  • Postoperative cardiac performance of cyanotic congenital heart disease is somewhat different from that of other cardiac diseases. For the evaluation of postoperative cardiac performance in the cyanotic congenital heart disease we measured cardiac output by thermodilution technique at 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 36, 48 postoperative hours in 14 patients operated from Feb. 1989 to Nov. 1989 in The Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Seoul National University Children`s Hospital. At the same time, we checked left atrial pressure [LAP], central venous pressure [CUP], and mixed venous oxygen saturation [SvO2] to detect correlation between them. Immediate postoperative cardiac index was 3.585 $\pm$ 0.945 L/min/m2, and it decreased maximally to 3.322$\pm$1.007 L/min/m2 at postoperative 16 hours. After then it increased and stabilized from 36 hours after operation, and its value was 4.426$\pm$1.358 L/min/m2. There were no correlations between cardiac index and left atrial pressure or central venous pressure. Between mixed venous oxygen saturation and cardiac index, there was no correlation in the early postoperative period but after postoperative 16 hours, there was significant correlation between them and correlation coefficients were 0.573 [16hrs], 0.743 [20hrs], 0.436 [24hrs], 0.560 [36hrs], 0.636 [48hrs], respectively. From these results, we concluded that in the corrective surgery of cyanotic congenital heart disease, cardiac performance was depressed in the early postoperative period. It improved from postoperative 16 hours, and stabilized from 36 hours after operation. During early postoperative period, mixed venous oxygen saturation should not be used as a predictor of cardiac performance but it could be used as a predictor of cardiac performance from 16 hours after operation.

  • Adaptive OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) improves data capacity and system performance over multipath fading by adaptively changing modulation schemes according to channel state information(CSI). To achieve a good performance in adaptive OFDM systems, CSI should be transmitted from receiver to transmitter in real time through feedback channel. However, practically, the CSI feedback delay d which is the sum of the data processing delay and the propagation delay is not negligible and damages to the reliability of CSI such that the performance of adaptive OFDM is degraded. This paper presents an adaptive OFDM system with a multistep predictor on the frequency axis to effectively compensate the multiple feedback delays $d(\geq2)$. Via computer simulation we compare the proposed scheme and existing adaptive OFDM schemes with respect to data capacity and system performance.

  • Groupware technologies have become an important part of the business computing infrastructure in many organizations, but many groupware applications, especially those requiring significant collaboration among users, are still nut adequately used. The purpose of the paper is to explore the impact of groupware on the job performance. Recently, utilization of new information technology such as groupware can increase office productivity, but often this potential is not realized. Results of most studies indicate that groupware could increase the productivity of knowledge workers, who compose the majority of the labor force in the organization. The study on the impact of job characteristics on groupware and job performance is not sufficient. This study examines the influence of job characteristics such as job diversity, autonomy, and feedback on the use of groupware and job performance. In addition to that, this study examines the influence of the use of groupware on job performance. The results of regression analyses revealed that feedback was the major predictor of job performance, while autonomy and job diversity were the Haler predictors of the use of groupware. Also, the use of groupware were found to be important predictors of job performance.

  • From a cognitive perspective, this study investigates the role of emergent leaders in developing team cognition and affecting team performance. With application of the cognitive complexity theory, this study hypothesizes that emergent leaders' cognitive complexity will be positively associated with team cognitive complexity, and that team cognitive complexity will be positively associated with team performance. In addition, team cognitive complexity is hypothesized to mediate the effect of the cognitive complexity of emergent leaders on team performance. To test the research hypotheses, data were obtained from 100 teams comprising a total of 339 undergraduate students who participated in a business simulation game. The findings of this study suggests that the cognitive complexity of emergent leaders is a significant predictor of team cognitive complexity, and that team cognitive complexity is positively related to team performance. Moreover, team cognitive complexity significantly mediates the effect of emergent leaders' cognitive complexity and team performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive partition cache replacement policy and evaluate the performance of our scheme using various monitoring ratios to help lifetime extension of non-volatile main memory systems without performance degradation. The proposal combines conventional LRU (Least Recently Used) replacement policy and Early Eviction Zone (E2Z), which considers a dirty bit as well as LRU bits to select a candidate block. In particular, this paper shows the performance of non-volatile memory using various monitoring ratios and determines optimized monitoring ratio and partition size of E2Z for reducing the number of writebacks using cache hit counter logic and hit predictor. In the experiment evaluation, we showed that 1:128 combination provided the best results of writebacks and runtime, in terms of performance and complexity trade-off relation, and our proposal yielded up to 42% reduction of writebacks, compared with others.

  • Recently, increasing attention has been paid to building the software quality and software productivity due to ongoing software crisis. To overcome such problem, one of the many alternatives is to use the capability maturity model (CMM) suggested by the Software Engineering Institute(SEI), focusing on the improvement of software progress. This research is proposed the theoretical framework for CMM based on the previous studies, and review the status of software process on the software development organization. We then examine the impact of the software process capability on the organizational performance including financial measures and non-financial measures. Hypotheses on software process capability were tested 144 organizational units. The 62.5% of foreign companies are distribute to the second and third level, the Korean firms in this study are indicated the first level. Result indicate that maturity of software process may be served the key predictor of organizational performance, in particular the positive relationship between the software process and non-financial performance index such as customer service, IT Infrastructure, marketing, supplier and purchaser, production and operation.

  • This research performed the empirical test for the effects of sales performance on salesperson's job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and need for achievement using 375 salesperson samples in Korea. Analyzed direct effects among the factors and mediation effects of organizational commitment and need for achievement as well. Results showed that job satisfaction have a significant positive (+) impact on organizational commitment and sales performance, and organizational commitment significant positive influence on need for achievement. However, organizational commitment have no significant effect on sales performance. Need for achievement have a significant direct effect on sales performance positively and have mediation effect between organizational commitment and sales performance. For the mediating effect, organizational commitment have significant result between job performance and need for achievement, but have no significance between job performance and sales performance. This paper suggest that the implications. First, this research exam integrated and detailed analyze for job satisfaction, organizational commitment, need for achievement, and sales performance including the results of verified in precedent study. Second, identify job satisfaction and need for achievement are important factors on salesperson's performance and find out through the empirical test the importance having balance of satisfaction of salesperson's own job and need for achievement in the sales field rather than consider only organizational commitment. Third, in the existing research, high need for achievement increase organizational commitment as a predictor of organizational commitment factor. In this research, claim that organizational commitment also become as a predictor of need for achievement and high organizational commitment make need for achievement higher. Consequently, need for achievement and organizational commitment be interact with each other and significant effect on sales performance of sales force.
