Recently, a high-strength strand of 2400 MPa was developed using domestic technologies. In 2011, KS D 7002 was revised to cover the newly developed high-strength strands to support their practical usage. Presently, however, discussions and evaluations are not sufficient on the mechanical properties of the strands and their performance in structural members. Also, there were no detailed reviews on the need to revise the current design code for practical use of the high-strength strands. In this study, flexural behavior of a member with the high-strength strands was estimated through sectional analysis and a review and comparison of the domestic and foreign design codes were conducted considering the analysis results. Also, the need for the revision of the design code was discussed. Such discussion especially focused on the estimation of the stress in strand, which related with various issues such as determination methods for yield point of strands, time-dependent loss of prestressing force, estimation of stress in strand at member failure, and net strain limit for ductile failure of member. The discussion revealed that some parts in the design code need a revision and the further studies are required.

Government agencies including the national police agency have executed diverse efforts including continuous improvements of traffic facilities and operation methods, education, enforcements in order to improve traffic operation systems; nevertheless there have been continuous criticisms on irrationality in traffic signal and road facility operation. One of the reasons may be the lack of systematic preliminary evaluations on various alternatives. However, there was no appropriate tool to evaluate the mobility and safety of thus alternatives in a systematic way. Therefore, this study proposes the systematic use of microscopic traffic simulation models as a comprehensive evaluation tool. In addition, this study verified the potential of using a microscopic traffic simulation model using the case of operating an overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane through a systematic way where the evaluation was conducted through data collection, building networks, calibrating microscopic simulation models, producing performance measures, evaluating mobility and safety, and so on. As a result, the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane showed no big difference from other operation scenarios such as leading left-turn on exclusive left turn lane in terms of mobility. However the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane decreased safety by increasing potential conflicts.
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to find out the effect of changes in the differentiated "servicescape" on the business performance in the hair salon industry using a case study. For this, we selected hair salon M located in Suwon. The shop is innovatively different from existing shops in terms of spatial layout and functionality. We conducted in-depth research, beginning with the launch of the shop concept through investment and ongoing stable sales. Research design, data, and methodology - The M hair salon is a start up shop providing a differentiated servicescape (physical environment where the service takes place) located in Suwon, Yeongtong-gu. We conducted research to investigate how spatial layout and functionality of the servicescape impact customers' perceived quality. The interview period and case analysis was May 2014 through March 2015, covering 11 months. To conduct the case analysis, we analyzed the spatial layout and functionality of existing shops and interviewed customers and experts about the difference between hair salon M and existing shops. Results - Our results found clues to the positive effect of spatial layout and functionality among servicescape factors on perceived service quality at the salon. The shop showed a fast payback of the principal investment, growth potential in contrast to competitors near the salon, and 45 percent returning customers. The problem with the spatial layout at existing shops was that customers were aware of the way other people were looking at them, since viewing angles overlapped, therefore there was a limitation to the relationship intensity with an exclusive hair designer. In contrast, the layout of the stands at the M salon kept the number of dressing stands limited to maximize the customer's emotional response. Additionally, because of the new layout of dressing stands hiding other customer voices and appearance in the salon, customers perceived their service space as independent. Therefore, they did not have to focus on their personal emotional response, which was one of the advantages of the new layout. Conclusions - This study conducted case study analysis by offering a new perspective focusing on spatial layout, previously not considered as an independent variable of quality evaluations and customer satisfaction in existing literature on hair salon management. Therefore, this study contributes to the field by offering an opportunity to discover the causal relationships between the overlooked physical environment and a customer's perceived quality. However, a process objectifying the results of the study through empirical analysis and hypotheses is needed to overcome the limitations of the case study approach and generalize the results. Moreover, it would be beneficial to conduct further empirical study of the relationship between the spatial layout provided in the case and a customer's emotional response and change in mood. In addition, an analysis is needed regarding how customers feel about the factors using the Kano Model. These suggestions would be considered in further study.

