  • This study is to suggest a performance assessment model for fire safety protection of office building 34 asessment elements were chosen by interviewing with experts, reviewing several codes and existing relevant models, assessment elements included in this model are comprised of five categories which are 'performace of protected area', 'performance of fire partition', 'safety performance of fire escape', 'performace of smoke control system' and 'performace of fire fighting equipment'. The weight of each element was computed by systematic approach like an AHP (analytical hierarchy process), which was conducted by experts who work in the field of fire protection. This model would be utilized as a part of assessment model for the overall performace of domestic office building.

  • CFD techniques are widely used for the design and development of turbomachinery. The design and performance prediction, evaluation of performace and analysis are all important for the successful development of the machinery. The characteristics of the sturcture and performace of the centrifugal compressor are reviewed for the effective application of CFD techniques. The examples of flow calculations through an impeller and a channel diffuser are presented and phenomenological aspects are discussed. The future research topics of CFD area are also suggested.

  • In this paper a linear Kalman filter for calibration of gimballed inertial navigation system(GINS) is designed and its performace is analyzed through the simulation with a real navigation data. Simulation results show that the proposed Kalman filter gives a good performance to calibrate the sensor errors.

  • Given the frame size and constituent encoders, interleaver plays a central role in a turbo code performance. Interleaver should be designed to generate a heavy weight codeword in the second encoder if the first encoder generates a low weight codeword. In this paper we present a search procedure for high performace interleaver whose performance is measured by computing union bound using the weight spectrum of all the weight 2, 3

  • A noble single-ended input, double-balanced mixer topology is proposed. The mixer incorporates the common-source amplifier input stage with inductive degeneration for impedance matching. The analysis based on simulations shows that the overall performance of the mixer is excellent and is adjustable by varying the input transistor size to give best characteristics for the given linearity specifications.

  • In case of sensor faults, they can be detected by examining the sensor output values and the typical values of the system. And then the types of the faults are recognized by the analysis of symptoms of faults. If necessary self-validating sensor values are synthesized according to the types of faults, and then they are used for the controller instead of the raw data. In this paper, fuzzy logic is introduced in SEVA sensors to improve the system performance. And then the method is applied to the control of a flexible link system with the sensor fault problems for exact positioning to show the applicability.
