Peat에 의한 중금속(重金屬) Cd, Cu, Zn의 흡착(吸着) (Adsorption of Heavy Metals Cd, Cu and Zn on Peat)

  • 매장량(埋藏量)이 풍부한 peat를 중금속(重金屬) 흡착제(吸着劑)로서의 이용(利用) 가능성(可能性)을 확인(確認)하기 위한 실험(實驗)을 행한 결과(結果) 다음과 같았다. Peat의 입자(粒子)가 적을수록 중금속(重金屬) 흡착(吸着)이 효과적(效果的)이었으며 동일(同一) 농도용액(濃度溶液)에서 중금속(重金屬) 흡착량(吸着量)은 $Cu^{2+}$ > $Cd^{2+}$ > $Zn^{2+}$순(順) 이었다. Peat는 pH $4{\sim}5$사이에서 중금속(重金屬)의 최대흡착(最大吸着)이 일어났다. 중금속(重金屬) 농도(濃度)가 증가(增加)할수록 중금속(重金屬)의 흡착량(吸着量)의 증가(增加)되었으나 흡착율(吸着率)은 감소(減少)되었다. Peat에 의한 중금속(重金屬) 이온흡착은 Freundlich 흡착등온식(吸着等溫式)에 잘 적용(適用)되므로 효과적(效果的)인 흡착제(吸着劑)로 생각되며 peat에 PEI(polyethylenimine)를 처리(處理)하면 중금속(重金屬)의 흡착량(吸着量)이 증가(增加)하여 효과적(效果的)이었다. 중금속(重金屬) 흡착후(吸着後) peat의 처리방법(處理方法)은 열량(熱量)이 풍부하여 연료원(燃料源)으로 사용후(使用後) 용량(容量)을 줄일 수 있어서 경제적(經濟的)인 처리방법(處理方法)으로 생각된다.

  • Peat 및 화학 비료시용에 따른 잔디식물의 생장반응에 대한 실험 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 금잔디 생장반응 효과는 peat와 복합비료를 혼용했을 때 무처리 또는 peat나 복합비료의 단용시 보다 지상부와 지하부의 생장이 지속적으로 현저하게 증가되었다. 2. 줄기의 수는 무비상태보다 peat의 시용량이 증가함에 따라 많아졌으며 peat 3,000kg과 복합비료 혼용구에서 2배 이상 증가하였다. 3. 시험 후의 토양성분 변화는 peat 시용량이 증가할수록 대조구에 비해 pH와 유기물 함량이 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 4. 토양 중 Ca과 Mg의 함량은 대조구에 비해 peat의 시용량이 증가할 수록 높아지는 경향을 보였지만, Na의 함량은 peat시용량에 따라 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다.

Experimental study of strength of cement solidified peat at ultrahigh moisture content

  • Peat soil has the characteristics of high moisture content, large void ratio and low shear strength. In this study, unconfined compressive strength and SEM tests are conducted to investigate the effects of ultrahigh moisture content, cement content, organic content and pH value on the strength of solidified peat. As an increase in the cement content and curing period, the failure mode of solidified peat soil changes from ductile failure to brittle failure. The influence of moisture content on the strength of solidified peat is greater than the cement content. As cement content increases from 10% to 30%, strength of solidified peat at a curing age of 28 days increases by 161%~485%. By increasing water content by 100%, decreases of solidified peat at a curing age of 28 days is 42%~79%. Compared with the strength of solidified peat with a pH value of 5.5, the strength of peat with a pH value of 3.5 reduces by 10% ~ 46%, while the strength of peat with a pH value of 7.0 increases by 8% ~ 38%. It is recommended to use filler materials for stabilizing peat soil with moisture content greater than 200%. Because of small size of clay particles, clay added in the cement solidified peat can improve much higher strength that that of sand.

