The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing health perception in the elderly, to provide the basic data for health behavior program and nursing intervention. The subjects of this study were 240 elderly person over the age 60, living in Seoul and Kangnung. They were conveniently sampled for this study and the data was collected from June 1999 to September 1999. The instruments for this study were the Health Perception Questionaire developed by Ware(1979), the OARS Functional Assessment Questionaire (Duke University 1978), and Multidimensional Health Locus of Control by Wallston, Wallston, and De Vills(1978). The data were analyzed by using SPSS Win computer Program. The results are as follows; 1. The total mean score of the health perception was 52.02(S.D=${\pm}$7.07) in a range of 33 to 69, and the mean score of the functional status was 27.02 (SD=${\pm}$2.75) in a range of zero to 28 and the mean score of the health locus of control was 65.66(S.D=${\pm}$8.68) in a range of 43 to 90. And The mean scores on the HLOC subscales were HLOC-I: 23.73${\pm}$4.56 (range: 6-30), HLOC-P: 23.07${\pm}$4.74 (range: 6-30), HLOC-C: 18.55${\pm}$4.03 (range: 11-30). 2. There was a significant positive correlation between health perception and functional status(r=.216, p=.001), and health perception and the health locus of control(HLOC) were not correlated at the level of statistical significance. However, the HLOC-I and health perception were correlated positively(r=.328, p=.000), and the HLOC-P were correlated negatively (r=-.129, p=.046). 3. There was a significant difference statistically in the degree of health perception according to the age(F=3.351, p=.002), spouse(t=2.232, p=.021), education level(F=7.373, p=.001), disease(t=3.639, p=.000), group activity (t=2.458, p=.015). drink(t=2.327, p=.021). 4. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of health perception was internal health locus of control. A combination of HOLC-I, functional status, HLOC-P, group activity explained 17.9% of the variance for health perception in the elderly. In conclusion, the results of this study show that internal health locus of control factor is very important in explaining the health perception for the elderly. Therefore, it will be considered internal health locus of control factor in nursing intervention and program in order to enforce the health behavior for elderly people .
In light of the problem of imported apparel that tends to increase rapidly this study was intended to inquire into the assessment of male and female college students about the brands of imported apparel relative to dom-estic apparel based on quality perception price pirceptionand social psychological perception. And it is concerned with making a compara-tive study of the difference in consumer's con-sciousness of clothing between subjects by dividing them into the group of preference for imported apparel the group of non-preference for it on the basis of their ratings. As a consequence the following study results were obtained. 1) As a result of comparing college students' ratings for quality perception price perception and social psychological perception of impor-ted apparel all three factors were shown to have the high average value in care of the group of preference for imported apparel and to have a significant difference between groups. 2) As a consequence of making a compara-tive study of the difference in the clothing at-titude between groups the group of prefer-ence for imported apparel showed the high av-erage value about brand preference and identi-fication clothing involvement and interper-sonal perception through clothing and to hjave a significant difference with the group of pref-erence for imported apparel in terms of the peripheral environment and the place of pur-chase. 3) As a result of making a comparison of the difference in demographic factors between groups it was analyzed that female clollege students especially college women in the departments of art and physical education had the higher preference for imported apparel. And it was shown that they had the higher preference for imported apparel the greater amount of pocket money they had. Broader and deeper studies are required to be made about imported apparel in a multifaceted way. Therefore follow-on studies will have to be actively conducted such as a study of con-sumer's evaluation about imported apparel and domestic apparel charged at th same range of prices and a study of the difference on con-sumer's consciousness of imported apparel found over age span of consumers.
Background: In recent years, the interest in health and safety in the workplace has increased. Agriculture is one of the human work activities with the highest risk indexes. Studies on risk perception of agricultural workers are often referred to as specific risk factors (especially pesticides), but the risk perception plays an important role in preventing every kind of accident and occupational disease. Methods: The aim of this research is to test a new method for understanding the relation between risk perception among farmers and the main risk factors to which they are exposed. A secondary aim is to investigate the influence of training in risk perception in agriculture. The data collection was realized using a questionnaire designed to investigate the risk perception; the questionnaire was given to a sample of 119 agricultural workers in central Italy. Through the use of the "principal components analysis" it was possible to highlight and verify the latent dimensions underlying the collected data in comparison with scales of attitudes. Results: Results show that the highest percentage of strong negative attitude is among the people who have worked for more years, while farmers who have worked for fewer years have a marked positive attitude. Conclusion: The analysis of the questionnaires through the synthetic index method (Rizzi index) showed that agricultural workers involved, in particular the elderly workers, have a negative attitude towards safety; workers are hostile to safety measures if they have not attended special training courses.

