  • 3kW grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system and data acquisition system are constructed for performance analysis of PV system at field demonstration test center of Gwang-Ju in Korea. As climatic and irradiation conditions are varied, operation characteristics of the PV system are collected and analyzed in data acquisition system. From these results, the performances of PV system have simulated and evaluated using simulation tool in comparison with actual value of data acquisition system of field demonstration test center. Furthermore, performance of total PV system e.g. electric power and loss factor at the site are reviewed.

  • Total six units of 3㎾ photovoltaic system and data acquisition system (DAS) are constructed for analyzing performance of PV system at field demonstration test center of Gwang-Ju in Korea. As climatic and irradiation conditions are varied. operation characteristics of the PV system are collected and analyzed in data-acquisition system furthermore, not only performance test of each PV system component such as PV module and power conditioning system but also performance of total PV system e.g. system efficiency power and loss factor at the site are reviewed.

  • The design of Prototype Gen-IV Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactor (PGSFR) has been developed and the validation and verification (V&V) activities to demonstrate the system performance and safety are in progress. In this paper, the current status of test activities is described briefly and significant results are discussed. The large-scale sodium thermal-hydraulic test program, Sodium Test Loop for Safety Simulation and Assessment-1 (STELLA-1), produced satisfactory results, which were used for the computer codes V&V, and the performance test results of the model pump in sodiumshowed good agreement with those in water. The second phase of the STELLA program with the integral effect tests facility, STELLA-2, is in the detailed design stage of the design process. The sodium thermal-hydraulic experiment loop for finned-tube sodium-to-air heat exchanger performance test, the intermediate heat exchanger test facility, and the test facility for the reactor flow distribution are underway. Flow characteristics test in subchannels of a wire-wrapped rod bundle has been carried out for safety analysis in the core and the dynamic characteristic test of upper internal structure has been performed for the seismic analysis model for the PGSFR. The performance tests for control rod assemblies (CRAs) have been conducted for control rod drive mechanism driving parts and drop tests of the CRA under scram condition were performed. Finally, three types of inspection sensors under development for the safe operation of the PGSFR were explained with significant results.

  • The cross-flow turbine is one of the most famous and widely used hydraulic power systems for a long time. The cross-flow turbine is especially popular in many countries and remote regions where off-grided because of its many benefits such as low cost, high efficiency at low head, simple structure, and easy maintenance. However, most modern turbines, including the cross-flow turbine, are unsuitable for the ultra-low head situation, known as less than 3m water head or zero head with over 0.5m/s flow velocity. In this study, we demonstrated a 20kW class inverted-type cross-flow turbine's performance. First, we reevaluated our previous studies and introduced how to design the inverted-type cross-flow turbine. Secondly, we fabricated the 20kW class inverted-type cross-flow turbine for the performance test. And then, we designed a testbed and installed the turbine system in the demonstration facility. In the end, we compare the demonstration with its previous CFD results. The comparing result shows that both CFD and real model fitted on guide vane angle at 10 degrees. At the demonstration, we achieved 42% turbine efficiency at runner speed 125 RPM.

  • 75톤급 기술검증용 연소기 시제의 저압 연소시험을 수행하였다. 기술검증용 연소기의 설계 연소압력은 60 bar, 추진제 유량은 243.6 kg/s이다. 그러나 국내 연소시험설비의 여건상 연소압력 30 bar, 추진제 유량 121.8 kg/s의 저압 조건에서의 연소기 작동성 및 연소성능을 검증하기 위한 시험을 수행하였다. 모든 연소시험은 하드웨어의 손상 없이 성공적으로 수행되었다. 본 시험결과는 향후 75톤급 연소기의 설계점 조건에서의 연소성능을 예측하는 기본 데이터로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This study describes thermal performance of heating and cooling demonstration system using ETSC(Evacuated tubular solar collector) installed at Seo-gu art center of Kwangju. For demonstration study, a reading room with about $350m^2$ was heated and cooled using that system. The demonstration system was consisted of ETSCs, storage tank, hot water supply tank, subsidiary boiler, and subsidiary tank. From January to March in 2006, demonstration test were performed with 4 control mode to find the optimum control condition for solar thermal system. After experiments and analysis, this study found that solar thermal system of control mode IV was corresponded to 78% for the hot water supply and 49% for space heating.

  • Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) is one of the best ways to generate electric power using the solar energy, which is clean and inexhaustible energy resources. The most of BIPV modules have the form of GtoG (Glass to Glass) photovoltaic in building applications. Degradation leading to failure in photovoltaic modules is very important factor in BIPV modules. This paper analyzed the performance of various BIPV modules through outdoor exposure tests. Performance of three BIPV modules(c-Si type, a-Si type and DSSC type) with three installation angles influenced by sun light, outdoor temperature, and wind velocity was monitored and analyzed. As a result, c-Si type BIPV module outperforms other BIPV modules(a-Si type). In terms of power efficiency of the module, the installed angle of $45^{\circ}$ is better than others(90 degree, 0 degree). In addition, more realistic data of various BIPV system performance could be available through the field test and integrated building test. In this study, relationship of the BIPV system is identified module's installation angle, power generation, architectural performance, etc.

CANDU 사용후핵연료 저장바스켓 설계 개선안 도출 (Design Enhancement of CANDU S/F Storage Basket)

  • 월성원자력본부의 조밀건식저장시설인 MACSTOR/KN-400의 인허가 과정에서 사고조건에 대한 바스켓의 안전성 평가를 위한 실증시험의 필요성이 제기되었다. 실증시험을 위한 낙하시험시설을 한국원자력연구원에 설치하고 바스켓 낙하 실증시험을 수행하였다. 실증시험 결과 실린더 내 적재 바스켓의 상부 용접부가 낙하 바스켓과 충돌하여 파손되고 누설이 발생하였다. 기존 바스켓이 실증시험에서 누설율 성능요건을 만족하지 못함에 따라 바스켓의 설계 개선안 도출이 필요하게 되었다. 설계 개선을 위한 방향을 선정하고 이에 기초하여 6 종류의 설계 개선안을 도출하였다. 개별 설계 개선안에 대하여 구조해석 및 시편시험을 수행하였다. 구조해석 및 시편시험의 결과를 바탕으로 최종설계안을 확정하였다. 최종설계안은 바스켓의 중앙 포스트의 높이를 감소하여 낙하 바스켓과의 충돌속도를 감소시키는 설계안이었다. 최종설계안에 대한 시험모델을 제작하여 낙하실증시험을 재수행한 결과 모든 성능요건을 만족하였다.
