  • A block-oxide layer was formed on the surface of Cu-based leadframe by chamical oxidation method in order to enhance the adhesion strength between Cu-based leadframe and epoxy molding compound (EMC) Using sandwiched double cantilever beam (SDCB) specimens, the adesion strength was measured in terms of interfacial fracture toughness, G$\sub$IC//Results showed that the black-oxide layer was composed of two kinds of layers: pebble-like Cu$_2$O layer and acicular CuO layer, At the initial stage of oxidation the Cu$_2$O layer was preferentially formed and thickened up to around 200 nm whithin 1 minute of the oxidation time. Then the CuO layer started to from atop of the Cu$_2$O layer and thickened up to around 1300 nm until 20 minutes. As soon as the CuO layer formed, the thickness of Cu$_2$O layer began to reduce and finally reached to around 150 nm. The pre-cleaned and the Cu$_2$O coated leadframes showed almost no adhesion of EMC, however, as the CuO precipitates appeared and became continuous, G$\sub$IC/ increased up to around 80 J/㎡. Further oxidation raised G$\sub$IC/ up. to around 100 J/㎡.

  • Let G be a connected graph on n vertices. The pebbling number of graph G, f(G), is the least m such that, however m pebbles are placed on the vertices of G, we can move a pebble to any vertex by a sequence of moves, each move taking two pebbles off one vertex and placing one on an adjacent vertex. In this paper, we compute the pebbling number of the Petersen Graph. We also show that the pebbling number of the categorical Product G.H is (m+n)h where G is the complete bipartite graph $K_{m,n}$ and H is the complete graph with $h(\geq4)$ vertices.

  • Ten specimens of Luciogobius parvulus (42.8~49.0 mm SL) were collected from the coast of Wando-gun, Chollanam-do, Korea. This species is characterized by having 10~11 second dorsal fin rays, 11~13 anal fin rays, 11~12 pectoral fin rays, pelvic fin rays and free rays on pectoral fin absent. All specimens were collected from intertidal zone, rocky shore with gravel. It burrowed among moistened sediment composed of pebble. We propose the new Korean name, "Min-mi-kken-mang-dug", for the species.

  • In archeological aspects the 4th-6th centuries of the Silla kingdom has been callded the era of wooden chamber tombs with pebble and earth mounds(jeokseokmokwakbun). Moreover, the era is also regarded the age of the traditional and 'primitive' Korean religion which originated from inside the Korean Peninsula or the kingdom. However, the tombs and their burial accessories reveal that it is Taoism, not shamanism, that prevailed throughout the silla kingdom and its people during the jeokseokmokwakbun period. Above all things, almost all of the tombs excavated up to date yield in great quantities cinnabar and mica, which have been considered the best elixir of life in the Taoist world. Moreover the instruments to make the medicine for the deceased has been founded inside a tomb. The jeokseokmokwakbun tombs are famous for their great amount of buried articles and their grand scale. The tombs also have a large amount of gold, silver and beads, which are all thought to be the other cure-alls in taoism. Then why the silla people made the tombs and buried those elixirs of life for the deceased? The best answer we can imagine is this : for eternal living! In other words, cinnabar and mica are for the everlasting life of the deceased, the tombs were desingned as the 'eternal house' where the dead are living a immortal life. Needless to say, immortal living, even after he or she dies, is the ultimate purpose of taoism.

  • Given a distribution of pebbles on the vertices of a connected graph G, a pebbling move is defined as the removal of two pebbles from some vertex and the placement of one of those pebbles at an adjacent vertex. The t-pebbling number, $f_t(G)$, of a connected graph G, is the smallest positive integer such that from every placement of $f_t(G)$ pebbles, t pebbles can be moved to any specified vertex by a sequence of pebbling moves. A graph G has the 2t-pebbling property if for any distribution with more than $2f_t(G)$ - q pebbles, where q is the number of vertices with at least one pebble, it is possible, using the sequence of pebbling moves, to put 2t pebbles on any vertex. In this paper, we determine the t-pebbling number for the middle graph of a complete binary tree $M(B_h)$ and we show that the middle graph of a complete binary tree $M(B_h)$ satisfies the 2t-pebbling property.

  • Nuclear data (ND) sensitivity and uncertainty (S/U) quantification in shielding applications is performed using deterministic and probabilistic approaches. In this paper the validation of the newly developed deterministic program package ASUSD (ADVANTG + SUSD3D) is presented. ASUSD was developed with the aim of automating the process of ND S/U while retaining the computational efficiency of the deterministic approach to ND S/U analysis. The paper includes a detailed description of each of the programs contained within ASUSD, the computational workflow and validation results. ASUSD was validated on two shielding benchmark experiments from the Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD) - the fission relevant ASPIS Iron 88 experiment and the fusion relevant Frascati Neutron Generator (FNG) Helium Cooled Pebble Bed (HCPB) Test Blanket Module (TBM) mock-up experiment. The validation process was performed in two stages. Firstly, the Denovo discrete ordinates transport solver was validated as a standalone solver. Secondly, the ASUSD program package as a whole was validated as a ND S/U analysis tool. Both stages of the validation process yielded excellent results, with a maximum difference of 17% in final uncertainties due to ND between ASUSD and the stochastic ND S/U approach. Based on these results, ASUSD has proven to be a user friendly and computationally efficient tool for deterministic ND S/U analysis of shielding geometries.

  • The Uranium/Molybdenum metallic fuel has been proposed as promising advanced fuel concept especially in the dispersed fuel geometry. The fuel is manufactured in the form of small fuel droplets (particles) placed in a fuel pin covered by a matrix. In addition to fuel particles, the pin contains voids necessary to compensate material swelling and release of fission gases from the fuel particles. When investigating this advanced fuel design, two important questions were raised. Can the dispersed fuel performance be analyzed using homogenization without significant inaccuracy and what size of fuel drops should be used for the fuel design to achieve optimal utilization? To answer, 2D burnup calculations of fuel assemblies with different fuel particle sizes were performed. The analysis was supported by an additional 3D fuel pin calculation with the dispersed fuel particle size variations. The results show a significant difference in the multiplication factor between the homogenized calculation and the detailed calculation with precise fuel particle geometry. The recommended fuel particle size depends on the final burnup to be achieved. As shown in the results, for lower burnup levels, larger fuel drops offer better multiplication factor. However, when higher burnup levels are required, then smaller fuel drops perform better.

  • Ecological characteristics of Koreocobitis rotundicaudata was investigated in the mid-upper part of the Naerin stream in Hongcheon gun, Gangwon do, Korea from April 2006 to March 2007. It inhabited mostly on the cobble and pebble bottoms with water-current velocities of 0.3~0.8 m/sec and depths of 30~80 cm. The sex ratio of female to male was 1 : 0.78. It was presumed that the spawning season was from May to June with water temperatures $20.1{\sim}23.1^{\circ}C$. Sexually matured individuals appeared over the two years of age. Body length frequencies indicated that the 40~69 mm group is over one year old, the 70~109 mm over two years old, and 110~142 mm over three years old. The average number of eggs in the ovaries was 1,365. Main prey materials were Ephemeroptera and Chironomidae mostly.
