In this paper, we present a two-stage vision-based approach to detect multi views of pedestrian in road scene images. The first stage is HG (Hypothesis Generation), in which potential pedestrian are hypothesized. During the hypothesis generation step, we use a vertical, horizontal edge map, and different colors between road background and pedestrian's clothes to determine the leg position of pedestrian, then a novel symmetry peaks processing is performed to define how many pedestrians is covered in one potential candidate region. Finally, the real candidate region where pedestrian exists will be constructed. The second stage is HV (Hypothesis Verification). In this stage, all hypotheses are verified by Support Vector Machine for classification, which is robust for multi views of pedestrian detection and recognition problems.

The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of physical planning elements in the pedestrian malls when cultural events for young ages proved; the planning strategies for the regeneration of the block of Kyungchun-railroad track, which is removing planned in campus surroundings. Local Government' initiation makes possible to make improvement and give administrative and financial support which is sensitive to the existing conditions of railroad for the better living environment. Thus, this research suggests how the block of Kyungchun-railroad track, which is removing planned, as a newly organized pedestrian mall design system can cope with collaborating a board and community, which has in campus surroundings related. This study consists of following four parts; 1. six-case pedestrian mall in campus surroundings in Seoul were analyzed in terms of physical and cultural factors for young ages between university and community. 2. we focused on the analysis of correlation between the physical planning factors and the spatial requirements for cultural event when the pedestrian mall in campus surroundings is designed. The paper's significance lies in that it shows a new direction in urban renewal planning and design which has been made into a pedestrian mall plan through in support of the application to the pilot project compared with previous physical environment.

Recently, urban mixed-use commercial facilities have been required to raise a safe environment in public areas. So, this study focuses on analyze planning factors selected through the precedent research for Pedestrian safety and environment of urban mixed-use commercial facilities. The first purpose of this study is to analyse the applicative estimation of environmental plan to support pedestrians in public space of urban mixed-use commercial facilities in Seoul. And the second purpose of this study is to propose the directions of environmental planning for creating a pedestrian-friendly environment in public space of urban mixed-use commercial facilities. In order to accomplish this purpose, the environmental planning factors for supporting pedestrians and guidelines for disabled shown in the precedent studies are drawn. A survey of research subjects are 4 urban mixed-use commercial facilities located in downtown Seoul. And then a questionnaire survey is performed on architecture and interior design students to evaluate the importance. As a result of the study, the following conclusion are drawn. The pedestrian-friendly environment in urban mixed-use commercial facilities requires planning to strengthen accessibility, supporting and safety of public space.
In the field of industrial applications, the real-time performance of the target detection problem is very important. The most serious time consumption in the pedestrian detection process is the extraction phase of the candidate window. To accelerate the speed, in this paper, a fast extraction of pedestrian candidate window based on the BING (Binarized Normed Gradients) algorithm replaces the traditional sliding window scanning. The BING features are extracted with the positive and negative samples and input into the two-stage SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifier for training. The obtained BING template may include a pedestrian candidate window. The trained template is loaded during detection, and the extracted candidate windows are input into the classifier. The experimental results show that the proposed method can extract fewer candidate window and has a higher recall rate with more rapid speed than the traditional sliding window detection method, so the method improves the detection speed while maintaining the detection accuracy. In addition, the real-time requirement is satisfied.