Short-term prediction of travel speed has been widely studied using data-driven non-parametric techniques. There is, however, a lack of research on the prediction aimed at urban areas due to their complex dynamics stemming from traffic signals and intersections. The purpose of this study is to develop a hybrid approach combining ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and artificial neural network (ANN) for predicting urban travel speed. The EEMD decomposes the time-series data of travel speed into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and residue. The decomposed IMFs represent local characteristics of time-scale components and they are predicted using an ANN, respectively. The IMFs can be predicted more accurately than their original travel speed since they mitigate the complexity of the original data such as non-linearity, non-stationarity, and oscillation. The predicted IMFs are summed up to represent the predicted travel speed. To evaluate the proposed method, the travel speed data from the dedicated short range communication (DSRC) in Daegu City are used. Performance evaluations are conducted targeting on the links that are particularly hard to predict. The results show the developed model has the mean absolute error rate of 10.41% in the normal condition and 25.35% in the break down for the 15-min-ahead prediction, respectively, and it outperforms the simple ANN model. The developed model contributes to the provision of the reliable traffic information in urban transportation management systems.
Reinforced concrete structures under sever conditions such as marine structures, bridges and structures constructed with aggregates(dredged from sea), can be deteriorated from corrosion of the reinforcing bars. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-corrosive performance of coated steel using polymer cement slurry. Polymer cement slurry with various polymer dispersions and corrosion inhibiting agent were coated to the surface of bars, and tested for accelerated corrosion tests. Tests include immersion in NaCl 10% solution, chloride ion spray, autoclave cure, autoclave cure after carbonation, penetration of NaCl 10 % solution, carbonation after penetration of NaCl 10% solution. Test results, show that the anti-corrosive performace is considerably improved by using polymer cement slurry at surface of steel. And this trend is marked by adding of corrosion inhibiting agent. This difference of the anti-corrosive properties is hardly recognized according to types of polymer dispersions. The coated steel using polymer cement slurry will be improved to a great extent compared to those of plain steel when increasing content of chloride ion in cement concrete.
Subjective mental workload assessment technique becomes a standard human factors and human-machine interface evaluation tool for the evaluation of ITS(Intelligent Transport Systems)-oriented information systems as well as the drivers visual activity analysis, physiological indices(GSR, EEG, ECG, etc.), secondary task performance, reaction time. vehicle control parameters(speed, steering behavior, accelerator control) that are widely applied for transportation and vehicle systems to evaluate the safety, to decide the system or design alternatives, and to establish the design guidelines. This paper reviewed and compared the most globally employed four mental workload assessment techniques that have been designed for the use of various human-machine systems and ITS-oriented in-vehicle information systems. NASA-TLX(National Aeronautics and Space Administration-Task Load Index). SWAT(Subjective Workload Assessment Technique), MCH(Modified Cooper-Harper) scale, and recently developed RNASA-TLX(Revision of NASA-TH) were compared in terms of sensitivity and subjective evaluations to derive the human-machine interface evaluation guidelines for the application of ITS-oriented in-vehicle information systems. Then, experiment results supported that RNASA-TLX is the prospective tool for the mental workload assessment of ITS-oriented in-vehicle information systems.
Networked digital signage downloads necessary multimedia contents from a large-sized storage on WAN to its local disk of a limited size before starting their playback. If the required time to download the entire contents gets longer, a start time to play the contents at the digital signage could be delayed. In this paper, we propose a hybrid storage architecture that not only inserts an iSCSI storage layer between the existing local disk and the WAN storage, but offers a contents caching scheme in order to obtain all the necessary contents in digital signage rapidly. The proposed caching scheme determines how to place the downloaded contents both in the local disk and the iSCSI storage. Uniquely, the proposed caching scheme manages the iSCSI storage space by dividing it into two regions: (1) in one region, the digital signage can play the contents directly without downloading them into the local disk; (2) in the other region, the digital signage cannot. Performance evaluations on a simulator and an actual system with workloads of various contents show that a contents-downloading time of the hybrid storage architecture is at maximum three times shorter than that of the existing storage architecture.

The purpose and main points of the ROK-US Navy were analyzed from various angles using the big data technology Word Cloud for efficient sea trials. First, a comparison of words extracted through keyword cleansing in the ROK-US Navy sea trial showed that the ROK Navy conducted a single equipment test, and the US Navy conducted an integrated test run focusing on the system. Second, an analysis of the ROK-US Navy sea trials showed that approximately 66.6% were analyzed as similar items, of which more than two items were 112 items Approximately 44% of the 252 items of the ROK Navy sea trials overlapped, and that 89 items (35% of the total) could be reduced when integrated into the US Navy sea trials. A ship is a complex system in which multiple equipment operates simultaneously. The focus on checking the functions and performance of individual equipment, such as the ROK Navy's sea trials, will increase the sea trial period because of the excessive number of sea trial targets. In addition, the budget required will inevitably increase due to an increase in schedule and evaluation costs. In the future, further research will be needed to achieve more efficient and accurate sea trials through integrated system evaluations, such as the U.S. Navy sea trials.

Nitrogen and phosphorus are key factors in causing eutrophication of water body. In this study, ceramics media was selected to increase the removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus. We designed vertical, horizontal flow constructed wetlands to create aerobic and anaerobic flow conditions by using the media, then proceeded to performance evaluations after acrylic reactors were produced. In the case of vertical and horizontal flow constructed wetlands, we measured oxygen concentrations to evaluate aerobic and anaerobic conditions. we got the result of 2.7 mg/L in the aerobic condition, N.D in the anaerobic condition respectively, which suited our purpose. The result of the combined vertical and horizontal flow condition showed that the removal efficiency of SS was 94%, 91%, 61% at 140 min, 80 min, 60 min of running times, respectively, and the removal efficiency of T-P was 84%, 71%, 63% during each running time. In case of T-N, the removal efficiency was 63%, 49%, 42% during each running time. We found that the reactor exerted better removal efficiency when in the short time compared to 12 - 24 hr residence time of existing wetlands. In this study, we conducted experiments to explore functional effects after applying combined vertical and horizontal flow methods in the field. Further study will be carried out to identify its mechanism and administrative perspective.
Recently, with the advancement of network technologies, and the activation of IoT and social network services, many graph stream data have been generated. As the relationship between objects in the graph streams changes dynamically, studies have been conducting to detect or analyze the change of the graph. In this paper, we propose a scheme to incrementally detect frequent patterns by using frequent patterns information detected in previous sliding windows. The proposed scheme calculates values that represent whether the frequent patterns detected in previous sliding windows will be frequent in how many future silding windows. By using the values, the proposed scheme reduces the overall amount of computation by performing only necessary calculations in the next sliding window. In addition, only the patterns that are connected between the patterns are recognized as one pattern, so that only the more significant patterns are detected. We conduct various performance evaluations in order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme. The proposed scheme is faster than existing similar scheme when the number of duplicated data is large.
