The purpose of this study was to characterize the impact shock wave and its attenuation, and the kinematic response of the lower extremity's joints to the impact shock during downhill running in which the lower extremity's extensor acts dominantly. For this study, fifteen subjects(mean age:$27.08{\pm}4.39$; mass:$76.30{\pm}6.60$; height:$177.25{\pm}4.11$) were required to run on the 0% grade treadmill and downhill grades of 7%, and 15% in random at speed of their preference. When the participant run, acceleration at the tibia and the sacrum and kinematic data of the lower extremity were collected for 20s so as to provide at least 5 strides for analysis at each grade. Peak impact accelerations were used to calculate shock attenuation between the tibia and sacrum in time domain at each grade. Fast Fourier transformation(FFT) and power spectral density(PSD) techniques were used to analyze impact shock factors and its attenuation in the frequency domain. Joint coordinate system technique was used to compute angular displacement of the ankle and knee joint in three dimension. The conclusions were drawn as fellows: 1. Peak impact accelerations of the tibia and sacrum in downhill run were greater than that of 0% grade run, but no significant between conditions. Peak shock of PSD resembled also in pattern of peak impact acceleration. The wave of impact shock attenuation between the tibia and sacrum decreased with increasing grade, but didn't find a significant difference between grade conditions. 2. Adduction/abduction, flexion/extention, and internal/external rotation of the ankle and knee joints at support phase between grade conditions didn't make much difference. 3. At grade of 7% and 15%, there were relationship between the knee of the flexion/extension movement and peak impact acceleration during heel strike and found also it in the ankle of plantar/dorsiflexion at grade of 15%.

The purpose of this study is to investigate nonlinear behavior and estimate ultimate resistance of the wall structure against seismic loading. Experimental data for RC coupling elements are used for specifying the strength deterioration and stiffness degradation factor of hysteretic model. Modified coupling element models are used in the push over analysis and time history analysis. In the time history analysis, three earthquake waves are used in the analysis and their peak ground accelerations are changed to be 0.2g. The conclusions of this study are as follows : (1) In the push over analysis, yielding of coupling elements occurred at lower story with small story drift ratio as 0.3%. (2) In the time history analysis, the story drift ratio is sufficient for the requirement of Korean Code, But coupling elements at most stories of the buildings occurred yielding. i. e. the earthquake resistant capacity of shear wall structures is not sufficient at 0.2g.

We have simulated and proposed novel optical cavity, which has two elliptical mirrors, for NDIR gas sensor module and have tested it from 0 ppm to 2,000 ppm $CO_2$ concentration. The proposed sensor module shows the maximum peak voltage at 500 ms pulse modulation time, however, it shows a maximum voltage changes at 200 ms pulse duration with 18,000 times amplification gain. From 0 ppm to 2,000 ppm, the voltage difference of sensor module $({\Delta}V)$ shows 360 mV at 200 ms pulse duration and 3 sec turn-off time. The response time of designed sensor module is about 30 seconds.
Moving train load parameters, including train speed, axle spacing, gross train weight and axle weights, are identified based on strain-monitoring data. In this paper, according to influence line theory, the classic moving force identification method is enhanced to handle time-varying velocity of the train. First, the moments that the axles move through a set of fixed points are identified from a series of pulses extracted from the second derivative of the structural strain response. Subsequently, the train speed and axle spacing are identified. In addition, based on the fact that the integral area of the structural strain response is a constant under a unit force at a unit speed, the gross train weight can be obtained from the integral area of the measured strain response. Meanwhile, the corrected second derivative peak values, in which the effect of time-varying velocity is eliminated, are selected to distribute the gross train weight. Hence the axle weights could be identified. Afterwards, numerical simulations are employed to verify the proposed method and investigate the effect of the sampling frequency on the identification accuracy. Eventually, the method is verified using the real-time strain data of a continuous steel truss railway bridge. Results show that train speed, axle spacing and gross train weight can be accurately identified in the time domain. However, only the approximate values of the axle weights could be obtained with the updated method. The identified results can provide reliable reference for determining fatigue deterioration and predicting the remaining service life of railway bridges.