A Gabor filter is a linear filter used for edge detectionas frequency and orientation representations of Gabor filters are similar to those of the human visual system. In this thesis, we propose a pedestrian detection algorithm using a Gabor filter bank. In order to extract the features of the pedestrian, we use various image processing algorithms and data structure algorithms. First, color image segmentation is performed to consider the information of the RGB color space. Second, histogram equalization is performed to enhance the brightness of the input images. Third, convolution is performed between a Gabor filter bank and the enhanced images. Fourth, statistical values are calculated by using the integral image (summed area table) method. The calculated statistical values are used for the feature matrix of the pedestrian area. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, the INRIA pedestrian database and SVM (Support Vector Machine) are used, and we compare the proposed algorithm and the HOG (Histogram of Oriented Gradient) pedestrian detector, presentlyreferred to as the methodology of pedestrian detection algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more accurate compared to the HOG pedestrian detector.
With a view to the residential environment plan to improve the quality of life and health status of dwellers, the purpose of this study is to explore the co-relation between pedestrian environment and health performance in apartment complexes and to analyze the residents' evaluations on pedestrian environment for 'pedestrians-friendly residential environment'. The method of this study was research review and questionnaire survey research. Questionnaire surveys were conducted with the housewives at the two subject apartments in Busan. Based on tools to assess pedestrian environment, this study analyzed correlation between health-related satisfaction with residential environment and satisfaction with pedestrian environment. Satisfactions with pedestrian environment showed a strongly positive (+) correlation with contentment with health-related residential environment Second, this study analyzed residents' use, demands, and satisfaction for pedestrian environment. More active pedestrian environment are required (i.e. a trail or sports facilities) to create residential environment which could support the enhancement of physical health To perform the mean comparative analysis and correlation analysis of the survey results, PASW 18.0 was used.
The route finding analysis is an essential geo-related decision support tool in a LBS(Location based Services) and previous researches related to route guidance have been mainly focused on route guidances for vehicles. However, due to the recent spread of personal computing devices such as PDA, PMP and smart phone, route guidance for pedestrians have been increasingly in demand. The pedestrian route guidance is different from vehicle route guidance because pedestrians are affected more surrounding environment than vehicles. Therefore, pedestrian path finding needs considerations of factors affecting walking. This paper aimed to extract factors affecting walking and charting the factors for application factors affecting walking to pedestrian path finding. In this paper, we found various factors about environment of road for pedestrian and extract the factors affecting walking. Factors affecting walking consist of 4 categories traffic, sidewalk, network, safety facility. We calculated weights about each factor using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Based on weights we calculated scores about each factor's attribute. The weight is maximum score of factor. These scores of factor are used to optimal pedestrian path finding as path finding cost with distance, accessibility.

Traffic accident involved with the vulnerable pedestrian is one of the significant concerns, which has higher possibility of fatality than any other accident types. Worldwide significant efforts have been made to establish a vehicle safety regulation, which is internationally agreed, in order to reduce pedestrian casualties in pedestrian-vehicle collisions. One of the key issues in deriving the regulation is how to effectively select the parameter values associated with the regulation. This study firstly develops a method to optimize parameter values. An optimizing problem in terms of maximizing safety benefits, which are life-saving effects by the regulation, is formulated. Extensive actual accident data analysis and simulations are conducted to establish several statistical models to be used in the proposed optimization procedure. A set of parameter values that can produce maximizing life-saving effects is presented as the outcome of this study. It is expected that the proposed method would play a significant role in determining parameters as a decision support tool toward ensuring better pedestrian safety.
The major purpose of this study is to evaluate methodologies to predict the injury severity of pedestrian-vehicle collisions. Methodologies to be evaluated and compared in this study include Binary Logistic Regression(BLR), Ordered Probit Model(OPM), Support Vector Machine(SVM) and Decision Tree(DT) method. Valuable insights into applying methodologies to analyze the characteristics of pedestrian injury severity are derived. For the purpose of identifying causal factors affecting the injury severity, statistical approaches such as BLR and OPM are recommended. On the other hand, to achieve better prediction performance, heuristic approaches such as SVM and DT are recommended. It is expected that the outcome of this study would be useful in developing various countermeasures for enhancing pedestrian safety.

In this paper, multiple pedestrians tracking system using Histogram of Oriented Gradient and occlusion detection is proposed. The proposed system is applicable to Intelligent Surveillance System. First, we detect pedestrian in a image sequence using pedestrian's feature. To get pedestrian's feature, we make block-histogram using gradient's direction histogram based on HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradient), after that a pedestrian region is classified by using Linear-SVM(Support Vector Machine) training. Next, moving objects are tracked by using position information of the classified pedestrians. And we create motion trajectory descriptor which is used for content based event retrieval. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more fast, accurate and effective than conventional methods.