사할린도(島)의 PEAT 현황조사 (Survey of Peat Deposits in Skhalin Island)

  • This survey report introduced briefly peat deposits in SAKHALIN island of eastern SIBERIA continent. Peat industry was promoted as leading resources for development in this island by national control economic plan of central government before CIS. But development of deposit was left suspension of operation due to investment now. In southern area, about 10km from Yuzunosakhalinsk, two deposits of peat field were explored. One of them (Troisk) was suspended at begining stage of peat harvest from 300ha field and the other(Missilop) was producing the compact peat through drying and pulverizing from 350ha peat field which showed long run harvest activities. There are plenty of peat deposits near the Polonai Reika (river) in the central area of this island, At Zbaikaritz, 40km nothern area from Polonaisk, 135ha of peat field was developed. This field was left without working but established field preparation and could be able to be harvested any time if machines and utlities were settled. At southern suburb 10km from Polonaisk, about 40ha field of virgin deposit has been established planning for development. The plan involved estimated amount of peat, deposit depth, water level, drainage and leading road. The most of peat deposits accumulated from sphagnum moss. Texture is coarse but it contains more than 95% of organic carbon near to 0.5% of total nitrogen and acidity showed pH4-5.

Peat 연구의 현황(現況)과 전망(展望) (Present and Prospect of Peat Research)

  • Peat의 생산(生産) 분류(分類) 가공(加工) 사용(使用), 품질관리(品質管理) 성분(成分) 등에 관한 세계(世界)의 연구현황을 소개하였다. 우리나라의 그간 연구를 종합검토(綜合檢討)하였으며 토양생산성(土壤生産性)을 높이기 위한 사용전망(使用展望)을 검토하였다. 국제적(國際的)인 관계변화(關係變化)등 여러면에서 peat는 경제적으로 유용한 토양개량재료이며 생물산업의 신소재로 보여 대응연구가 필요(必要)한 것으로 보인다.

Compressibility behaviour of peat reinforced with precast stabilized peat columns and FEM analysis

  • Researches have been done to discover ways to strengthen peat soil deposits. In this model study, fibrous peat that is the most compressible types of peat has been reinforced with precast peat columns stabilized with ordinary Portland cement and polypropylene fibres. Rowe cell consolidation tests as well as plate load tests (PLTs) were conducted on various types of test samples to evaluate the strength and deformation of untreated peat and peat reinforced by various types of columns. PLTs were conducted in a specially designed and fabricated circular steel test tank. The compression index ($C_c$) and recompression index ($C_r$) of fibrous peat samples reduced considerably upon use of precast columns. Also, PLT results confirmed the results obtained from Rowe cell tests. Use of polypropylene fibres added to cement further decreased ($C_c$) and ($C_r$) and increased load bearing capacity of untreated peat. Finite element method (FEM) using Plaxis 3D was carried out to evaluate the stress distributions along various types of tested samples and also, to compare the deformations obtained from FEM analysis with the actual maximum deformations found from PLTs. FEM results indicate that most of the induced stresses are taken on the upper portion of tested samples and reach their maximum values below the loading plate. Also, a close agreement was found between actual deformation values obtained from PLTs and values resulted from FEM analysis for various types of tested samples.

Strength and compressibility characteristics of peat stabilized with sand columns

  • Organic soils exhibit problematic properties such as high compressibility and low shear strength; these properties may cause differential settlement or failure in structures built on such soils. Organic soil removal or stabilization are the most important methods to overcome geotechnical problems related to peat soils' engineering characteristics. This paper presents soil mechanical intervention for stabilization of peat with sand columns and focuses on a comparison between the mechanical characteristics of undisturbed peat and peat stabilized with 20%, 30% and 40% of sand on the laboratory scale. Cylindrical columns were extruded in different diameters through a nearly undisturbed peat sample in the laboratory and filled with sand. By adding sand columns to peat, higher permeability, higher shear strength and a faster consolidation was achieved. The sample with 70% peat and 30% sand displayed the most reliable compressibility properties. This can be attributed to proper drainage provided by sand columns for peat in this specific percentage. It was observed that the granular texture of sand also increased the friction angle of peat. The addition of 30% sand led to the highest shear strength among all mixtures considered. The peat samples with 40% sand were sampled with two and three sand columns and tested in direct shear and consolidation tests to evaluate the influence of the number and geometry of sand columns. Samples with three sand columns showed higher compressibility and shear strength. Following the results of this laboratory study it appears that the introduction of sand columns could be suitable for geotechnical peat stabilization in the field scale.