This study was conducted to investigate the changes of exercise-induced stress response with acute anaerobic exercise in elite soccer players of university. The subjects were divided into elite soccer players of university (SG, n=10) and control group (CG, n=10). Subjects were tested three consecutive Wingate test for 30 seconds involving 2 times of 3 mins of resting time. In addition, whole blood and capillary blood were collected at rest, immediately post-exercise and 60 mins. of recovery time. Obtained results were as follows: Evaluated mean power and peak power of SG group was significantly higher than that of CG group in the all phase of Wingate test, respectively (p<.01). Although resting serum TG, TC, HDLC levels were not significant difference between SG and CG group, resting serum glucose of SG group was significantly lower than that of CG group. In addition, serum CRP levels of SG group were significantly lower than that of CG group at rest, immediately post-exercise and 60 mins of recovery time, respectively (p<.01). In serum cytokines, in spite of no significant differences in IL-1β levels between SG and CG group, IL-6 levels of SG group were significantly lower than that of CG group at immediately post-exercise and 60 mins. of recovery time, respectively (p<.05, p<.01). From these results, long-term combination training have a crucial role in amelioration of acute exerciseinduced stress response in elite soccer players.
Head-out water immersion induces marked increase in the cardiac stroke volume. The present study was undertaken to characterize the stroke volume change by analyzing the aortic blood flow and left ventricular systolic time intervals. Ten men rested on a siting position in the air and in the water at $34.5^{circ}C$ for 30 min each. Their stroke volume, heart rate, ventricular systolic time intervals, and aortic blood flow indices were assessed by impedance cardiography. During immersion, the stroke volume increased 56%, with a slight (4%) decrease in heart rate, thus cardiac output increased ${\sim}50%.$ The slight increase in R-R interval was due to an equivalent increase in the systolic and diastolic time intervals. The ventricular ejection time was 20% increased, and this was mainly due to a decrease in pre-ejection period (28%). The mean arterial pressure increased 5 mmHg, indicating that the cardiac afterload was slightly elevated by immersion. The left ventricular end-diastolic volume index increased 24%, indicating that the cardiac preload was markedly elevated during immersion. The mean velocity and the indices of peak velocity and peak acceleration of aortic blood flow were all increased by ${\sim}30%,$ indicating that the left ventricular contractile force was enhanced by immersion. These results suggest that the increase in stroke volume during immersion is characterized by an increase in ventricular ejection time and aortic blood flow velocity, which may be primarily attributed to the increased cardiac preload and the muscle length-dependent increase in myocardial contractile force.

Soil moisture and runoff have very close relationship. Especially the water retention capacity and drainage characteristics of the soil are determined by various factors of the soil. In this study, a total of 40 rainfall events were identified from the entire rainfall events of Sulma basin in 2016 and 2017. For each selected events, the constant-K method was used to separate direct runoff and baseflow from total flow and calculate the runoff coefficient which shows positive exponential curve with Antecedent Soil Moisture (ASM). In addition to that, the threshold of soil moisture was determined at the point where the runoff coefficient starts increasing dramatically. The threshold of soil moisture shows great correlation with runoff and depth to water table. It was founded that not only ASM but also various factors, such as Initial Soil Moisture (ISM), storage capacity of soil and precipitation, affect the results of runoff response. Furthermore, wet condition and dry condition are separated by ASM threshold and the start and peak response are analyzed. And the results show that the response under wet condition occurred more quickly than that of dry condition. In most events occurred in dry condition, factors reached peak in order of soil moisture, depth to water table and runoff. However, in wet condition, they reached peak in order of depth to water table, runoff and soil moisture. These results will help identify the interaction among factors which affect the runoff, and it will help establish the relationship between various soil conditions and runoff.

In order to take advantage of the building as an energy demand resources, it requires automated systems that can respond to the demand response event. Load aggregator has been started business in Korea, research and development of building energy management and demand response systems that can support them has been active recently. However, the ratio of introducing automated real-time demand response systems is insufficient and the cost is also high. In this research, we developed a building energy management system and OpenADR protocol to participate in a demand response and then evaluated them in real building. OpenADR is a standard protocol for automated system through the event and reporting between load aggregator and demand-side. In addition, we also developed a web-based building control system to embrace different control systems and to reduce the peak load during demand response event. We verified that the result systems are working in a building and the reduced load is measured to confirm the demand response.
To investigate whether VacA (vacuolating toxin) produced by Helicobacter pylori Korean stain 99 induces intestinal secretion, purified VacA was added to T84 cell monolayers mounted in Ussing chambers, and electrical parameters were monitored. Mucosal addition of low pH-pretreated VacA increased short circuit current (Isc). The effect was time- and dose-dependent and saturable. The time-to-peak Isc was concentration-dependent. Chloride channel inhibitors, niflumic acid or 5-nitro-2-(3-phenylpropylamino)-benzoate (NPPB), inhibited VacA-stimulated Isc. Carbachol (CCh)-induced increase of Isc was prolonged by the addition of VacA to the mucosal side only. The effect was unaltered by the addition of niflumic acid. VacA did not show cytopathic effects. These studies indicate that VacA is a nonlethal toxin that acts in a polar manner on T84 monolayers to potentiate $Cl^-$ secretion and the response to CCh secretion without decrease in monolayer resistance. VacA may contribute to diarrhea diseases in human intestinal epithelial cells.
In this paper the strain energy density (SED) model is used to analyze the seismic behavior of suspen-domes and a new criterion is established for judging the seismic failure based on a characteristic point in the SED model. Firstly, a nonlinear time-history response analysis was carried out using the finite-element package ANSYS for typical suspen-domes subjected to different ground motions. The seismic responses including nodal displacements, ratios of yielding members, strain energy density and structural maximum deformation energy were extracted corresponding to the increasing peak ground acceleration (A). Secondly, the SED sum ($I_d$) was calculated which revealed that the $I_d-A$ curve exhibited a relatively large change (called a characteristic point) at a certain value of A with a very small load increment after the structures entered the elastic-plastic state. Thirdly, a SED criterion is proposed to judge the seismic failure load based on the characteristic point. Subsequently, the case study verifies the characteristic point and the proposed SED criterion. Finally, this paper describes the unity and application of the SED criterion. The SED method may open a new way for structural appraisal and the SED criterion might give a unified criterion for predicting the failure loads of various structures subjected to dynamic loads.
