boundary layer. DMS loss by NO$_3$ in the atmospheric boundary layer was dominant due to significantly high NOx levels influenced by the long-range transport of pollutants from East Asia to Jeju Island The DMS maximum during the ADS period was observed in the late afternoon. The oceanic fluxes of DMS during the ADS and NADS periods were estimated to be 5.7$\pm$2.3 and 2.9 (+2.8/-1.5) mole m$^{-2}$ day$^{-1}$ . respectively. The contribution of oxidized DMS to SO$_2$ levels at Jeju Island during the study period was found to be insignificant.

  • The Gaya Period is the period in which the nations of Gaya had existed in the Gimhae area. The term 'The Period of the Three Nations', which is widely used, is inappropriate because in ancient Korea, Gaya also existed besides Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla. This term should be corrected for the accurate reconstruction of the history of ancient Korea. Of course, the term 'The Gaya Period' cannot replace 'The Period of the Three Nations'. It just means the period in which the nations of Gaya existed. The Gaya Period refers to the period of about 600 years from about the first century, in which several nations of Gaya began to appear in the Gyeongsangnamdo area, through the falls of Daegarak of Kimhae in 532 A.D. and Daegaya of Goryeong in 562. When doing this, there should be no distortion of the original form of the relics. With the application of traditional techniques and excellent relics, it is believed that it helps to create the high added values by putting culture and tourism together with the development of various designs of cultural goods. To suggest possibility of scarf designs by completing protype from idea scatch.