In the experimental group, we used Nintendo wii's driving simulation program and RC Car driving program in the model road. For estimation, we used MVPT-3(Motor-Free Visual Perception Test-3), Trail Making Test - 1, Trail making Test - 2 and LOTCA(Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment). Result : Nintendo wii's driving simulation program and RC Car driving program in model road results efficient visual perception ability. This programs results effectively in visual perception ability and space perception ability. This programs results effectively in motor apraxia ability. This programs results effectively in control ability for visual perception. This programs results effectively in thinking operation. Conclusion : Nintendo Wii's driving simulation program and RC Car driving program in model road positively influence improving for visual perceptual ability and cognitive function of elderly people. Also it is considered as being more efficient for improving visual perceptual ability and cognitive function to implement basic rehabilitation training with driving rehabilitation program than basic training itself.
The opinionnaire was given to two groups; residents and public officials working at environmental administrative section. Based on the result of questionnaire, perceptional differences between these groups toward environmental NGOs were comparatively anaIyzed. The results were classified into following four items; Firstly, numbers of residents who recognize the existences of environmental NGOs in Kyonggi-Do were lower than those who didn't. Secondly, in both groups, more than 80% of respondents acknowledged that residents should be involved in decisions and developments of environmental projects. Thirdly, respondents belonging to both groups overwhelmingly selected the item "being improved" as the answer for the question asking whether NGOs' environmental activities contribute to improve of environmental conditions. This indicated that public officials also acknowledged the positive role of NGOs in environmental issues. Lastly, the answer of "intensive upbringing is necessary" was ranked as the first place for the question asking "necessity of raising environmental NGOs". However, it was hard to tell which opinion was superior in the matter of financial support necessity for NGOs judging from the answers by respondents of public officials.
Objectives: To determine the factors affecting the assessment of Oriental medical institutions under the Oriental Medical Institution Assessment System and thereupon, provide for some basic data and alternative measures for assessment of Oriental medical institutions. Methods: The researcher sampled 320 people employed by 26 Oriental medical institutions designated as model Oriental medical institutions subject to assessment in 2008 and 2009 and thereupon, used a structured and open-ended survey table for them to collect the data. The size of the final sample was n=302. Results: The Oriental medical institution staff were highly aware of the Oriental medical institution assessment (OMIA), After adjusting the other factors by multiple regression, the factors affecting such recognition were different significantly depending on age (those in their 30's), types of job (nurses and treatment assistants) and locations of hospital (GyeongSang-do). The staff expected the OMIA could helpful for improving facilities and system of hospitals, thus promoting satisfaction of patients. To do so, they felt it necessary to develop an assessment scale reflecting the special conditions besetting the Oriental medical institutions as well as the indices for improvement of Oriental medical service quality. Conclusion: It is hoped that this study will be followed up by future studies which will comparatively analyze Oriental medical institution staff's perception of the assessment system before and after its operation and thereby, suggest some ideal policy alternatives for assessment of the Oriental medical institutions. Furthermore, future studies are requested to research into Oriental medical institution staff's needs and consumers' needs as well in consideration of the characteristics of the Oriental medical institutions and thereupon, suggest some alternatives for continued education, development of the assessment tools, methods and policies.

