The behavior of headed bars in concrete is investigated through 108 pullout tests having an embedment depth of eight times the bar diameter in the M20 concrete mix. Headed bars are designed based on ASTM A970-16 and ACI 318-19 recommendations. The primary parameters used in this study are the steel bar diameter, the steel fibers percentage, and the head shapes. Three failure modes namely, Steel, Concrete-Blowout & Pull-Through failure have been observed. Based on load-deflection curves which are plotted to investigate the bond capacity of headed bars, it is observed that the circular-headed bars have displayed the highest peak load. The comparative analysis shows the smaller differences in the ultimate bond strength between MC2010 (0.89-2.26 MPa) and EN 1992-1-1 (2.32 MPa) as compared to ACI-318-19 (11-22 MPa) which is due to the absence of embedment depth and peak load factor in MC2010 and EN 1992-1-1 respectively.

In third world countries like Pakistan, the production of electricity has been quickly reduced in past years due to rely on the fossil fuel. According to a survey conducted in 2017, the overall electrical energy capacity was 22,797MW, since the electrical grids have gone too old, therefore the efficiency of grids, goes down to nearly 17000MW. Significant addition of fossil fuel, hydro and nuclear is 64.2%, 29% and 5.8% respectively in the total electricity production in Pakistan. In 2018, the demand crossed 20,223MW, compared to peak generation of 15,400 to 15,700MW as by the Ministry of Water and Power. Country faces a deficit of almost 4000MW to 5000MW for the duration of 2019 hot summer term. Focus on one aspect considering Demand Side Management (DSM) cannot oversea the reduction of gap between power demand and customer supply, which eventually leads to the issue of load shedding. Hence, a scheduling scheme is proposed in this paper called RPSMDSM that is based on selection of those appliances that need to be only Turned-On, on priority during peak hours consuming minimum energy. The Home Energy Management (HEM) system is integrated between consumer and utility and bidirectional flow is presented in the scheme. During peak hours of electricity, the RPSMDSM is capable to persuade less power consumption and accomplish productivity in load management. Simulations show that RPSMDSM scheme helps in scheduling the electricity loads from peak price to off-peak price hours. As a result, minimization in electricity cost as well as (Peak-to-Average Ratio) PAR are accomplished with sensible waiting time.

Power demand forecasting is an important factor of the peak management. This paper deals with the 15 minutes ahead load forecasting problem in a DC urban railway system. Since supplied power lines to trains are connected with parallel, the load characteristics are too complex and highly non-linear. The main idea of the proposed method for the 15 minutes ahead prediction is to use the daily load similarity accounting for the load nonlinearity. An Euclidean norm with weighted factors including loads of the neighbor substation is used for the similar load selection. The prediction value is determinated by the sum of the similar load and the correction value. The correction has applied the neural network model. The feasibility of the proposed method is exemplified through some simulations applied to the actual load data of Incheon subway system.

Recently, power supply-demand instability due to the dramatic increase in power usage suchas air-conditioning load at summertime has brought forecasts of decrease in power supply capability. Therefore improving the load factor through systematic load management, in other words, Direct Load Control became necessary. Direct Load Control(DLC) system is kind of a load management program for stabilization of electric power supply-demand. It's purpose is limiting the demand of the demand side selected at peak load or other time periods. The paper presented a Design of Direct Load Controller for control the amount of power demand in demand side. The proposed Controller is cheaper and has ability of storing more power data than pre-existing device.
The load forecasting has been essential in planning and operation of power systems. The load composition rata is also needed to analyze power-systems - load flow calculation and system stability. This paper proposes the monthly peak load forecasting methods for load groups in residential class using load composition rate and electric consumption characteristics. The proposed methods were applied to a real-scale power system and the effectiveness was turned out.

This paper aimed to compare the daily water quality as well as the hydrological data gathered for the past two years (2000 to 2001) between the two influent rivers of Paldang reservoir. The analysis also has been carried out to draw out the factors that affect the water quality at the dam site, where the main drinking water drawing point is located. The relationship between total amount of monthly rainfall and monthly inflow showed $r^2=0.74$ (p<0.05). The highest peak of inflow of influent rivers recorded in August and September (in the year of 2000) and July and August (2001). Average inflows of influent rivers in 2000 and 2001 are calculated at 209.0, 161.5 CMS (Bughangang), 268.6, 148.2 CMS(Namhangang), and 7.8, 5.0 CMS (Gyeongancheon). The formula which was driven from the relationship between inflow and COD load of influent rivers, explained that COD concentration in general increased with the inflow. But during the rainy seasons (July, August, and September), COD concentration decreased according to the increase of inflow. The daily rainfall and COD concentration(or load) during the rainy season (August and September in the year of 2000, July and August in 2001) indicated that the peak of COD load correspond with the rainfall, which decreased sharply after 3 or 4 days. The reason was thought that the high COD load was diluted rapidly by the rain flow. Water temperature, pH and conductivity measured at dam site decreased obviously when the inflow sharply increased. Peak period of total phosphorus concentration coincided with that of inflow. In rainy season, chlorophyll-a concentration decreased obviously as the inflow increased. The reason can be ascribed to the flushing effect caused by the operation of floodgate.

The objective of this paper is to investigate the validity of transmitting boundaries in dynamic analysis of soil-structure interaction problems. As a case study, the proposed Baghdad metro line is considered. The information about the dimensions and the material properties of the concrete tunnel and surrounding soil were obtained from a previous study. A parametric study is carried out to investigate the effect of several parameters including the peak value of the horizontal component of earthquake displacement records and the frequency of the dynamic load. The computer program (Mod-MIXDYN) is used for the analysis. The numerical results are analyzed for three conditions; finite boundaries (traditional boundaries), infinite boundaries modelled by infinite elements (5-node mapped infinite element) presented by Selvadurai and Karpurapu, 1988), and infinite boundaries modelled by dashpot elements (viscous boundaries). It was found that the transmitting boundary absorbs most of the incident energy. The distinct reflections observed for the "fixed boundaries" disappear by using "transmitted boundaries". This is true for both cases of using viscous boundaries or mapped infinite elements. The type and location of the dynamic load represent two controlling factors in deciding the importance of using infinite boundaries. It was found that the results present significant differences when earthquake is applied as a base motion or a pressure load is applied at the surface ground. The peak value of the vertical displacement at nodes A, B, E and F (located at the tunnel's crown and side walls, and at the surface above the tunnel and at the surface 6.5 m away from tunnel's centre respectively) increases with the frequency of the surface pressure load for both cases 1 and 2 (traditional boundaries and mapped infinite elements respectively) while it decreases for case 3 (viscous boundaries). The modular ratio Ec/Es (modulus of elasticity of the concrete lining to that of the surrounding soil) has a considerable effect on the peak value of the horizontal displacement at node B (on the side wall of the tunnel lining) increase about (17.5) times, for the three cases (1, 2, and 3).

An on-chip current sensor with fast response time for the peak-current-mode buck regulator is proposed. The initial operating points of the peak current sensor are determined in advance by the valley current level, which is sensed by a valley current sensor. As a result, the proposed current sensor achieves a fast response time of less than 20 ns, and a sensing accuracy of over 90%. Applying the proposed current sensor, the peak-current-mode buck regulator for the mobile application is realized with an operating frequency of 2 MHz, an output voltage of 0.8 V, a maximum load current of 500 mA, and a peak efficiency of over 83%.