육계사에서의 미생물 활성 토탄의 악취저감 효과 (Odor reduction effect of microbially activated peat in broiler houses)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reduction effect of microbially activated peat on odor generated by livestock farms. The odor gas was measured by stirring the livestock manure sample with the existing litter and the microbially activated peat (Healtha Peat) was developed by this research team. In outdoor farm experiment, the measurements were performed by comparing broilers farm using rice husks and microbially activated peat as litter. The weight, mortality, shipment date, and odor levels (NH3) were measured before and after experiment. The result showed that NH3 levels were reduced by 100% in the Healtha Peat mixed group, Healtha Peat and rice husks mixed group. In the peat mixed group, Healtha Peat and saw dust mixed group showed reduce value at 99.6% and 99.1%, respectively. However the rice husks mixed group and saw dust mixed group showed a relatively weak NH3 reduction effect with values of 57.5% and 84.8%, respectively. After 3 months, the Healtha Peat mixed group and Healtha Peat and rice husks mixed group showed the highest NH3 reduction effect persistence. In the outdoor farm experiment, NH3 was present in farms using rice husks, but not in farms using Healtha Peat. In farms using Healtha Peat, the mortality and NH3 were reduced by 75% and >90%, respectively. The average body weight increased 18% and resulted to 10% decrease in the shipping date. These results implied that microbially activated peat has a clear effect on farm NH3 reduction and affects the productivity of farm animals.

니탄(peat)이 가축분의 퇴비효과에 미치는 영향 (The Influence on Compost effect of Livestock manure inoculated peat)

  • 가축분의 퇴비화 효과에 미치는 이탄의 영향을 구명하기 위하여 수분조절제(톱밥, 톱밥+이탄, 이탄)를 달리 혼합한 3종(우분, 돈분, 계분)의 가축분을 퇴비화시킨 후 수분함량, 유기물, 유기물대 질소비, 비료성분(N, P, K) 및 중금속(As, Cd, Hg, Pb, Cr, Cu) 함량과 미생물(호기성종속영양세균, 고온성세균, 곰팡이, 방선균) 밀도의 차이를 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) 퇴비화 과정을 거친 3종의 가축분 모두에서 사용된 톱밥+이탄, 이탄, 톱밥 혼합순으로 유기물함량이 높게 나타나 이탄이 유기물함량을 증가시키는 요인으로 작용하였다. 2) 유기물대 질소비와 수분함량은 모든 가축분별로 톱밥을 부재료로 이용한 것보다 이탄 또는 톱밥+이탄을 부재료로 이용한 것이 낮게 나타나 이탄이 퇴비화 숙성과정에 긍정적으로 영향하였다. 3) 비료성분(N, P, K)은 톱밥을 부재료로 이용한 것보다 이탄을 부재료로 혼합한 것에서 높게 나타났으나, 중금속함량은 모든 부재료 처리에서 유사한 수준이었다. 4) 미생물적 특성을 비교한 결과 톱밥만을 이용한 것보다 이탄을 부재료로 이용한 것이 호기성 종속영양세균, 고온성세균 및 곰팡이의 밀도가 높게 나타나 이탄을 혼합할 때 미생물 활동량 증가에 따른 퇴비 분해가 왕성한 것으로 나타났다. 5) 이러한 결과를 종합할 때 이탄이 혼합된 퇴비는 3종의 가축분 모두에서 톱밥보다 퇴비화 효과가 좋은 것으로 나타나 향후 이탄 활용으로 퇴비의 품질향상을 기대할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

경유오염 농경지의 톱밥 처리효과 (Effect of Sawdust Treatment at Oil Contaminated Soil)

  • 경유로 인한 농작물 피해를 줄이기 위한 방법으로 톱밥처리 효과를 구명하기 위하여 톱밥의 경유 흡착능과 시용 효과를 상탄(上炭(Muck)), 이탄(泥炭(Peat)) 및 PEAT SORB 등과 비교, 검토한 결과, 흡착제 종류별 경유 제거효율은 톱밥과 PEAT SORB가 토탄 및 이탄에 비해 높았다. 톱밥의 경유 제거효율은 경유에 대한 처리 비율이 1:2(w/v)이상일 때 97% 이상으로 높게 나타났으며, 흡착된 경유의 재용출은 거의 없었다. 경유오염 토양에서의 톱밥 처리효과는 분얼기에 $4,000L{\cdot}ha^{-1}$의 경유를 처리하고 흡착제를 처리하지 않은 구에서는 초장과 엽록소 함량이 대조구에 비해 감소한 반면 톱밥 처리구에서는 생육이 좋았다.