Background: Patient reported outcome measures assess clinical progress from the patient's perspective. This study explored the relationship between shoulder outcome measures (The Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand [DASH], American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standard Shoulder Assessment score [ASES], and Constant score) by comparing the best possible scores obtained in an asymptomatic population compared to overall perception of health, as measured by the SF-36 outcome measure. Methods: Volunteers (age range, 20-69 years) with asymptomatic shoulders and no history of shoulder pain, injury, surgery, imaging, or pathology (bilaterally) were included. The DASH and ASES measures were completed by 111 volunteers (72 female, 39 male), of which 92 completed the Constant score (56 female, 36 male). The SF-36 was completed by all volunteers (level of evidence: IV case series). Results: The mean (${\bar{x}}$) score for ASES measure on the right shoulder was higher for the left-hand dominant side (${\bar{x}}=100.00$ vs. 95.02, p-value<0.001); no other significant differences. Better SF-36 scores were associated with better DASH scores. Our prediction models suggest that perception of overall health affects the DASH scores. Sex affected all three shoulder measures scores. Conclusions: Comparing scores of shoulder outcome measures to the highest possible score is not the most informative way to interpret patient progress. Variables such as health status, sex, and hand dominance need to be considered. Furthermore, it is possible to use these variables to predict scores of outcome measures, which facilitates the healthcare provider to deliver individualized care to their patients.
Purpose: Patients' perception of fall risk is a promising new indicator for fall prevention. Therefore, a fall risk perception questionnaire that can be used rapidly and repeatedly in acute care settings is required. This study aimed to develop a short version of the fall risk perception questionnaire (Short-FRPQ) for inpatients. Methods: For the psychometric measurements, 246 inpatients were recruited from an acute care hospital. The construct (using confirmatory factor analysis and discriminant validity of each item), convergent, and known-group validities were tested to determine the validity of the Short-FRPQ. McDonald's omega coefficient was used to examine the internal consistency of reliability. Results: In the confirmatory factor analysis, the fit indices of the Short-FRPQ, comprising 14 items and three factors, appeared to be satisfactory. The Short-FRPQ had a significantly positive correlation with the original scale, the Korean Falls Efficacy Scale-International, and the Morse Fall Scale. The risk of falls group, assessed using the Morse Fall Scale, had a higher score on the Short-FRPQ. McDonald's omega coefficient was .90. Conclusion: The Short-FRPQ presents good reliability and validity. As patient participation is essential in fall interventions, evaluating the fall risk perception of inpatients quickly and repeatedly using scales of acceptable validity and reliability is necessary.

In general, teachers' perceptions on the physical environment of elementary school are related on the quality of education and school life. But, we don't have study what teachers think of their enviroment of school. This study analyzed elementary school teachers' satisfaction with overall physical environment and their assessment of spaces with specific functions in order to understand teachers' perception of the physical environment of elementary schools. A survey questionnaire was administered to 982 homeroom teachers working at 67 elementary schools located in Seoul and Busan. Teachers' satisfaction with physical environment of school and their assessment were analyzed comparatively according to the teachers' personal attributes and school conditions. 1) Most of the surveyed teachers were satisfied with overall physical environment of the school, and assessed high the substantiality of functional spaces indoor and outdoor. By sub-factor, however, their satisfaction with work environment was lower than that with education and living environment. 2) The teachers perceived that the optimal number of classes was 30~36, and this is probably because they were relatively accustomed to large scale schools. 3) As might be expected, negative assessments were more frequent among teachers working at a large-scale school, an old school, or a school with small outdoor spaces. The results of this study show that, though partially different according to region, gender, teaching experience and school condition, teachers' satisfaction with school environment was relatively high. This suggests that elementary school teachers perceive their current school environment positively. Because they are accustomed to traditional education methods that have been maintained.
For the user-centered interior space design, a designer needs to carefully focus on the details from which the user must keenly observe or concentrate on the space and how to deliberately check the image of the space. Following this view, for the user-centered interior space design this study analyzes the way which the space is represented from the perspective of the image assessment. The results obtained from this study are summarized as follows: First, this study analyzed the characteristic of space image change in the form of cross-comparison between one space and a rotated space. With analyzing of an eye fixation by showing the space, the space images of "concentration-dispersion" and "strengthening-weaken "have an important role in the analysis of the perception of space. it confirmed that the method of space perception was changed by rotated the space. Second, With changing quantities of image and extraction of deviation from adjective in survey, it quantitatively graps that respondents of feel in space perception by changing the space and "concentration" and 'dispersion" for process of space choice. The results of the research can provide important basis to judge the changing of space perception by visual perception. Third, through the analysis of image change rate and deviation rate, the characteristics of image change with space change can be analyzed. The results derived from the study provide the evidence to support the image change by space rotating.
